A list of puns related to "Subungual hematoma"
I am 20, Male, from Bangladesh. So approximately 3hours ago a chair fallen of in my left toe nail. It doesnβt hurt that much. I can bear the pain. Is there any way to keep my nails from falling on its own ?
Played basketball with folks from work - my feet were pretty sore from a 10K on gravel in my Vivos the day before, so I decided to wear my old cushioned Brooks instead of my Lems.. Fast forward to the end of the game, my left big toenail was feeling pretty funny, got home and found it was full of blood from slamming the side of the toebox on stop-start motion.
I drained it with a tiny drill bit and it's not too painful or discolored, but I'm anxious to put on socks/shoes of any kind, particularly my toe socks. My feeling is that as a group, we're less likely to deal with these injuries (apparently they're really common for normal runners), but possibly more sensitive? Open to any advice - I'd really like to not lose the nail. And yes, it would be cool if I could just not wear anything on my feet wherever I go, but I'm not that ballsy yet.
just noticed, unlike almost every other sport subreddit, there's no [INJURY] flair here - cheeky
Hey guys.
After a long pause, I've played casual ball this summer and am looking forward to continue to hop. I was running in some generic shoes until I hurt my knee, than I decided to invest in some shoes. With limited options and no research, I got the Rose 11. They are good shoes, but for the last month I've consistently got subungual hematoma (injury to the blood vessels under the nail bed) on my big and several other toes.
Since I haven't had such an experience when I was younger, I was wondering how do you deal with this? What treatment you use? Would you recommend switching shoes? To what?
Hello, for the past year or two I've been getting subungual hematomas on both big toe nails after rounds of golf. Lately I don't play often, maybe once every six weeks, but I do have the brusing consistently from play.
Both big toe nails bruise, but the left lead foot big toe suffers most. The bruising is usually centered at the top left quadrant of the left toe, and top right of the right toe. Eventually the nailbed kind of dies underneath the affected area, and the nail above is turns an unsightly whitish brown until it eventually grows out. The whole process takes months.
I realize the simple answer is probably get some new/bigger shoes, but I first wanted to see if anyone on this sub has encountered the same issue and if there was a specific shoe model or shape that worked for them. New shoes aren't exactly cheap, and a little bit more difficult to demo when it comes to return windows and acceptable condition.
I currently am wearing Puma Ignite Pwrsports, which I love and they feel comfortable while playing, however they do seem to have a narrower toe. I haven't always suffered from this issue, so the shoes may be the culprit and the timeline may match up with the purchase, I can't remember exactly. I don't think I've developed any major changes to my drives (which I believe cause the issue from the force).
Really appreciate any advice or input. Thanks in advance for any help.

Have previously had two skin cancer surgeries (shoulder and back of neck). In the summer of 2019, I was doing a lot of hikes, and recall hitting my toe really hard going downhill three times in one hike. Very painful. It then developed a blue /purple streak on it, and I was told by friends it would fall off on its own.
At the beginning of this year, 2021, I noticed the nail was barely on, and was able to peel off about half of it. There was also a foul smelling white crud that beneath but at the time I thought it was from soap getting trapped in the shower or something.
I also often wear shoes without socks, so I'm wondering if it's trauma + fungus?
I tried calling a podiatrist, but they're booked out until August where I am!
I picked up VapoRubb and have been applying it directly to the toenail, but unsure if I should get this drained / checked out given my history with skin cancer? Very nervous about that, but it doesn't look like melanoma based on the pictures I've seen...hmm.
I dropped a stack of heavy textbooks on my big toe around 1 and 1/2 weeks ago, and suffered a pretty heavy bruise that hasnβt gone away since then. I wasnβt able to put a lot of weight on my foot because of it.
The toenail has since turned purple and yellow, with all of the natural pink color of the nail completely gone. I have cleaned the toe thoroughly everyday and keep it covered with a dressing and antibiotic ointment. I tried clipping the toenail the other day and some clear liquid/blood oozed out from the side.
The toenail doesnβt hurt to move anymore but there is a lot of pressure that makes it hard to walk on and I canβt completely curl my big toe vs. the unaffected one.
Please let me know if this would be enough cause to see a podiatrist. Thanks!
I had to take a break from running the past month because both my two Index toenails fell off. They're longer than my big toe so they get a lot of repetitive trauma while I run. I just ran 3 miles today and I had to pay attention to how I step, it wasn't too bad at the end. Just wondering if anyone else deals with this, any advice would be great. I wear Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 35s if that matters, they're not tight on my feet or anything. edit: toenail instead of toe lol
