A list of puns related to "Glazing (window)"
A few years back I looked into getting a kind if faux double glazing. I want to look at it again but I just can not find what it is or who is installing it. Its this thick film stuff that sticks to the window glass itself. It was meant to br 80% as effective as actual double glazing.
A person even came over and did a demo for me using two windows in a frame and a heater. The filmed winfow let through considerably less heat from the heater thus proving its thermodynamic effectiveness.
Can anyone help?
(Its not the 3M film stuff you can get at a hardware store, this is a different product.)
I'm thinking to install a cat flap on my double glazing glass door/window. I did lots of Googling but I couldn't find any company to build a new double glazing window with a cat flap hole in it.
- Can you guys help me?
- What to look?
- Where to look?
- What are the keywords that I can search in Dutch in Google?
- Any similar experience?
I had to replace a pane of glass in my garage window and but the glazing still hasnβt hardened after over a month. Directions say it should take 7-14 days depending on the temperature. Itβs been in the 60-70s, well within the 40-90 degree range on the directions. I skipped the part about priming the sash with an oil based primer, but I canβt see how that would affect the curing time.
This is the glazing I using and my handy work. https://imgur.com/gallery/7WYNo7B
What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
My apartment is in need of new windows and I've gotten a quote recently, but I'm sure it's too high. Almost β¬50,000 for a 3 bed apartment (35m2 glass). Another company quoted β¬10,000 just for balcony doors. Am I getting ripped off? Estimates online suggest closer to β¬5000. The apartment is 100yrs old but not particularly special in any way. Anyone had experience with this? Any recommendations for other glass companies. Many thanks!
So 3m has this kit which is basically just a sheet of clear plastic and double sided tape, for $30. It seems like a roll of pallet wrap for $30 and some double sided tape would be by far the better option?
Also, for people that have used bubble wrap on their windows, do you just tape bubble wrap together to cover a window? Or do you need to use one continious sheet.
I've got one misted double glazed window in my kitchen, honestly half of the windows in the house are pretty knackered (don't open or just look like shit) as they're 15 years old, is there any point sorting one misted window if they're all going to need replaced within 5 years? just thinking about heat loss really I don't care about how it looks.
Front door composite 2 patio doors 2 average size windows downstairs 2 small windows (W/c and hallway) 6 upstairs
3 bed detached.
I know itβs impossible without measurements selecting products etc but there seems to be so much haggling going on I canβt get a sense of reality. Price drops of 4K etc.. typical salesman tactics. Does 8k sound reasonable? Iβm based in the south
My house has a lot of windows, and gets a lot of sun. In summer it gets really warm inside, even with AC on and blinds down. And things are fading like crazy.
Iβm wondering whether we should look at getting the windows tinted to reduce the heat. All our windows are double-glazed, and Iβve read that it can potentially damage them to have the heat reflected back out by the tinting?
Also, we have a great view and I worry that the tinting will make it dark inside and harder to see the view. Will our eyes just adjust? Do we need to get every window done so some of them arenβt super bright while others are dimmer?
I'm looking at Victorian tenement flats to buy and some of them are placed next to busy roads which are fairly audible even with double glazed windows being shut. To be fair the windows themselves looked a little old.
How much improvement in terms of noise isolation might one expect from updating double glazing to modern one? Is there a chance the poor soundproofing is not actually the windows themselves but rather the surrounding framing being sheit?
I'm planning to replace the windows in my house with double glazing and planning on having people come for estimation and looking for some advice so I can make sure I'm not getting ripped off or charged too much etc.
What are some things I should be aware of when they're over? Anything of importance to ask? What's the usual cost of replacing an entire house of windows with new ones?
Thanks in advance
My windows frame is dark and it faces West with Scorching son. It is only 1 year and the glazing bead is warped.
I know that the heat from the west facing is causing this and I am getting the beads replaced but is there anyway to mitigate this and reduce the risk that it would happen again. I am planting trees to help with the sun but it will take a few years to provide adequate shade.
Hi Homeimprovement,
I'm currently in the process of moving into my girlfriends brothers bedroom (which hasn't been used for a year and a bit) and there was a lot of mould, so i got scrubbing with the kits and it's working.
I sprayed some of the mould kit on the windows and i noticed bubbles forming inside the double glazing.
This bedroom has always been quite cold in the winter times (see your own breath) and i was just wondering if this could be a contributing factor with faulty windows?
Please tell me that this is normal!
