A list of puns related to "Rego Park, Queens"
Hi all, saw some posts and comments about the excitement over the new IKEA that just opened in Rego Park & wanted to share how the interior and shopping experience was for those who aren't able to check it out just yet.
We visited the mini IKEA in the Rego Center shopping mall last Saturday 1/16/21. The line heading into IKEA looked super long, but it actually only took 15 minutes of waiting to get in! This store is the first in the U.S. with a smaller format, offering a full range of products across 115,000 sq. ft. of space. Itβs an open floor plan, which was something we werenβt used to since we usually go to the Long Island IKEA location. There are quite a few showrooms inside, but you aren't able to buy the bigger items on the spot - you place an order and pay a $50 shipping fee to get it shipped to your house. However, the IKEA does sell a lot of smaller items to bring home as well! We saw stuff like $3 pans and a whole array of artificial plants. The food court area isn't open yet, but you can order those delicious Swedish meatballs to go.
If you'd like to watch an IKEA walkthrough (instead of reading that big block of text), here's a video ^_^ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq3O-0VlBaY
Here's another perspective from us - it's a shorter vlog-style video if it suits you better than the original walkthrough vid https://youtu.be/yiQ4vPVR2Lc Thank you for watching~
Any other questions, feel free to ask away!

I hope they have those famous swedish meatballs...
I have always taken the subway there in the past but under the circumstances feel a little more comfortable taking a cab, but am afraid when I'm coming home I won't be able to find one.
(I know I could do Uber but am embarrassed to say I have never done that)
Until maybe a year of two ago, I did not know the existence of Spartak Judo and Karate (in Rego Park, Queens, NY), which is literally three blocks (or 8 minutes walk) away from my house. I might train there when it is safe to do so. Has anyone trained with the Judo sensei there? I lived in the neighborhood for 15 years, and noticed some of the Russian-speaking businesses are rather insular (no English menus, for example, at some of the restaurants). Are they friendly towards non-Russian speakers there? Also, are they related to the Spartak Sambo Club in Russia? Do they train Newaza equally as Tachiwaza?
As an aside, I remember the renowned Judoka, Jon Bluming doing a seminar at a dojo in the Forest Hills/Rego Park area that was not Spartak. Does anyone remember which one and if it is till open?
Note: I trained with Nobuyoshi Higashi (who I believe is Shintaro Higashi's father) for a semester while studying at Stony Brook University in 2002. It was a harsh experience that nearly put me off of Judo because I kept getting spiked onto the back of my head (and possibly gotten concussions) while I was learning throws like the Osoto Gari. Now I know to protect ya neck (and head) while you train because if you don't do it who will. That semester has so far been my only experience with Judo, but not the Grappling Martial Arts.

apparently kirkland has two different protein bar versions, one called pure protein (i think), which has more net carbs than just the plain old protein bar https://www.costco.com/Kirkland-Signature-Variety-Protein-Bars%2C-40-count.product.100296106.html. anyway, both versions are in the costco at rego park. i have never tasted them - was going to buy a bunch today but the store was packed. i'll get em next time but thought you guys would like to know.
Don't have pictures, but I'll describe it.
The man looked like he was in his upper twenties or early thirties. He was wearing no shirt, and his pants were barely hanging onto his waist. So you could see his butt, his pubic hair and a little of his penis.
At 4:30PM (roughly speaking), he tried walking across the LIE near Junction Blvd. He made it past the eastbound lanes, and was nearly across the westbound lanes when he was taken down by police.
About 5 cop cars and 2 ambulances responded, stopping traffic at times to navagate the highway.
At this moment, he's apparently on his way to North Shore Hospital in Forest Hills.
He walked very strange, almost like a zombie. I can't help but wonder if he was on something.
That's all I know.
Iβm considering buying a house in Rego Park. A former coworker of my father is retiring and moving to Florida and Iβm considering buying her 3 bedroom home for a good price. Whatβs it like living in Rego Park? In terms of Queens, Iβve only lived in Astoria. How does it compare? Whatβs the food and culture like? Iβm in my late 20s and live with my boyfriend. We donβt have kids. Are their other young couples in the area?
Hey Guys: For those who have lived in Rego Park, Queens can you provide any insight or resource that I can use to find out if the rent I will be paying for my one room is a fair rent. The apartment is a 3 Bedroom with 1.5 bathroom and is located off 63rd Dr. Thanks much!
I was lucky enough to be 15/20 in line. It looked like 10 of each color. They let each person choose, but the greys went first.
Hi everyone, I'm looking for a studio around the areas mentioned above. Preferably under $1200. My income is 40x, mid 700 credit score and (including future rent), a DTI of 42%. If it can be not too far (around 10 minutes walk) from subway, that'll be even better!!
I know it's kind of hard considering the areas, but any help would be much appreciated! :)
