Tire balance Puns

Got brand new tires plus an aligment and balance. Also had the shop inspect the front suspension and they said it's all good. Car is still shaking. It only shakes at speeds above 45MPH or when I am braking. However it does not always shake but shakes intermittently. When it does shake it seems to shake worse at higher speeds. It usually shakes when braking but sometimes worse than others. My initial thought is warped brake rotors but I'm not sure that makes sense given it shakes sometimes at high speeds with no brakes being applied.

I had a bent rim from hitting a deep pothole in Chicago and started wobbling/wheel would shake over 65+mph. I needed new tires anyways so I got it all done at once and while the wobble is gone, my wheel still vibrates and will start to become a wobble at 85+mph. Car is a 2012 Toyota Corolla. Any suggestions?

Hey everybody. I have a 2004 Odyssey van that has a very consistent, but speed-dependent, vibration in the front end and in the steering wheel. I’m fairly certain it’s not a tire balance issue as I’ve tried multiple rotations, rebalances, and even a remount.

So I thought it might be the wheel bearings, but some google-fu tells me that they are usually most noticeable when turning. And my problem is most noticeable when traveling straight and above 40mph.

So what’s the next thing (or two) I need to check? Is an alignment the next most likely suspect?

I just discovered these exist and I'm curious if anyone's used them or something similar. Gonna have to do my first tire change soon. Do they really work well?

The seller said the wheels/tires (method 502, BFG ko2) were balanced and TPMS sensors installed at tirerack. They were used on a 2018 crosstrek for 10k miles.

I want to put them on my 2021 limited. Do i need to balance and or align these again? Do i need to link the TPMS sensors to my specific vehicle?

I have tires thats are 3% (height and width) oversized requiring spacers due to suspension clearance.
I have lug bolts of appropriate length. Yes on my car a 3% tire size change hits the suspension

Before the flaming starts,

All I need is a shop to mount and balance the tires on the wheels. I understand we live in a litigious society and many shops wont take the risk of liability with spacers. Fully understood.
I don't want a warrantee or to blame another for my own choices. I just want my tires mounted and balanced.

I have 4 vehicles and just moved here, I do most my own work but do offload certain jobs that require a lift or more time than I can spare. So there is money to be made for a shop that doesn't mind working on customized vehicles. The shops I used are pretty far away now and I don't want to be driving an hour there and back.

Recommendations welcomed.

My friend has a Ford Fusion (2014 ish) with a modest 60,000 miles. A couple of months ago, she mentioned the car/tires were shaking. The tire place said the tires were out of balance and balanced them and the ride was smooth as glass again.

Maybe a thousand miles and a couple of months later, the same issue has come up. She is not driving over exceptionally bad roads. (She is using the same Indiana highways and streets we all are using.). Before she takes it back to the tire dealer, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts?

I know weights coming off can cause the issue but why are weights falling off on several tires? Could it be something else?

I wanted to see if I could find the answer to this before they open, as there’s still several hours left. (Also, keep in mind that I am pretty sure that balancing is completely different from wheel alignment at least afaik).

Tesla SC is charging $150 for balance, and additional $150 for alignment, if needed. Sounds excessive.

Any downsides to using Costco or other company for balance/alignment if needed? Specially any horror stories?

I didn't buy my tires from sam's club but the tire technician said I can still bring in my car to do tire work on it.

I showed up for the appointment and he asked about my dad's car since he did buy tires from sam's club

I told him I brought my own car and he asked if I wanted the one time balance and rotation or the lifetime. He then enters my vehicle information into the computer

He went to scan the barcode to charge me but then he told me that the system is telling him not to charge me surprisingly.

Was that a glitch or is sam's club that generous lol
