A list of puns related to "Oxalis acetosella"
Hello ! Sorry for my english I am french. During the previous year, I brought back some Oxalis acetosella from my holidays and they have been doing well until this winter which damaged a little bit the leaves. But anyway, they survived and now, the meteo says that it is going to be as low as -10Β°C in a few days. What I would like to know is, has the plant got enough "cold dormancy" for this year ? Because I would like to bring it back indoors under grow lights for the last few frost because theses Oxalis are very young, soo, they aren't very frost resistant. (Well installed specimens are able to survive temperatures which are way lower than -10Β°C I think because I found them at an altitude of 500-600m.) Sincerely, Jack,
I have used it for years to make homemade fluorescent yellow dye and just today learned it's proper name. As a little kid I loved eating the stuff and (being the expirimenter I was) I tried to make a dye out of the really bright yellow flowers for a science project. Long story short it gives a beautiful light yellow color to whatever you dye with it. After having used it for so long, I am curious what gives it its color.
Edit: scientific name is Oxalis pes-caprae, not O. acetocella. Wrote down wrong species. xD
I saw this conversation in /r/mildlyinteresting and saw that the Oxalis acetosella is called "rabbit's cabbage" in Lithuanian, Estonian and Czech, and here in Sweden we call it "hare acid" (harsyra).
Why all the rabbits and hares? And are there more languages where its name is somewhat bunny related?
My grandma gave me an Irish Shamrock plant (Oxalis acetosella) for St. Patrick's day this year. It's been doing well so far but now many of the leaves/shoots are starting to turn brown and die. I read somewhere that shamrocks go dormant every once in a while, but it didn't say much else about it. I haven't done anything to it to kill it, I've just been watering it when it needs it (I'm definitely not underwatering, and I don't really think I've overwatered, either)
Note: Please do not use online guides as your main source of information. Be aware that if you are doing any sort of foraging this needs to be done with extreme care and knowledge - if you are foraging please talk to local and experienced people first. As for reddit r/foraging tends to be a good source of info.

So youβre stranded in the wilderness. You consumed the last nub of your Clif Bar two days ago, and now youβre feeling famished. Civilization is still several days away, and you need to keep up your strength. The greenery all around you is looking more and more appetizing. But what to nibble on? Some plants will keep you alive and are chock full of essential vitamins and minerals, while some could make you violently illβ¦.or even kill you.
Which of course makes properΒ identification absolutely critical.
Below weβve given a primer on 19 common edible wild plants. Look them over and commit the plants to memory. If youβd like to discover even more edible wild plants, we suggest checking out the SAS Survival Handbook and the U.S. Army Survival Manual.
In the coming months, weβll be publishing articles on edible wild roots, berries, and fungi. So stay tuned.
If you canβt clearly identify a plant and you donβt know if itβs poisonous, itβs better to be safe than sorry. Steer clear from a plant if it has:
Many toxic plants will exhibit one or more of the above characteristics. Bear in mind that some of the plants we suggest below have some of these attributes, yet theyβre still edible. The characteristics listed are just guidelines for when youβre not confident about what youβre dealing with. If you want to be completely sure that an unknown plant is edible, and you have a day or two to spare, you can always perform the [Universal Edibility Test.](htt

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
