There’s been so much discussion about Snape today and I thought I would give a new perspective on the issue.
Severus Snape also:
is a wizard who owns a wand
is a character in the Harry Potter series (a book/movie series written by JK Rowling)
has an alliterative name
has a face
has personality traits
Something doesn't add up.
Here’s how I imagine would go:
Snape arrives in afterlife. Then someone runs up to him and slaps him across the face. Lily is furious.
Snape: Lily?
Lily: You don’t get to call me that you disgusting bastard!
Snape: I protected your son!
Lily: (Laugh coldly) Since when is “protect” to make him feel as miserable as he can, humiliate him, be totally unfair to him?
Snape: I did that all for you!
Lily: For me? For me! No. You did that because you were obsessed over me. You deprived my son his chance of family and the least you could have done is treat him fairly. I didn’t expect you to treat him like a king. Was it so hard to treat him fairly?
James: That’s enough Lily. (Looks at Snape) You’re sick you know that? I know I bullied you at school but tell me. What did Harry do to you? You punished a son for his father’s wrong doings? A father he never got to meet because you ran along to your master to tell him the prophecy?
James and Lily walks away together. Sirius comes and says “You’re an amazing Occlumency teacher. You know that?” and spits at him. Lupin and Tonks just looks at him coldly, Mad Eye looks at him with disdain.
Dobby comes and says “You is a bad teacher! For hurting Great Harry Potter sir!” Charity Burbage punches him in the face “How does it feel to get killed by a snake? Not pleasant right?”
Fred comes and sniggers. “Snivellus? Never knew that before.” and the victims of the first war all give them handful of yelling. “Death eater scum!” (Snape had no problem being a death eater in the first war until Lily was involved.)
Finally, Longbottom family comes, cracking their knuckles. “What did Neville ever do to you?”
Yes, Snape did good things, but he was only ever on the good side for selfish reasons. But he also did countless bad things. Just saying “Hey, you saved my son! Thanks! (hug)” just doesn’t make sense to me.
I think Horace Slughorn is a better Potions teacher and Head of Slytherin in nearly every way than Snape. And here's why.
Snape is mean, abusive and cruel. He bullies his non-Slytherin students, takes points away for no reason or petty reasons, doesn't very much help kids learn and also deliberately ruins assignments.
Slughorn, on the other hand, is a nice and jovial man who treats studfents of all Houses nicely and equally, gives points to Gryffindor, he may have favourites but he's civil enough to those that ain't his favourites.
"Talk less... Smile more..." In my head Severus Snapes head pops up saying this line and I just can't undo this in my mind. Does anyone else experience this too? 😂

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and in the first potion lesson after Harry managed to brew the best potion due to the notes in Snapes old school book, Slughorn says that Harry has his mothers talents and that she was an ace in potions.
I was wondering if this was because Lily and Severus were friends at school back then and maybe he helped her with the potions. We know that he is brilliant at potions, he even imporved on the intructions. How do you think about this?
No, you cannot reply with "he had to be a teacher", I know that in canon he did, but what are other choices he could go with that also offered the protection his job as a professor did?

Can we just agree that:
Yes James Potter -did- bully Snape in school. But Severus Snape bullies kids.
They both have badness under their belts.
James Potter joined the right side, sacrificed himself for his family, to hear the people who actually knew him talk, he changed and grew up as a person.
Severus Snape did mess up royally with Lily, but - even if for selfish reasons - he came to Dumbledore begging for help. He started off as a sniveling cowardly mess and over time Dumbledore came to trust Snape with his life. Heavily implying that SNAPE grew as a person...turning over a new leaf even if he didn't exactly change his roots.
They BOTH of them went from reprehensible to instrumental-in-destruction-of-Voldemort.
Ironically, maybe James Potter less so, but he still fought the good fight AGAINST Voldemort and helped produce the one who ultimately defeated Voldemort.
Can't we celebrate both of them? Live and let live?

I feel like back in the 2000s everytime I turned around no one could mention Twilight without someone being like TWILIT SUXX HP BETTAR or vice versa, and now that same energy is like SNAPE SUXX JAMES BETTAR or vice versa.
There's no prophecy about them saying "One can not be great unless the other sucks."
The whole "always" story that people like to quote is actually just kinda creepy, dude never moved on he just obsessively kept track of what Lily was doing and even when her son came to his class he treated him like shit. You would think if he really cared for her that much he would treat Harry much kinder. Also, it's a pretty big bummer to me that he names his kid after Severus, but no love for Hagrid, who cared since the beginning.
Any pairing as long as they are the same age, i don't care how morally twisted or anything the fic is. I read a few fics where Severus Snape is humiliated (and usually enjoys it) or dominated by the marauders and they are shocked but delighted. I would like any pairing tho!

Professor Severus Snape was a half-blood wizard who served primarily as the Potions Master and Head of Sytherin House for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and also as its Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and Headmaster for brief periods. As a young boy, he developed a close bond with the Muggle-born witch Lily Evans who he attended Hogwarts with. However, the two grew apart as they were sorted into rival houses in addition to Severus mingling with pure-blood supremacists and Lily falling in love with his school bully James Potter. This divergence grew further in adulthood when Snape joined the ranks of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters while Lily and James opposed him as members of the Order of the Phoenix.
When it was prophesied that Voldemort would meet his downfall at the hands of Lily and James' son Harry, Severus pleaded with Albus Dumbledore to hide them when the dark lord sought to defy the prophecy by killing them. Unfortunately, Voldemort eventually found them when their friend Peter Pettigrew sold them out and Severus was too late to save them. The devastated Severus then joined Dumbledore's cause fully and was assigned to protect Harry when he eventually attends Hogwarts, having miraculously survived the attack while Voldemort was seemingly killed. Despite this, his contempt for James passed onto Harry who he viewed as being equally arrogant as his father.
When Voldemort returned 14 years after his supposed death, Severus served as a triple agent for Dumbledore as Voldemort was under the belief he was acting as a spy for him. Knowing that Draco Malfoy was tasked to murder him by the dark lord, Dumbledore implored Severus to do the deed himself to preserve Draco's innocence and to solidify Voldemort's trust in h
