TL;DR Please read the whole thing, I put a lot of work into it. Basically Littlefinger was manipulating Sansa throughout the end of season 4, his plans in season 5 make sense, and Sansa grows more as a character in season 5 than most characters have throughout the course of the show.

A lot of people have criticized Sansa’s season 5 plotline, claiming that it basically ruined all the progress she made from season 1-4, that it made no sense, that it gave all of the dramatic moments and heroism to Theon instead of Sansa. These people are wrong. Sansa’s plot in season 5 is really phenomenal, and a brilliant culmination to her development in seasons one through four. In this fairly lengthy argument, I’m going to explain why I like season 5 Sansa so much, and how it managed to be an amazingly high impact plot despite minimal screen time. To begin, I’m going go to start with Sansa’s developments at the end of season 4, which are crucial to understanding her struggles in season 5. I’m then going to engage in a detailed analysis and defense of Littlefinger’s season 5 scheme to marry Sansa to Ramsay. All of this will lay crucial groundwork to explaining why Sansa’s plot in the latter half of season 5 was ultimately so rewarding.

Sansa and Littlefinger in season 4

We’ll start with Sansa at the end of season 4. For the first time in the history of the show, Sansa had power over someone who used to have power over her. Finally (we think), she’s become a player and not just a piece in the game of thrones. Littlefinger was at Sansa’s mercy: she could rat him out to the lords and ladies of the Vale. Sansa masterfully manipulates Lord Royce and company into seeing Littlefinger as a good guy who loved Lysa and wanted to protect Sansa as a way of establishing herself as a powerful and important figure in Vale politics. The honorable lords of the Vale now see her as the true heir to the north, and she has their tacit support. This was a brilliant move by Sansa. Afterwards, in conversation with Littlefinger, she explicitly states that she didn’t know the Vale lords as well as she knows Littlefinger, and so felt safer preserving Littlefinger’s position of power. It goes deeper than this however: if she had told the lords of the Vale that Littlefinger killed Lysa, Littlefinger would have been killed and Robin would have succeeded, presumably with Lord Royce or Lady Waynwood as regent. my neighbor has a female calico cat that we believe is around 15yrs old. she is constantly hanging around our home and trying to steal our cats' food. recently we have started to feed her seperate own bowls of food because she seems starving and is desperate to eat - she will eat 2 whole packets of food in one sitting if left alone.

she is very defensive, not necessarily aggressive but will hiss and growl if anyone comes near her. she will only attack if we get too close and is so very thankful for the food.

the cat is horribly skinny at the back end. her front appears fine, but the hind legs look like sticks, her belly doesn't have much (if any) fat and she is losing fur all over her tail. she used to be missing fur on her back but it seems to have gotten better iver the last few months. the rest of her fur is thin and scruffy, but she grooms herself fine.

i'm unable to touch her to feel her body condition but it's very clear from just looking that her spine is knobly like knuckles and her legs have no fat whatsoever. she has always walked very oddly but this is probably athritis from her old age

no matter how much we feed her, she is getting thinner and has never gotten comfortable being around us. she acts almost feral

we dont speak to the owner much but she says that the cat is fed at home so her skinny condition is confusing. the owner is elderly so it's possible she could be unknowingly neglecting the cat or not noticing it's body condition

I think the cat may be diabetic or hyperthyroidism, but am unsure if I should talk to the owner about this. I wouldn't want to be intruding and insulting her care of her cat unless it's serious and needs medical intervention

I really want to take her to the vet, but am unsure if this is just her losing muscle and weight with old age or even a condition that the owner may already be treating. but if she was recieving treatment she wouldnt have been skinny for so long, right?

does it sound serious enough to step in? or should I mind my own buisness? should I keep feeding kitty or am I doing more harm than good?

edit: im in no place to take the cat to the vet myself or talk to the owner. ive asked my parents to talk to her, and have even offered to pay for any treatment but their mindset is "its not our cat, not our responsibility". I've taken some pics of the cat to hopefully show a vet and ask for advice when I bring my own cat next time

I worked in a Detention facility that I Will call the upstate for the sake that all though I do not currently work there anymore, I still have friends there. We had a particular pod that was overflow for solitary confinement (23 hour lock down with 1 hour of free time). This unit was fairly dark, quite aside from the occasional inmate screaming expletives at the detention officers as they walked by every 30 minutes or so conducting a security tour. I feel it is important to describe the pod's set up as its unique to the other three pods on that floor. This pod was set up to hold 80 inmates with partition walls separating every 20 rooms or so. The portion of the pod where the inmates were held were two floors, the upper floor was more of a mezzanine with a simple guard rail and a single set of stairs leading up to it. There was no cage or fence preventing anyone from jumping over the rail and experiencing a 20 foot drop to sudden stop onto the concrete floor below (this is important for later). The pod itself was generally rather dark, cold, and mostly dead silent. The atmosphere was pretty depressing even just for us officers. With that being said, it shouldn't be too surprising that the pod was notorious for suicide attempts and a few successes.

When Covid had made its way to the states we ended up converting the unit to a quarantine unit for violent crimes or crimes against a minor. All of those solitary confinement inmates were either transferred to the Special Housing Unit (SHU- pronounced shoe), had their cases re-examined by our in house judge, or dropped entirely (The Covid pandemic was an interesting time to work in a jail). After the transition took place all of the violent criminals/gang affiliated/crimes against children inmates would be required to be quarantined in this pod for two weeks before being transferred to another part of the jail to await trial. In August of 2020 roughly 1700 hours (5 pm) I relieved the day shift officers of the pod. At that time it was our policy that out of the 20 rooms in the 4 separated sections of the pod only 4 inmates were to be allowed out for their 1 hour of free time. The inmates could use this time to shower, call out from the phones in the common area, watch T.V. or utilize the outside recreation area. I and one other officer from my shift conducted our mandatory guard tour of all 4 sections. We decided that it would be ideal that I take two sections and my other officer take the other two to split the w
