Hi guys! So I've been digging into my ancestor history, spending 5 hours a day, trying to figure out the mystery behind the last names of my distant grandparents. They were born in Sweden in the early 1800s but came to the US (like so many did), and late records list the husband's name as John Lambert, married to Augusta Lambert. But as I get into earlier US Census records, his name starts to appear as Lars Johan Lambert. And the only matching records from there the names become Lars Lundberg, married to Hedda Charlotta. Augusta's first name also becomes Hedda (with Lundberg and/or Lambert as last name). I don't want to add these people to my family tree if they are not the same people so I was wondering... is it common for Swedish names to change like that throughout the decades? Is Lambert the English translation for the Swedish Lundberg name? For the most part, their DOBs, arrival dates and children's names mostly match. I'm so confused! Me and my grandma appreciates the help :)
Yes, Iβm fully on board with the criticisms of him being the mouthpiece for Men of the Year, but last night Dan was fucking fire on the mic. An economy of words, eloquent, succinct and sharp. Just a masterclass that Heenan would prob even be proud of.
Edit: His hoodie last night also looked cozy as hell.

I know this has probably already been said on here but hey Iβm new and I want to vent. Iβve read the books and played the games but to be fair I read most of the books and played the first 2 games YEARS ago so Iβm mostly basing stuff off of wild hunt.
Anyway.
Vesemir came across as cold, washed up and dumb. He aways struck me as warmer and wiser in the books and games.
Lambert and the other Witchers honestly just came across as basically uneducated, stupid and boorish drunks who are also creepy and pervy. I could not stand how Lambert and Eskel were portrayed. Yeah they can enjoy their whiskey and whoring but their mannerisms, accents, dialogue and general demeanor where so off putting. The relationship dynamic and banter between the Witchers in the game was a lot smarter, nuanced and witty. Basically they are just chest thumping dumb bros in the tv show cackling drunkenly at each other, saying βfuckβ a lot and generally being painful to watch.
I was really looking forward to seeing Gerald interacting with the other wolf school Witchers because in the games you kind of get this feeling that heβs this big grumpy badass and then he goes home and you see that yeah heβs a bad ass but heβs also the somewhat nerdy big brother that everyone teases for being too idealistic. Yeah Lambert is kind of prick but heβs not supposed to be an ignorant boor.
Donβt even get me started on Eskel.
Can season 3 just be Geralt and Jaskier travelling around bickering and killing monsters.
Edit:
So seeing a lot of the comments I think maybe whatβs also bothering me is how little they fleshed out the characters of the other Witchers. I think if they showed more interaction between them and Geralt or Vesemir that wasnβt in the midst of some emergency, fight scene or conflict. Having gone through Witcher training and the trials the fact that some of them are more caustic and bitter like Lambert makes sense but you only see like a 2 second flashback from Vesemir of all the boys dying during their mutations. The scene in s1 where Geralt talks to his mother about abandoning him to become a Witcher is great I just wish they explore that more from the perspective of the other guys. They are all meant to be bonded by shared trauma and hardship but I feel like that just gets glossed over for the whole βIβm a Witcher and I whore around, drink and do morally questionable things because hurrrrr manly reasonsβ.
I mean the prostitute orgy also made zero sense but hey.
Iβm studying the Tudors, and at the moment am noticing a divide between the names of commoners - Lambeth, Perkin - and nobility - Henry, Richard, John.
Seeing as the latter set are regarded as typical, normal names and are still pretty prevalent today: when, why and how did ordinary people move away from such names as Lambeth and start adopting those of the upper classes? Was it a smooth, natural transition?
Thanks very much!
Hey folks, this is a long shot but Iβm trying anyway. My grandmother was born in 1927 and when she was around 20 years old, she was proposed to by a gentleman named Leo Lambert that was in the US military (donβt know which branch unfortunately) and was living in Bedford, New Hampshire.
My grandmother was living near Quebec City and Leo proposed in Quebec. Unfortunately, my grandmotherβs mother forbade the proposal and that was the end of it.
My grandmother was then forced to marry someone else that she didnβt like (my grandfather) who ended up being violent and terrorized all the family.
My brothers and I went to see our grandmother last weekend and she was still reminiscing about her Leo and how she felt saddened that she had obeyed her mother and complied with her will even though she adamantly disagreed with her.
So, long story short, it would be a nice closure for her to know what happened to Leo so Iβm starting my research to try to give her that closure. If anyone has information or can guide me on where I could find more, that would be appreciated.
Hereβs a picture of Leo that sheβs kept for all those years:

His Description: I've got a real beauty for you kids today. Custom Kirby Lambert Augustus that I won here about 2 years ago. Since owning it, it's only been taken out for photographs; never carried by me, and never used to cut anything. Sporting a 3.5" recurve tanto blade in CTS-XHP steel with that classic aggressive Lambert compound grind. The bolsters are a mesmerizing Damasteel that seem to twist and turn before your very eyes. The handles are carbon fiber and features a full zirconium pocket clip. The centering and lockup are beautiful and solid. The detent is dialed in so perfectly, rocketing the blade out with authority and dropping shut under its own weight. The only flaws that I can find are a mark on the edge of the clip, and a very small snail trail on the bottom edge of the knife. I'm going to miss owning this one, but financial obligations take precedence over worldly wants right now. Comes with knife and logo'd zipper pouch that's been signed by Kirby.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Team Taz (outside of Hook) has been taking major Lβs since the Darby feud. Even giving Lβs amongst each other when Cage and Starks were beefing.
Lambertβs guys and MotY have not exactly picked up a major win either.
I think Lambert and Taz are brilliant on the mic. But they each need a big win to brag about and rub in. Maybe Hook will break this, and the two stables can form an alliance.
