hiya! iβm just wonderin if anyone has any recommendations for pandan/ screwpine / kewda scents. i have been looking for something but i canβt find any with it, just essential oil or foodgrade stuff. i really miss the smell of home - which is pandan leaf - and itβs just so decadent but i canβt find it in the states. thank you everyone for your time..!
In the beginning of March I ordered three pandan plants online.
- packaging was bad, they where bumped about quite a bit
- put them in bigger pots with that barky stuff for orchids and holes in the bottom of the pot order to regulate moisture.
- did realize that two of the three plants still had plastic cages around the roots (from the cultivation phase maybe? makes them easier to handle I guess...) I removed those cages carefully, but of course that is not entirely possible w/o damaging the roots.
- also realized that the thick, fleshy roots had been cut.
- gave one of those plants to a friend as a gift - pretty much died immediately in her fridge-like flat.
- leaves start to get brown at the tip
- put the remaining two - one freed from the cage, one without one in the first place on the windowsill, where they got a moderate amount of sunshine throughout the day.
- gave them plenty of water (almost daily).
- used some herb fertilizer on them.
- leaves browner than before
- removed them from the windowsill out of the sunshine altogether, watered less ( 2x a week)
- Smaller one got spider mites, which I removed with water and dishwashing detergent
- Finally moved them into my bathroom ( no natural light and humidity)
Still both of them are getting progressively worse by the day. The smaller one is browning even on the newest leaves, the bigger one (which even has been growing a bit) still has its newest shoots intact.
