A list of puns related to "Keratolytic"
I know that salicylic acid can help keep your skin clear by breaking down dead skin cells, but why doesn't it break down our hair? Hair is made of keratin and is dead. I was looking into hey salicylic acid shampoo and started to wonder this. The only answers I can find online are a bunch of general information medical pages repeating the same information. I can't find any information out there about the actual mode of action on skin or hair.
Really not sure if this is chemistry or human body, but I put it under chemistry because I think it's more about the chemical reaction.
I tolerate both medications well topically and have used them for acne. However, I am wondering which may be better in the long-run for anti-aging or itβs keratolytic effects. Thereβs more data for tretinoin in anti-aging as it has been around for longer, and itβs notable for promoting peeling of the affected skin areas and uncloging pores. Tazarotene is used in treatment of psoriasis, and Iβve read that data shows itβs more robust for acne. Iβm not sure how to weigh the benefits of both drugs, especially considering they have new, cosmetically elegant lotion formulas.
Edit:
Thank you for any responses and opinions! I know there are limited studies comparing both drugs, but I still wanted to get different opinions and factor them in when choosing! Currently, I donβt have as much of an issue with persistent acne but more problems with clogged pores (I have also used BHA and clay masks in the daytime). Is there any opinions on their effectiveness as a keratolytic agent in comparison to each other?
If anyone could give me a breakdown, I would really appreciate it!
Thats it. That's the question lol.
Recently started using Eucerin's Advanced Repair Lotion, and like it a lot.
Urea is the third ingredient listed, and I'm wondering if it will act as an exfoliant at that level (I'm actually hoping it doesn't, in this case)? It's behind glycerin, which I'm guessing is possibly 4 or 5%.
Other products that use Urea and advertise as an exfoliant include Skinceuticals Retexturizing Activator, which shows 25%. So, is it reasonable to assume that Urea at 3 or 4% is not likely to break up any skin?
I see BHA being described as an exfoliant in many products, but will actually break up/remove skin cells, in the way that an AHA will?
Or, does it have the potential to do so, but at a higher % than in most popular products (which seem to be about 2 to 4 %) ?
Every winter the skin from my palms and soles decide to shed slowly and by the time it's late January I have a new 'fresh' skin for the new year.
It becomes increasingly difficult during these months to hold anything warm or hot like a mug of tea, sometimes even writing is an issue because the skin gets tight and the new skin is raw. It's even awkward to shake hands cause my palms are peeling and rough.
Applying any kind of moisturizer doesn't seem to do much, cause my palms tend to get sweaty and the product just sits on top. It's easier with the feet cause I can put on some socks and closed shoes.
Google tells me it's a genetic condition called Keratolytic winter erythema.
I would just like to know if there is anyone else here who has the same issue, and how do you deal with the same.
So from my understanding of the research I've done on ingredients, a lot of commonly reccommended ingredients for acne, keratosis pilaris, etc are keratolytics. Some ingredients I've seen referred to as keratolytics are benzoyl peroxide, urea, and sulfur. BHAs are also, if I understand correctly, effective because they are keratolytic. So some questions/topics of discussion I'd like to talk about are:
-Are ingredients like sulfur/urea/bp also considered chemical exfoliants
-Does anyone use these ingredients instead of acids
-If you use both, do you avoid using them at the same time to avoid over exfoliation
-What are your favorite products (AB or non-AB) with these ingredients
Really interested to hear what everyone thinks!
I went to see dermatologist and he prescribed me 5% benzoyl peroxide cream. After leaving it on the papules of my face for one time without moisturizer as spot treatment, they evolved into pustules surrounding with small dark redness. Is this normal? Should I apply moisturizer after leaving it on better? Besides that, can I leave benzoyl peroxide on the tiny little bumps of my face area which can flare from time to time (folliculitis)? Is benzoyl peroxide antifungal and keratolytic?
I constantly research treatments for keratosis pilaris (a skin condition) and I recently discovered a treatment by a company called Aseptic MD. Their skin care line mainly consists of cleansers and toners and the main ingredient is dioxicare, a derivative of chlorine dioxide. They claim chlorine dioxide is a safe yet effective treatment for acne and keratosis pilaris since it is an antibacterial and a keratolytic. The products were developed by a dermatologist, Dr. Zirwas, and he wrote an article in the JDD (Journal of Drugs in Dermatology) about how chlorine dioxide is effective at treating keratosis pilaris. I was wondering if chlorine dioxide is truly safe for the skin and if there are any more studies about chlorine dioxide in skin care products. Iβm very curious about these products but I am also very wary of them since there is a small amount of information on how chlorine dioxide affects human skin.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I did three rounds of oral ivermectin. I also did permethrin. Iβve been cleaning throughly and have been careful. But I think theyβre back. Or they never left since thereβs been an outbreak at my job (nursing home, all the residents have been treated prophylactically). Iβm just tired. I did not sleep at all last night, and I keep seeing redness all over. Iβm itchy from head to toe. My brain is telling me Iβm seeing burrows and bumps. I donβt know if thatβs even true. I really, really need some advice or reassurance.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!

Because she wanted to see the task manager.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
There hasn't been a post all year!
