I found that odd, considering I had not cast a single spell in the hours of herb gathering I was doing. Weirdly, only my Life Staff was taking damage, and not the Ice Gauntlet.
After 600 Azoth and some testing, it looks like the Sacred Protection and Spirits United cause the Life Staff to take damage each time you swap to it. With both talents traited, the life staff takes 2 durability each swap. I believe this is due to those talents casting a buff on you when you take out the weapon, and this buff counting as a spell that hurts the weapon. Oddly enough, Bend Light or any of the other "active" buffs do not seem to do this, only the 2 that you receive for always having the Life Staff out.
I really only have used the Life Staff, so I am unsure if this will affect any other weapons. Just wanted to get a PSA out there for other Life Staff users: If you plan on animation cancel rolling around you'll want to sheathe the weapon instead of swap, use a different weapon when travelling, or not trait Sacred Protection and Sprits United.
Does anyone know if this is only off the base regen? Or overall? Is it worth it? TY.
