I know that diesel fuel is more efficient than gasoline (you get more bang from it), but i thought that that is already accounted for in the hp specifications? Do diesel engines produce more torque? The formula for hp is HP=Torque*Rpm/5252, so shouldnt it have bigger hp, since they produce more torque (i also know that diesel engines spin slower. AHHHH this is really confusing me!)
Many products flow through this pipeline. They are all programmed to go to the delivery point. I’ll admit Gasoline, all grades, diesel and jet fuel are the main products shipped, but that’s not all. Things you never think about, specialty oil and gas products for multiple other products will be affected. This could be a bigger deal than anyone has thought through. Man, this source of multiple products needs to flow. It could become a very big deal.
I bought a diesel car less than a year ago. At the time, diesel fuel cost about $0.15 more per gallon than gasoline. Just today I saw several stations where gasoline had dropped to more than a dollar lower than the diesel price. What's up with that?
I am trying to get a feel for the difference in price between gasoline and diesel on Sao Miguel for my trip next year. Trying to decide between a diesel and a gasoline vehicle.
Replacing my car and I've been driving mainly VW/Audi TDI's who were reliable and a pleasure to drive with (I appreciate the torque).
For example last year I looked into a KIA break for a mate, forgot the model but it had a 1.1L engine with 130 hp, and it's drinking less than the classic TDI's (under 4,5 liters/100km) with 7 year warranty. I don't know anything about the technology behind it, but say 10 years ago that would have been a 2-2.2L engine for the same hp, and you'd end up with 10 liters/100 km.
Really curious to hear about the experiences from the people who made the switch.
I read a question about why diesel isn't considered "green" anymore and wondered why not make a diesel engine that can also use gasoline?
