She prides herself on her tall stature, muscled body, and strength to defeat others. She goes by the nickname "The Rooster" after her father's signature animal. She is constantly doused in olive oil, always reapplying it when out of battle. Her voice is somewhat deeper than other goddesses and she scoffs at the sight of someone like Aphrodite. She uses her muscled arms to swing, mimicking pankration in a way, without an attack chain.

She couldn't have flowing hair and a slim waist because that would be boring and against her lore, so I went with a muscle-headed woman who cares only for her strength and skill. As for her abilities I looked for classic Greek wrestling techniques and put a spin on them, as well as incorporated minor fantasy elements such as her auras. The theme of the rooster, her father's animal, didn't come until last minute when I decided it would be a good trait to add to her design.

[JUL18] Palaestra

Title: Goddess of Wrestling

Pantheon: Greek

Type: Melee, Physical

Role: Warrior

Passive: Fatigue-^1 Instead of mana, Palaestra uses Stamina. She has a maximum of 100 stamina. If Palaestra uses all her stamina she becomes fatigued. Fatigue causes Palaestra to move slower and become more vulnerable to attacks. As long as Palaestra does not cast abilities, she will regenerate stamina at a rate of 5 per second. Basic attacks regenerate 2.5 stamina per hit. Additionally, mana and mp5 effects have no effect on Palaestra.

  • Passive ability: Debuff

  • Affects: Self

  • Movement Speed Reduction: -20

  • Damage taken increase: 15%

Ability 1: Bearhug-^2 Palaestra dashes forward a short distance passing through minions and stopping at the first enemy god hit, grabbing them into a bearhug dealing damage every 0.5s for 1s.

If used after Suplex, Palaestra will initiate a pin maneuver increasing the damage and silence duration to 3 seconds while reducing the damage by 50%.

  • Ability type: Dash

  • Affects: Enemies

  • Damage per tick: 30/50/70/90/110 (+35% of Physical Power)

  • Cost: 15 stamina

  • Cooldown: 12 seconds

Ability 2: Suplex^3 Palaestra grabs the nearest enemy god in a cone in front of her delivering a suplex dealing damage in an area around the impact and knocking down (stunning) the target for 0.5s.

If used after Bearhug, the casting time is reduced by 50% and bonus damage is dealt.

  • Ability type: Cone

  • Affects: Enemies

  • Damage: 70/110/150/190/230 (+80% of Physical Power)

  • Bonus damage: 30/40/50/60/70

  • Radius: 6

  • Cost: 20 stamina

  • Cooldown: 10 seconds

Ability 3: Leg Drop-^4 Palaestra delivers a sitting leg drop where she is currently standing dealing damage and slowing all enemies in a small radius around herself.

If combined with Bearhug, Palaestra instead delivers a standing leg drop dealing increased damage and knocking down (stunning) the target for 0.5s.

If used after Suplex, the primary target takes 50% more damage and is stunned for an additional 0.5 seconds.

  • Ability type: AoE

  • Affects: Enemies

  • Damage: 80/110/140/170/200 (+75% of Physical Power)

  • Slow: 30%

  • Duration: 0.5/0.75/1/1.25/1.5 seconds

  • Radius: 10

  • Cost: 15 stamina

  • Cooldown: 10 seconds

Ultimate: Combo Master/ Comeback-^5 Passive: Palaestra can combo some of her moves together for increased effectiveness at the cost of using 50 stamina.^6

Active: Palaestra becomes CC immune and regains 100% of her stamina for 5 seconds

I would like to create a piece of art of someone asking a question at Delphi and I have found pictures of the ruins, but was wondering if anyone had knowledge of historical descriptions of the structure and how the oracle looked/was dressed when speaking to someone.

Any cool stories about the Oracle would also be appreciated!

The bodies of the two girls were found the next day by a volunteer nearly a half-mile away from their last known location. An autopsy report later confirmed that the bodies were those of missing Abby and Libby, as their loved ones called them.

Police also recovered an audio clip from one of the girls’ cellphones that they suspect might have been the killer. An unidentified man can be heard saying, β€œDown the hill.”

February 2020 Ghost Mansion Ride Build Challenge: Oracle at Delphi

I'm working on an ancient Greek/Greek myth-inspired theme park, and made a ghost mansion ride that will be in it as my challenge entry this month.

The workshop link has more pictures.

Description:

Historical Abstract*: The Oracle at Delphi was used by the ancient Greeks as a place where the elite would seek wisdom. Women would breathe vapors and hallucinate, and then their words would be translated by priests who were world and well-informed for the time. Advice was known to be easily misinterpreted, and someone who does not know themselves would use it to their own detriment.

*-My own words, and overly concise - see real sources for better information

In the ride: The ride leaves the station and passes through a tunnel to reveal the temple to Athena in its modern-day ruined form. It is one of the best known and most picturesque of the ruins at Delphi. The ride then goes through a foggy portal to move to a world combining the past and myth. The snake that Apollo banished from the Oracle is seen slithering away. A temple to Apollo banishing the snake is found directly behind the station, with a rendition of a more complete temple to Athena next to it in the center. Water features and fountains with blue fog represent the waters and gasses used by the oracles. The station itself is themed on more modern Greek architecture as would be found in locations like Santorini.

