A list of puns related to "Sister Hazel"
We currently have Hazel Elizabeth (short, two syllable name ending with an βohβ sound).
I absolutely adore the name Ivy and think it pairs beautifully with Hazel, but husband has vetoed it as sees it as a βnothingβ name!
Can anyone think of any alternatives for this sib set? Iβd like to keep the theming as close as possible (thinking nature names or classic, more vintage names). We both love Willow but itβs too on the nose in rhyming with our last name, and Wren but thatβs too similar in sounding to it too!)
Name ideas that we do like but not love:
June, Ruby, Amber.
Also after a middle name combo too!
Just an PSA to anyone who has tickets to the show: Get there on time at whatever time is listed on your tickets. Donβt show up late thinking thereβs going to be an opener, or that itβs fine to miss Sister Hazelβs set because youβre only there to see Vassar. We went to the show in Cincinnati last night and with an 8pm ticket time, the show was done by 9:40pm, encore included.
By looking at the bill, we figured that Sister Hazel would open and play a full set (8-10 songs), followed by a 10-15 minute break to change the stage out, followed by 60-90 minutes of Phil Vassar killing it on the piano. That logic works for every tour of every musician with a notable feature act Iβve ever seen. Not the case with this tour.
My only guess is that it was one long set where Phil Vassar jumped on stage after a few songs with Sister Hazel and just took over without any set break. Itβs a great show, and Phil is an absolute killer. There were mostly non-Christmas songs but for 2 at the end where they all played together, which was great. But, we timed it wrong thinking it would be a traditional opener/break/headliner format. We were totally wrong on that front. Donβt make this mistake. For whatever reason, on this tour, just make sure youβre in your seats by the time listed on your ticket.
Laura has always been a great girl. Although Iβm not a lot older than her, I am extremely protective of her.
I supported her every time she needed, even if it meant standing up against our parents. They could be really scary and imposing, but my stubbornness knows no bounds when it comes to defending my sister.
Laura is particular about pretty much everything. Her eating habits are very different from ours (for instance, sheβll only feed when extremely necessary, even if it makes her body suffer). While the rest of us read big, old books, sheβs a fan of teen fantasy novels (of course our parents say itβs disgraceful).
And sheβs the first member of our clan in decades to move out of our familyβs estate. She did so to live with her boyfriend Bill.
βYou mean William. You know stupid nicknames are reprehensibleβ, I corrected her, almost automatically. βSorry, I donβt want to sound like mom. Good for you that you areβ¦ you knowβ¦ doing things most of us wouldnβt. If thatβs what you want toβ, I hugged her.
βThanks, Julie!β she smiled. My sister has a beautiful smile, with two perfect rows of teeth. βBut Bill is actually his real name.β
I laughed it off. I always laughed it off.
Laura wasnβt explicitly forbidden to leave β we never were. Mother just said βyou know you wonβt make it without us for too longβ. These words made me shiver.
Compared to Laura, I was spineless. She always made a point to live a normal life, regardless of who our parents were. I tried my best too, but Iβve had enough boyfriends to know that ugly incidents can β and will β happen.
βYou can call me anytime if you have an emergency and need me to be there for youβ, I told her as we said our goodbyes.
βThanks for worrying about me, sis. But I trust Bill. I trust him with everything I haveβ, she responded, hugging me.
I canβt deny I felt lonely without her around, especially lately, with everyone feeling unsafe about leaving their homes. I couldnβt even visit because she was afraid of getting her boyfriend sick β or worse.
At least we talked daily.
βHow is life treating you? Are you eating properly?β, I asked her every day.
βLife is great. Bill loves board games, he taught me so many cool stuff. He ordered me so many young adult novels, and doesnβt think Iβm stupid for liking them. He asks me about the stories and actually hears meβ, Laura replied, overjoyed.
βI asked if youβre eating properly too.β
βYou know Iβm not. But Iβm not starving either. P
