A list of puns related to "History of plant breeding"
So I am curious about plant breeding and whether doing it as a hobby is actually feasible, assuming you goit the time and space required. For instance, I love yarrow (achillea millefolium) and am living somewhere with close to perfect conditions for them, so there's a lot of wild yarrow growing around here. Last year I noticed a couple of wild yarrow plants with an interesting color palette. Is it as simple as collecting the seeds) optionally after crossing it with a close relative like achillea filipendulina), sowing them next year and hope the desired traits are present in the next generations as well? And then continue this for a couple of gens to ensure the desired traits are stable? Where can I find more information in case I want to dive deeper into this topic?
Hello, does anyone have a pdf of The Principles of Plant Breeding (Allard, 1960). Looked everywhere including library genesis without any luck. Thanks!

I still don't really know what level this tournament is supposed to be. One of the comments says its more like a GP?
Either way, 32 copies in the top 8 is a fundamental flaw. If JTMS or Goyf couldn't do it..

I would like to present to the population a new understanding of what βthe art of breedingβ is. Emphasis on the Art; though we will look to the role of science and its empirical observation to support our new understanding. This work must be prefaced with a cursory explanation of the knowledge sources and underlying principles of belief which will facilitate the True conclusions in the mind of the reader, as they are written here.
First I will preface that this information came to me by way of epiphanyβdirect and divine realization invoked by peaceful loving communion with the Father. In months preceding this "revelation"βor rather: a True insight as to the connectedness of many scientific observations these past centuriesβa significant experience with, as Terrence McKenna refers to them (and they most certainly Are), βThe Eldersβ; who are a unified consciousness of the many-nodes Fungi kingdom.
How diverse this kingdom of fungi consciousness is, I have no direct experienceβit is with the psilocybin sort (and I am ignorant of their state of sovereignty) which I am acquainted; for I have not directly experienced a known communication with any of the many edible and cooperative fungi I appreciateβyet fall silent toβat this time of my life.
I am thirty, and with a loving respect for The Elders, a few months ago I prayed, thanking the Elders only for the Knowledge of their many years which came to me as a Gift. It was overwhelming; for I saw that all movement is the inherent expression of consciousness; and so in any movementβbe it a leaf blowing or a door closingβthere is tangible and accessible information regarding its nature and purpose. And soβin the right frame of mindβgoing inward while observing outwardβall knowledge may be accessed. There is, I admit, some tendency to βjump the gunβ and see what one wants or intends to see, if one is not wholly at peace and receptive to the Truth of Motion.
And so this preface brings us to my intention: to present to you the history of man's observations and empirical research in breeding crop plants; to synthesize it all for your greater edification, and to use what are spiritual teachings to connect All these observations into a Unified Theory of Plant Breeding.
First let us start with our glue: The spiritual adhesive which connects all these many empirical evidences under a cohesive, demonstrable, proven system of Man-Plant interaction with plants for specific purposes (both

Lets get this show on the road, because I'm already behind growing out my parents. This information will end up in a wiki soon, and if you'd like to help develop and maintain that wiki I would happily accept volunteers.
Speaking of volunteers:
Please volunteer in the comments and I'll flag you with temporary flair (we will improve the system as we go along).

... keep reading on reddit β‘A couple years ago I came across Joseph Lofthouse's work on landrace gardening and developing open source varieties of staples foods for a more resilient food system. I've been incredible inspired since this and have been toying with ideas of my own βΒ and truly feel that landrace breeding could lead to a food-secure future, and a much more resilient, accessible food system.
Myself, I do carry around a small library of saved seed, but haven't been in an environment much longer than 3 years. The best I've got is some winter-safe kale and giant red mustard that can survive and grow through a zone 7 winter with minor protection. Unfortunately I've moved to a zone 6 semi arid zone so I'll have to start again.
