A list of puns related to "Melanie Martinez"
I follow her since the beginning and I remember I really thought she would get big like Doja cat for example, but now that so much time as passed and with her last album I think she probably never will, what do you think?
Imagine having a whole Mel fashion line like having all the outfits from K-12 the music videos and just other outfits that Melanie would wear !
Iβve been looking high and low for any Melanie Martinez vinyl and I see that people are selling them for over $100 & I donβt want to spend that much for one singular vinyl record , does anyone have one that will sell me one for like $35 + shipping and etc please , I have been looking for one and some places are even sold out of all 3 of her albums.
What was the first song of hers that you knew and liked.
Mine was either Mad Hatter or Dollhouse. I donβt remember which one though.
I heard the song on tiktok but it was a slower version but it has no lyrics.
Edit: Sounds similar to cry baby too.
Last night I dreamed that MM3 came out early and Melanie Martinez was at my house and we were watching the film together. She was super nice and cute and we were like best friends!!!
As for the film, I remember the DVD/album cover having alot of pink on it, and pictures of green leaves. I didn't pay attention to what the title was. In the opening scene, I think Angelita was fighting someone 0_0
This was just a dream so please don't take this as anything lmao but it would be funny if that all turned out to be true
To my knowledge, Gingerbread Man is her only song remotely related to the holidays. But what if there were more? (And I'm not talking about covers of existing holiday songs)
What would she name the album and what song titles could be on it? What kind of themes/topics do you think she would talk about in the lyrics (based on the title you chose)?
This is partly inspired by u/lizzieladder's post from yesterday :)

Yeah. That 'Teacher's Pet' edit on TikTok has got me feeling things... the phrase 'f-you don't you leave me here' sounds like my eatining disorder talking to me... if ykyk
It's like every other TikTok tagged under age regression in some way uses her music, whether in instrumentals or just playing parts of her songs (maybe the "clean" version). Same with little space playlists that people make on YouTube.
And like, I understand how people would think to put it on there due to a lot of her music having the same aesthetic and often even being titled in a way people might conflate with little space (especially songs like "Sippy Cup")
But also, her music delves into incredibly dark themes and triggering experiences, especially if you've have experiences with >!sexual assault, grooming, drug use, eating disorders, kidnapping,!< and other things
Which idk, maybe that fits with age regression having more serious undertones outside of the cute aesthetic since a lot of people do use it as a healthier way to cope with things like, similar to how a lot of listen to Melanie Martinez for the same reason (I'm almost certain there's a lot of crossover between agere and her fans because of it)
But at the same time, especially if you're in little space while going through these, it seems like it could be really easy to get triggered by the music which can lead to complete misery for at least a few hours
Idk maybe it's just me who feels weird about it but I'm interested to see what you guys think
Sort of a random question. I know she briefly hit 17.4 million monthly listeners when her songs were going viral on TikTok, but was wondering if her numbers weβre bigger when her debut album first came out on Spotify? If anyone knows or has screenshots, thatβs be helpful!
Looking to buy either the Hot Topic pink/clear exclusive or the webstore picture disc for Melanie Martinez's Cry Baby. Hoping to pay somewhere in between Discogs median and the price currently listed. Let me know if you have either of them and are willing to sell!
Edit: So I've been informed that this actually is what the song is about according to Melanie...whoops! Thought I was being unique but was simply stating facts. π But please feel free to offer up alternative interpretations in the comments!
What I mean by the title is, what does a particular Mel song say to you that others might not see?
My unpopular opinion is about The Principal. I believe this song is a commentary on U.S. politics at the time she wrote it, which would've been anywhere between 2016 - 2019, placing Donald Trump as the president during that term. Now now I'm not tryna get into an argument, but let's be honest, the man was and is hated by many. I truly believe that Trump is "the principal" in the song. To quote some lyrics:
He is sneaky, greedy, money seeking. A cruel motherf***er. Hurts people just to get his money. (This is just from the first verse)
"Prescription pills and online fights" - potentially refers to how active he was on social media, fighting with whoever.
"All you want is cash and hype" - I think this describes many politicians these days, including Trump.
I could go on, but overall, the song seems very very political to me even though it is, at face value, just about a school and its corrupt administration. Replace the school with the United States and the principal with Trump, and the lyrics could stay the same.
Melanie is known to go DEEP with her metaphors/hidden meanings in her lyrics, so I wouldn't be surprised if my theory was correct. After all, her music is about real life- not about some fantasy boarding school where this one kid breaks into song every 10 minutes. The imagery and aesthetics are just a front to make the information easy to digest, and of course, enjoyable to a general music audience.
Also lemme backtrack for a sec, if you are a Trump supporter, I am NOT coming at you, and I expect you to refrain from coming at me in the comments. This is NOT a political debate- I am simply analyzing a song and sharing my findings, which did unfortunately require me to reveal my personal opinions about a political topic. However, this was necessary in order to get my message across thoroughly.
Anyway! This turned into more of an essay than I intended. I hope you enjoyed my interpretation and analysis of The Principal- if I think of any other songs I have unique opinions about, maybe I'll add those to the comments. But, I am looking forward to seeing all of your thoughts as well! Show me what's going on
