A list of puns related to "Four temperaments"
Hello friends! Iโm curious to know what which of Hippocratesโ four temperament you relate to. And how it is related to your mbti.
Iโm an INFJ and I know Iโm predominantly melancholic with some phlegmatic and possibly a pinch of choleric. Any infj out there who can relate?
Thanks guys:)

I know its probably not as accurate as Myer Briggs or even the Enneagram, but I'm curious - what do you usually get? I usually see Phlegmatic as being the most similar to INFP.
I usually get Melancholic, or Melancholic-Phlegmatic on tests that give you your blended type.

INFPs are claimed to be pure Phlegmatic in that website but I am Melancholic-Phlegmatic which matches with INFJ instead. Does your mbti type match with your temperament?

This is mostly based on the fan interpretations of the agents, but they've seem to be pretty accurate to the official material
Agents' personalities follow the four humors, or temperaments:
Agt/Cap'n 3: Melancholic Agt 4: Sanguine Agt 8: Phlegmatic New Agt 3: Choleric(?)
new 3's being hot-tempered is possible- a Mad Max-esque environment needs a bold attitude to survive.
sadly this might mean splatoon 3 could be the last installment according to this trope.
unless Splatoon 4 does a "five man band" trope, which I think the "smart guy" fits for an agt 5. maybe we'll abandon the squidbeak altogether?
What do you think will happen if the world is divided into four countries based on Keirsey Temperament?
(Assume the population of all four countries are the same and kids will have the temperament same as their parents. If the kid is mixed the kid will have the Temperament according to where he/she is born)
So recently I listened to Nielsen Symphonies (The four temperaments specially) and was thinking about the opposite question: Which composer represents which temperament ? Melancholich I suggest Chopin, phlegmatic I suggest Bruckner, Sanguine Mendelssohn and Choleric Beethoven. And you ? Any more Ideas ?
Some 2400 years ago, Hippocrates of Kos wrote some great books on medicine, and he stated in them his theory of personality: Four temperaments - Wikipedia He connected each temperament to a body fluid or "humor": Humorism - Wikipedia Along the way, these four body fluids were linked to the four traditional terrestrial elements: earth, water, air, and fire.
I'm not sure how the word got its familiar meaning, but a theory I've seen is that some centuries ago, these personality types were often presented as stereotypes that were played for laughs.
Enter psychologist Hans Eysenck - Wikipedia . In his 1947 book "Dimensions of Personality" he described two of them: extraversion (E) and neuroticism (N), two of the factors in the Big Five model. He also made the connection between E and N and the Four Temperaments model:
Type | Fluid | Element | Properties | Big Five |
---|---|---|---|---|
Sanguine | Blood | Air | Hot + Wet | +E -N |
Phlegmatic | Phlegm | Water | Cold + Wet | -E -N |
Choleric | Yellow bile | Fire | Hot + Dry | +E +N |
Melancholic | Black bile | Earth | Cold + Dry | -E +N |
The properties of the four elements fit the Big-Five factors E and N of the temperaments:
It must be noted that the Four Temperaments model has a flaw that is familiar from the MBTI: both E and N are binary in it.

IxxJ: the preserver
ExxP: the destroyer
IxxP: literal baby (except ISTP. Those guys are badass)

Beatus Veneris Piscium amici! The Mystic Remoras, those four handsome devils from Montana that stream cEDH every Friday on Twitch, are back to a regular old โJust the Remorasโ stream. Nothing Flashy (because itโs banned). ^^^^^Iโm ^^^^^sorry. Who are โThe Mystic Remorasโ? Thereโs Ian/MetalLegz (Choleric/Yellow Bile-a strong leader and hard worker, but hot tempered), Chris/WuShuSaint (Melancholic/Black Bile-brooding and sensitive, but can be blunt), Evan/MrJigglesworth (Phlegmatic/Phlegm-quiet and kind, but indifferent), and Sean/Mailing a Bear (Sanguine/Blood-Cheerful and people oriented, but too talkative and scatterbrained)

Howโs your May going so far? Have you picked up any new stuff from Commander 2020 or Ikoria yet? Whatโd you get? What are you most excited for picking up? Letโs talk about it in the comments!
Four fundamental personality types exist, and they are as follows:
Sanguine (enthusiastic, active, and social)
Choleric (short-tempered, fast, and irritable)
Melancholic (analytical, wise, and quiet)
Phlegmatic (relaxed and peaceful)
I always get phlegmatic
heres the test if anyone wants to take it: https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/O4TS/
trey = sanguine
jon = choleric
mike = melancholic
page = phlegmatic
The 4 types- NT NF SJ SP
My question is... why are Nโs paired with the third letter (T or F) and Sโs paired with the fourth letter (P or J)?
Also, if anyone could give a brief explanation of each group, that would be great as well!
I've been wanting to create a story lately that has a team of five characters and the Four Temperament Ensemble (including Supine/Eclectic) seems like a good way to balance their personalities. For if you've never heard of said trope.
I feel like this would allow me to be flexible with character personalities whilst keeping them all varied. What I've been wondering is what these personality types might look like if they were all "emotionally unstable." Choleric and melancholic are described as this but I'm wondering what Sanguine, Phlegmatic and Supine/Eclectic could look like if they weren't stable either.
Another idea that I had was making the characters seem like they fit with each personality type, but really they fit closer with another. For example, the Choleric would be presented as such and would seem fitting for that temperament. In reality, it's either a mask or something else that keeps them from showing that they're really Phlegmatic. I don't know how well this would work. Does anyone have any suggestions on what this could potentially look like or if this is even a good idea?
tl;dr: Making a story with a team of five taking inspiration from the Four (Five) Temperament Ensemble. Would I be able to make all of the characters "emotionally unstable," including the Sanguine, Phlegmatic and Supine/Eclectic ones? What would it look like if the characters appeared to fit in with the Temperaments but each truly fit in with another temperament?

I'm melancholic-phlegmatic (I relate to melancholic first, phlegmatic second, choleric third, sanguine fourth in that order). What is yours?
