Hi!! 2 days ago I got my first response and it was an admit. As elated as I am, it is written on the letter to accept it within a month. Purdue is an amazing university and I don't want to pass the opportunity but I also don't want to make a choice before I even know my options, for all my other decisions would come much later. Any idea if there is a work around this deadline?
Also any idea about how to apply for financial aid or scholarships? Any information would be really useful. Thanks in advance!
Aerospace/Mechanical engineering, which is better ? Edit:hypothetical scenario
Hi all,
I'll likely be applying to two programs for law school -- University of Denver (Sturm College of Law) and Syracuse University's Interactive JD. I am considering Purdue University's Online JD through Concord Law, but I know that it would only qualify me to sit for the CA bar exam, as it is not accredited through the ABA. My question is once you obtain licensure through the CA bar, what other states would allow you to sit for their exam? I know that California doesn't have reciprocity with any other state and that you are supposed to contact each state's body individually, but I'm curious if anyone knows.
TIA
The fact that one of the best and highly educated schools in the country has not mandated the vaccine while other schools such as Notre Dame, Butler, and even our arch-nemesis IU are requiring the vaccine for their students and we, the best school in the state of Indiana and one of the best in the nation, is not even requiring is plain ridiculous. It's not political, it's not a conspiracy, it's simply doing the right thing. The vaccine is safe and effective and Purdue offers them free to all students and staff and it's available at every pharmacy, health clinic, etc. Many of us want the pandemic and all of the downsides with it such as mask requirements, quarantining, etc to all end and the vaccine is simply our only way out of it.
That is all.
looking for exchange friends!! :)
Hello! A few weeks ago I was accepted to the BS computer science program at IUPUI with a 18000 USD scholarship resulting in a Cost of attendance of approximately 20k USD. Furthermore, I recently received a notification that I also received transfer credit (32 credits) based on my high school curriculum (A-level) as follows:
You have received credit for the following IUPUI courses:
I may or may not decide to attend IUPUI based on the answer to the questions below. I hope you can help me out:
I know that, especially in Computer Science, the university you graduate from does not matter but what matters are your skills. However, I may decide to go back to my home country or pursue a masters degree at a top 10 university in US or abroad. I know that Purdue is recognised throughout the world, therefore it is important to me that I get a Purdue University degree at IUPUI. I would attend Purdue University but It does not offer the same amount of scholarships as IUPUI for international students. Is there a chance that an agreement may be broken between IU and PU and we would not get a PU degree? Is there a chance that what happened at Fort Wayne would soon happen at IUPUI?
Based on my transfer credits, will I be able to complete my degree (120 credits) in 3-years
How are the professors, campus/party life?
Are there any co-op/internships/research opportunities for computer science students? Job fairs? Same amount of opportunities as the west Lafayette and Fort Wayne campus? I am already working on my data science skill and multiple projects so is there a chance that I can get an internship at an average to good tech company in Chicago with the help of IUPUI?
Can I transfer to the Purdue main campus in my last year and graduate within 1-year (i.e will all the credits be transferred)?
edit:
well, I found that the Sackler family donated to many schools: Columbia, Oxford, Harvard...However, it shows no direct connection to Purdue university, just the same name.
The univ even made a statement on this: https://www.purdue.edu/newsroom/releases/2018/purdue-university-statement-re-purdue-pharma.html
Iโm an international applicant. I had put Fort Wayne campus as my second choice and submitted the application. In the application checklist for this campus, โCredential Evaluationโ is shown as pending. The West Lafayette campus didnโt ask for it, and so I donโt have it. What to do now?
Edit: The application status for West Lafayette Camus is โawaiting decisionโ. So, there is no problem with that. But for Fort Wayne campus, itโs โawaiting materialโ.
Purdue Convocations is offering live, in-person performances once again this Spring semester! With Broadway hits like Waitress, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Jersey Boys, and Beautiful: A Carol King Story, Convocations is ready to entertain Purdue Boilermakers once again!

Machine learning systems use neural networks that are frequently too vast and sophisticated to quickly find the most basic explanation for an event or observation, a phenomenon known as parsimony.
In physical sciences, most models do not understand the underlying physics of the system in question, such as restrictions or symmetries. This limits their ability to generalize. Furthermore, most machine learning models are challenging to understand. That is, most machine learning algorithms cannot learn physics or justify their predictions. These limits are sometimes offset by large amounts of data in many subjects. But this is not always practicable in areas like materials science, where data acquisition is costly and time-intensive.
Recent research conducted by Purdue University researchers has discovered a technique that shows how machine learning may be used to uncover physical principles from data. They found that enforcing parsimony on artificial neural networks through โstochastic optimizationโ allows them to better balance simplicity and accuracy, extracting meaningful physics from data.

Calling all fellow Wikipedia editors, if any are out there! I've recently decided to propose a Wikipedia Wikiproject for Purdue University-related articles. This would help us improve existing articles and potentially create new ones. If you have a Wikipedia account, you can show your support for the proposal here, under support. In order to get this project off the ground and going, we ideally need about 8 editors but the more the merrier. Thank you all in advance!
Here are some of my thoughts:
ISU: Pros- Cars for freshman Originally a teacherโs college Great dorms I have guaranteed honors college admission Many student teaching opportunities Cons- Few student organizations Classes fill up quickly Few study areas
Purdue- Pros- Location is perfect distance away from home Prestige Culture is familiar and fun Academics are important to everyone Campus size/college size are both perfect Many opportunities Diverse class selection Cons- Stem school Old buildings
I feel as if I would be missing something (college experience) if I didnโt attend Purdue. Iโm already comfortable with the campus, and I love the big college feel. I also feel like ISU has so many things that would make my life easier. Iโm more familiar with west Lafayette, and the drive to terre haute is long and annoying.
