Hello Reddit ! I have put together the underlying ideas oh the magical system in my world, and I would very much like critics and comments to improve on it. Feel free to ask any questions regarding details also !
Magic in my world has very broad applications and the limitations are on the side of the arcanic power of the practitioner than the system itself. Feats like resurrection, creation or time reversal are in theory possible, but in the realm of godhood.
Weaving a spell is deconstructing in 4 parts : What do you want to do, What do you need to do in order to achieve it, How do you want to do it, Which part of the world do you change ?
Essentially : Magic = Form + Element + Application + Handling
I'll expand on each of those parts.
Form :
Magic is a well of power, intangible Aether currents roaming the world, invisible to the layman's eyes, accesible for the practitioner to tap into. However, just having access to this magical energy is but the first step. Archmages and researchers of old have classified Magic and its Forms in 4 parts :
Forms = Manipulation; Reinforcement; Alteration; Creation
Manipulation : The first step of magical arcana is to simply manipulate the energy, to affect its Movementum. This is akin to telekinesis, and people only able to reach this step are dubbed Movementors.
Distance, speed, direction, zone of effect, energy displacement, ... are examples of variables they can affect.
The go-to illustration is to manipulate a campfire's flames into a fireball heading to your ennemy.
Reinforcement : Aether is fickle, and most areas are void of the energy necessary to grand rituals. In order to boost the potency of the spells, mages can tap into their own ressources (stored Aether, stamina and/or lifeforce). Those skilled in this step are called Stragos. Some Stragos are only able to reinforce their own energy, without manipulating it, making them prime close-quarters fighters.
Intensity, impact, penetration/resistance, durability, ... can vary depending on the quantity of Aether involved.
The aforementioned fireball can thus turn into a raging inferno with the according power.
Alteration : Changes of paradigm, alteration of nature, physical rewriting, ... A mage applies its own will on reality. Concentration and focus on the outcome the mage are key. The more a mage is sure of his ability of weaving a spell, the more reality will indulge. Theorized spells are tried an

Lately I've been thinking about the way we can manipulate digital interfaces to supplement or re-imagine what a poetic experience is. I'm wondering if you guys have any examples of poetry that uses digital media experimentally in its presentation? I'm thinking of things along the lines of the example I'm linking--texts that use the space created for music/sound, art, 3D modelling, video, interactive interface, etc., to add to what the text can convey.
Aristotle makes a distinction between two types of activities β practice (praxis) is an action that is done for its own sake, while production (poiesis) is done for the sake of some end beyond the action itself, the product. Then he makes a distinction between two types of motion β an activity (energeia) is immediately completed in its own action, while a process (kinesis) is only completed when it reaches its end point.
There obviously seems to be a correlation between these two distinctions, but there are also cases where they don't match up. He uses walking as an example of kinesis, since walking from A to B is only complete when we reach point B; but surely walking is a practice and not a production, since nothing is being produced as a result of it. I take this to mean that praxis is usually an activity but can sometimes be a process. For example, "going for a walk" and "walking to B" are both praxis, but the first is energeia and the second kinesis. Am I correct in thinking this? If so, would he say the same for production, or is that always considered kinesis?
Lastly, are these metaphysical or evaluative distinctions, or metaphysical distinctions with evaluative implications? Sorry if this is a little technical, I've been researching this for a while and can't get a straight answer. If anybody could point me to some passages I'm overlooking, or to some secondary material I would really appreciate it.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
