This would be a name to honor my grandma. Sonia feels too old fashioned in a lot of ways, even though I like the name.
I'm basically an east asian girl and my american friend recommended the name saying that it fits with my vibe/image. I'm curious what image do typical western people/Americans have for the name Sonya or Sonia?

First off, the Mage from Fire Emblem: Gaiden/Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Sonya! Sonya is one of the pirates employed by Grieth. She is the other half of the Samson/Arran choice of this game.
Secondly is the Sage from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, Sonia! Sonia is the wife of Brendan Reed and the adopted mother of Nino. She does...behave weirdly at times...

Hey, I see that your finger is hovering over the downvote button right now. But before you start hating on me and calling me an incel, why don't you just hear me out for a second?
Anyone who's played DR2 would know that Sonia and Kazuichi's relationship is certainly not a healthy one. Soda continuously obsesses over the Ultimate Princess throughout the entirety of the game. Instead of paying attention to her actual personality and preferences, Kazuichi keeps an idealized, "perfect" view of Sonia in his head while rejecting anything that he finds bad about her. In fact, being the socially awkward person he is, he even fails to understand that his actions are making her uncomfortable.
Well, how does Sonia react to all of this? Obviously, she doesn't enjoy this unwanted attention and, as such, tries to stay away from Kazuichi at all costs from the very moment the two properly meet each other. Now, don't get me wrong: Nevermind has every right to reject and ignore Soda's advances. That is absolutely understandable. Heck, I even think he deserves some amount of chastising and punishments for what he did to Sonia. After all, there isn't really anything justifiable about his actions.
But what if I told you that Sonia's responses to Kazuichi's stalking are not entirely justifiable either? What if I told you that her constant insults and mockery of Soda contribute nothing and only make things worse for the both of them? Why do I have this "stupid, incel-like" opinion in the first place? Well, let's take a look at some of their interactions to find out why.
In trial 2-4, Sonia explicitly expresses disappointment after Chiaki points out that Soda is not the killer, which essentially means that she wanted him dead. After hearing this, Kazuichi obviously becomes sad about her strongly negative reaction and, yet, it still changes nothing about his stalker-like advances. He continues to act in the same manner for the rest of the game.
This, of course, is not the only time such incidents happen. In almost every single interaction that the two have with each other, Sonia either ignores or makes fun of Kazuichi at every chance she gets. You know, for the first couple of chapters, I honestly do think that this is justified, but when this harsh attitude of hers continues repeatedly in the latter part of the ga
