A list of puns related to "HomeKit"
Hello,
Im in the process of building a house and want to prepare for Homekit integration as much as possible from the start. Where do I start? Is there a guide to get started?
In your opinion; what is the best switches to use? I want "built in switches" so i can use both iPhone, Siri and the actual switch on the wall seamlessly.
thanks for your help!
Still having issues. High ping & lag in games. Wired or WiFi doesnβt matter.
Whereβs that promised SQM mode? (Very important)
Whereβs HomeKit support? (Not that important)
Not really looking for a generic answer like βcoming soonβ. We all heard that response since the eero 6 came out. Time for some real answers.
Iβll gladly refund this product if the eero team accepts a late return for the failed promises.
So this is all relatively new to me but Iβm trying to get the most out of my HomeKit. I havenβt had βnone responsiveβ devices for a very long time but Iβve noticed that the HomePod minis are pretty slow at transferring music from apple devices snd sometimes answering questions. A little about my setup:
I have a 2 BR apartment with a HomePod in every room (kitchen, living, dining and both rooms) I also have 4 iPads and an iphone. I have a relatively small smart home with about 20 devices (mostly hue) including a hue hub. So my apartment coverage should be more than enough with my setup. I also have 600 megs of WIFi with a WiFi 6 router and an extender in the master bedroom.
Iβm currently experimenting with dual bands 2.4 and 5 GHZ. I think most of my devices are on the 5 right now. I guess I donβt notice anything different but my provider keeps bugging me to switch to an auto setting to let the modem auto my devices to whatever GHZ is better.
Thoughts? Thanks for taking the time out and scanning my long post. Thanks!
Hello! Iβm getting ready to buy my first home and while Iβve had lights and a door lock in my apartment, Iβm curious to know what you homeowners have really loved having set up in your smart home. Iβm excited to dive further into HomeKit.
u/jlian provided this nuclear response to getting his router stable with homekit. I can surmise that this does in fact work, but that its a little overkill. I've been having trouble with some Meross products (in-wall switches, plugs, and a power bar) staying connected to homekit, they would go "unresponsive" fairly often. After researching each item Jlian disabled on his router I have concluded these were what fixed it for me:
My router is a RT-AC86U for reference. I dont think this is a lack of range issue considering some of these products were right near the router.
edit 1
Made a couple edits to be more clear which ones might be optional.
edit 2
more testing, crossed off the items that don't affect homekit stability.
I have a couple of Robot vacuums integrated with Home Assistant. I like to turn my lights on when the vacuums are running so they can "see". I know they do better in well lit areas. So now I have two automations turning the lights on at X time and starting the vacuum and then two automations turning the lights off when the vacuums stop running.
This generally works fine. No problems.
Today I've noticed that the lights turn on as programmed, the vacuums were still vacuuming as I was writing this, and random but not all lights upstairs have been turned off, and all of the basement lights have turned off. I turned the lights back on as they should be and they stayed on. Now that the vacuums are done and back on their docks all of the lights that should be off are turned off.
The only people who have access to my HomeKit are me and the wife. The wife doesn't mess with the lights so I know she's not messing with me . I also checked all of my shortcuts, scenes and automations. Nothing new, nothing has changed and without logging I have no idea what caused the lights to turn off. If the logging did exist I wonder what it would show happening, or if there would be anything I could even do about whatever the issue is.
As an aside this would be an awesome use case for being able to turn the lights on when the robot enters and turns them back off when the robot exits the room.
In a new home and needing blinds/shades/something for my bedroom because I like to sleep in total darkness so I thought I might as well go for some smart blinds. I found Hunter Douglas and 3 Day Blinds both claiming to have Homekit compatibility. Any experience with either one? Or others? Ultimately my #1 priority is darkness, so if there's nothing out there, I'll get some traditional window coverings but I figured why not...
Hey all. I've been working on a site to chronicle my newfound HomeKit hobby. I wanted to document and share my experiences building out a smart, sensible home following a couple of simple rules:
Each post will be one part problem solving and one part review. My first two posts are up now. I hope you enjoy them, and please don't hesitate to let me know what you think. Cheers!
Looking to get a router for better internet and am between a smarttthings wifi router (doubles as a hub which i like because if i want to switch to smartthings i already have a hub for it) or an eero homekit router. Just wondering what your experiences with homekit routers have been? it doesnβt seem like thereβs a lot of options in homekit for the router and would love to see them expand that in ios15 (for example checking device connections and wifi speeds in the app)
Thanks!
Loved this feature on my previous eero Pro and Iβm surprised it hasnβt yet been implemented on the newest model.
I've updated my blog post on my Jaguar I-Pace. I've now integrated it with HomeKit, via HomeBridge.
This will work for other Jaguar Land Rover vehicles that use InControl.

I just stumbled on an Amazon listing for the yet to be announced eufy Outdoor Cam Pro and in all the descriptions it only lists Alexa and Google Assistant which is disappointing.

I started getting this message yesterday in Apple HomeKit app for my Vizio TV βNo responseβ.
I unplugged the TV then plug back in hoping it would start working again. But Nope.
I rebooted the TV within the TV menu. That didnβt help either.
I looked at the TV smart menu area where you could setup your tv to HomeKit. I see the option for Amazon Alexa and google home but Apple home kit is nowhere to be found.
So if I wanted to setup TV to HomeKit, it canβt be done.
Help. Has been working great since I bought the TV a year ago.
Any suggestions how to get my TV setup for HomeKit again?
I've been fighting with this off an on for over a year - finally have a solid setup that I thought I'd share.
Using ffmpeg v3.1.2 on HB v1.3.4 and the following modifiers to input source for all cams;
-rtsp_transport tcp -probesize 32 -analyzeduration 0 -re -i
For the cameras themselves;
rtsp firmware 4.28.4.41 for v2's and 4.29.4.41 for pans - this was my main point of frustration. The newest firmware (4.28.4.49 and 4.29.4.49) borks the modifers that allow such a quick spin up of the stream.
Res is shoddy for the first few seconds, however for me the stream starting in ~1-2sec. is much more important. Hopefully this will help someone who, like me, has been pulling their hair out in frustration with this.
Currently running 6 cameras total, 3 pans and 3 v2s without issue.
Or even a way to DIY one?
Edit: not looking to replace my curtains , just want to upgrade my existing dumb curtains that you have to pull across the window.
I have two TCL televisions; a 75" and a 43". Both are models from 2020. They have built-in Roku and also support Airplay and HomeKit.
I have successfully added both TVs to HomeKit. I can turn them on and off using my phone, watch, and iPad.
How can I use Homekit to make them open specific apps like Youtube, HBO Max, or Plex?
It seems like every few weeks or month Homekit moves about 80 percent of my buttons to default and I have about 200 of them. Why does it do this and is there any way to stop it. It takes me a whole day of moving them back to the right rooms.

I am looking for a HomeKit enabled air purifier. I currently have a flowerbed from Voccolinc and enjoying that. Has anyone had any experience with their air purifier? I have severe allergies and am curious if it helps. Let me know your thoughts. If you are using a different HomeKit enabled air purifier let me know about that too.
