it take special kind of retard to run this start up and this company is the perfect example of the current U.S. tech bubble/IPO.
WeWork, Uber, Lfyt, BYND...etc. i can't wait for the bust to short the fuck out of all these billion dollar unicorn tech companies.
Hi everyone, I collected information on every single startup that just raised money.
I thought it might help, since so many companies are cutting their expenses and budgets right now.
You can download the list and do whatever you want with it. Enjoy :)
(note: this post is not about career advancement per se, but more about personal satisfaction)
That was my experience at a popular tech company in the bay area. Looking back, it was a humbling experience because the company has a just one core product and it is difficult to understand and learn how it all works. You can get presentations and slide shows during your training, but it takes weeks if not months to actually dabble here and there at the multitude of microservices to figure how how it all fits together. Good luck getting the time to do that if you are not touching any of those core services - say you're working on any of the hundreds of other ancillary services or products; you'll need to do it in your spare time then. It's sad if you spend more than a year or two there and look back and have no idea how the damn thing actually works.
Hello everyone,
A little summary of the situation:
Currently I'm working for a well-known, well-established company in my country as software engineer. My salary is above average but nothing so special. Recently, I received an offer from a former manager of mine (who was on my current company) to join his team in a small startup, which has funding but not clear business plan yet. He promised that I'll be more than satisfied financially. He clarified that there'll be pressure and probably overhours. In my current company, there's an excellent life balance and a good vibe. However, I'm quite young and don't have family duties yet.
I'm tempted, not only from the better money, but also for new technologies that I could learn. Although, I have fear such a transition could look negative in my CV later on, since I'm transitioning from a bigger company to a startup. Do you believe so? Would you get the offer?
Just for some context:
I'm a high school junior looking for a summer internship in cs/software engineering. I have decent programming experience because I'm taking APCSA ( CS 101 Equivalent in college probably) rn and I've worked on my robot in Java in FRC/FTC robotics along with the mechanical/electric side a bit. I'm based in San Jose. I've also got coursera courses in python (python for everybody all 5 courses) and an intro to html/css/java script course done.
I'm targeting mainly startups because I've heard that since startups are new(ish) compared to regular companies, they are constantly looking for new employees to work with. I've already got my resume and my cover letter finished and am now looking for startups. However, I can't seem to find a website to find a dedicated list of startups in my area. I'm planning on using this website to either apply as a summer intern directly or cold email a person higher up.
Could anyone direct me to a website and/or resources please?
I have a few to add to the list. Want to make sure these companies are held accountable to an appropriate degree.