Excitement: 57.9 (High)

Intensity: 6.5 (Low)

Nausea: 2.0 (Very low)

Decoration: Amazing

Approximate Cost: ~$5,990.75

Approximate Cost (without decoration): ~$1,944.00

Duration: 3:19

Capacity: 24

Length: 590.61 ft

Length underground: 0 ft

This is a shared account for this game. We will typically have one entry each in each competition. :)

PSA: Creative but lazy scammers at DELPHI

So I've seen a lot of coverage of this in the /r/ethereum sub but have hardly seen any over here at ethtrader.

My first impression of Delphi without ANY knowledge of them: Sweet another prediction market, wonder what they will do different since we already have augur/gnosis. After a little digging and blatant shills in these subs, I am 99.999999999999% sure this is a scam.

Let's start with their code, it is a direct copy of the Gnosis github: https://github.com/delphi-markets/delphi-framework/commit/80c4d6fa0db50cf460bab4b01a6ef400c1348815 - as you can see they got a little lazy. I have also seen comments say that this is ok because they're fixing all of the issues gnosis has and making it "backwards compatible" with gnosis at the same time. They didn't notify anyone or even have the BIG BANNER on their website until they got caught. For Delphi to COPY PASTE the gnosis code then proceed to trash talk them seems a little scammy right off the bat.

So next we have some posts made by the same Delphi peeps.

https://np.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/6ne2k2/gnosis_is_now_a_defunct_project_delphi_goes_for/?st=j5pg8nza&sh=78ad366b

https://np.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/6pzocw/delphimarkets_reveals_their_master_plan/?st=j5ntdlms&sh=1fbf4fe0

https://np.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/6q8m5z/delphi_is_a_huge_scam_please_dont_give_them_any/?st=j5pfzy2v&sh=04ebfdba

https://np.reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/6q1xiw/delphi_developer_incentives_critical_issues/?st=j5pg0g39&sh=7ca39213

This is where the bots or multiple accounts start to come in and brigade with downvotes on anyone opposing Delphi, and upvotes for the same broken record argument. They are going SO FAR to censor reddit on this ICO and it's fucking gross. You can see the same users/same argument used in every single thread. Let's see if they end up here too :) Stay away from this scam my fellow ethtraders.

Reports of suspicious man chasing teenage girls at a park 3 hours from Delphi

Hey guys. I've never posted but have been lurking for a long time, and this has been in the news here lately. The guy was said to run after them and did "some lewd stuff".

Here's a link to a local news article. I've seen a couple others but this one has the most information.

>"Two young ladies, who I had passed earlier when they were jogging, came running out of the woods and they were frightened," a man who did not want to give his name said.

The guy is described as Hispanic/Latino but the original pic was so low quality that I feel like no one can say for sure that he's NOT Hispanic so I thought it was worth posting, and the build seems to fit.

What I learned at Delphi

So I decided to make the trip to Delphi. It was interesting. Obviously it looks different at this time of year than it does in Feb. It wasn't as big of an area as I expected. It was kind of isolated however. There is a gate warning that the bridge is under repair and do not trespass on private property. That is a non issue for me, as I have had a lifelong fear of bridges and would NEVER go out on that thing. Even if it becomes fully restored. It was touching to see the memorial at the point where the girls were dropped off and I definitely feel like I understand the area and the terrain better. I am more flabbergasted than ever on how he managed to kill two girls in the broad daylight in a public place.

The one thing that bothered me is that I stopped in a few places, gas station, pizza, etc. There were no picture of bg or the girls anywhere that I saw. I was very shocked by this. I told my family how I was surprised that there was nothing up and they said "well everyone in that town already knows" Still even though it is a little town there must be strangers (tourists) coming through and I would think the pictures would be plastered everywhere. Also I stopped a good hour after Delphi and there was nothing there either.

I am glad I went, even though I didn't see the bridge or down the hill, because it makes me more aware when people are talking about it. On a side note, the meat packing plant is more of a distance away than I realized and there was fertilizer plant a lot closer.

Expunge: Delphi

This season has had and amazing storyline. As a lore enjoyer and frequent player, I've loved this season's content. However I have really only one issue: Our fight against Quaria.

I've loved her character in lore since I started getting into it back in Forsaken, especially the idea of a Vex mind created solely to learn the Sword Logic in order to defeat Oryx. She kept the Vex in a war over a century long against the Hive and Taken lead by Oryx, and learned to Take herself by stimulating him. It was such an incredible power to see the Vex wield.

But then we get to the new expunge mission. It was interesting, yes I can't deny that. But it seriously nerfed the perceived strength of Quaria. Of course the end of the season hasn't come, and I guess there's no way to say if she'll return or not in the future, but nonetheless I feel like that confrontation was very underwhelming.

I feel like at the very least, we should've gotten a new Strike or Dungeon as our encounter against her. Something with multiple mechanics and of more subsistence.

But that's just my 2 cents. Let me know how you guys felt about it.

Is there enough evidence to determine either way whether Quark was the same Ferengi encountered by the Enterprise away team at Delphi Ardu? ("The Last Outpost")

Both characters were played by Armin Shimmerman; it is possible that the Ferengi who would be Quark was impressed by the Federation's "naΓ―vetΓ©" regarding profit, and reinvented himself as a freelance trader under names like Bractor, working his way through Federation space, burning bridge after bridge, eventually ending up on Terok Nor as a bartender exploiting Cardassian customers (who he must have decided were even more gullible--or at least not yet wanting to imprison him for fraud and other commercial crimes). By this time he had been going under the whimsical alias 'Quark' borrowed from the English term because he thought there might be profit in it, and it seems to have worked for him better than the older names that now carry too much 'baggage'.
