It's the Battle for the Old Oaken Bucket!
After last year's game got cancelled due to COVID, the Hooisers go up to West Lafayette to face off against the Boilermakers. Indiana will try one last time to earn a conference win - and keep the Bucket in Bloomington - while Purdue will aim to earn 8 wins for the first time since 2007.

In May of 2018, many people were putting together state cups where they traced a traveling trophy between teams in a given state dating back to the first college football game between two teams in that state. Following this trend, I put together the Indiana Cup.
Purdue took the Indiana Cup from Indiana and will next try to defend it against Indiana State on September 10th, 2022.

Congrats to Brady Allen on winning a very great honor. A testament to the hard work he's put in playing football at Gibson Southern High school and a terrific season. Can't wait to see his potential on display at Ross Ade in the years to come.

ISU: Pros- Cars for freshman Originally a teacher’s college Great dorms I have guaranteed honors college admission Many student teaching opportunities Cons- Few student organizations Classes fill up quickly Few study areas
Purdue- Pros- Location is perfect distance away from home Prestige Culture is familiar and fun Academics are important to everyone Campus size/college size are both perfect Many opportunities Diverse class selection Cons- Stem school Old buildings
I feel as if I would be missing something (college experience) if I didn’t attend Purdue. I’m already comfortable with the campus, and I love the big college feel. I also feel like ISU has so many things that would make my life easier. I’m more familiar with west Lafayette, and the drive to terre haute is long and annoying.
2-0 to start the season. 5 Takeaways
- There are two guys on this team that opposing teams will put alot of focus on. The first is Jaden Ivey. On both offense and defense he plays hard like a man on a mission. Against the sycamores, he was everywhere on the hardwood never letting up and giving 100 all night long. He's not a guy you want to lose track of at any juncture in the game. What a night for the Mishawaka Flyer scoring a career high 27 points. As long as Ivey plays up to his standards and leads the way, Purdue can achive some special things this season.
- The other guy that will garner the focus of the opposition is Zach Edey. Just like tonight This man is going to cause all kinds of problems in the paint for those who play against the Boilermakers. We all know he's the tallest guy in basketball, but also he's efficient at the free throw line, shoots well in the paint, he is showing improvement in defending the paint, and its difficult for opposing offenses to move him around. Like Ivey, Edey also had a career high in points with 22 so what a night for him as well. He's earning his starting minutes so far. With him playing poised basketball to open the new season, the Boilermakers are building a poise like nothing we have ever seen. The Ivey and Edey show is perhaps the most crucial element in the success of the team this season.
- In addition This team's depth will be crucial to success. In two games so far, we are learning quite a bit about the depth of Purdue basketball. Trevion Williams may not be starting, but he's defenitly making sure his presence is felt. I'll admit I was too worried about him not scoring enough points last game that I overlooked how efficient he was passing the ball and rebounding, both of which are a big part of his game. This may very well be a year where he doesn't have to score so many points. This may be a year where he opens up other elements of his game or elments within elements and going forward to the Pros such as passing, rebounding, and shoot maybe even 3's like the one he had tonight. He and Zach are complimenting each other very well so far. Also I really like what I see from Caleb Furst. Plays hard, stays involved play to play, can score difficult points to get, and keeps moving when he needs to do. Based on observation guys like Ethan Morton, Brandon Newman, and Isaiah Thompson having taken strides forward.
