With the latest patch dropping Gladiator his much needed tweaks, I was saddened to see that Ubi didn't tweak Gladiator's skewer or bash at all.

While the bash is another topic of discussion, it is absolutely bonkers that an unblockable like Gladiator's is still in the game.

For those of you unaware, Gladiator's Skewer is a 900ms unblockable that can be chained into from any attack besides toe-stab, bash, and zone. While that may sound good, the attack itself is awful. With very poor tracking, early dodges on orange can beat out the attack almost always, only beaten by a guardbreak on read.

What make's the attack worse, is the fact that if it is parried, it 9/10 times will put you OOS no matter what. But the true killer of this move and what makes it so unappealing in his kit is the fact that the animation of the attack itself gives away the parry window, making this move utterly useless against high level players, and even anyone who isn't OOS.

As he throws the attack, Gladiator lunges forward at the time of release. He doesn't do this in the feint animation which is very counter intuitive since you WANT a feint to look convincing. There should not be an attack in this game, 11 seasons into it's lifespan, that is given away by an animation that any player can consistently react to without much effort. Especially a 900ms attack.

This further proves my theory that, without his zone attack, Gladiator would be D tier at best.

From the brochure description and the fact its called a "Capital Killer", despite been a Heavy Fighter like the Vanguard line or the Hurricane, the Ares has more in common role wise to a bomber.

Where a torpedo bomber will hit harder, it has to return to base/carrier to rearm once its fired all its missiles, while a squadron of Ares Ion's can keep the pressure up on the target without needing to rearm.

While the Vanguard is a long range heavy patrol fighter designed for long missions, the Ares is a long range strike fighter. It, much like the Eclipse isn't designed to go out patrolling and doing random missions but designed for a specific goal in mind.

Your org is attacking another orgs fleet, you order the Ares squadron to launch from your base (a benefit of been long ranged, doesn't need a carrier), who come in and harass the enemy captials/gunships/large ships. Once the target(s) are destroyed you return for repairs and move onto the next mission.

If it’s a lifted with other fun mods okay but every time you see a basic off the lot gladiator..... come on.... really?!?

Low stamina cost allow for multiple feints to bait enemy attacks.

Quick heavy attacks shorten the feint timing allows fast reaction into counter plays. Second option on dodge (the dodge punch and the dodge light) makes deflect attempt much more safer.

All and all, multiple offensive tools with quick feint timing with low stamina cost with low dodging risk. A player can get created on mix up potential alone with multiple counter options react to his enemy attacks.
