A list of puns related to "Congregational Christian Churches"
Just more assessment that the behavior of religious groups has nothing to do with their faith and more to do with fitting into their self selected social group.
Let's be honest, we know where the drive to limit autonomy is coming from. It's the churches. I say we stand outside churches on Sundays and call everyone entering "murderers" like they do.

>! During the debate, one of the atheists pointed out that they were non-prophet organizations!<
I grew up evangelical but never was taught much about Christian history outside the New Testament period and the Reformation. When my family converted to Catholicism I learned all about the church fathers, the early councils, etc. and it was a whole new world for me. But I'm still curious if there are evangelicals or other Protestants who studied church history and if you have a particular perspective you want to share. Also, if you studied church history what caused you to remain Protestant and not become Catholic or Orthodox?
You know exactly what I'm talking about.
They'll dim the lights.
There will be an acoustic guitar playing a few notes.
The pastor is trying to guilt trip you into thinking a very specific way.
It's all manufactured and a form of emotional manipulation.
I'm not saying that nobody feels powerful emotions, I'm saying that it's all set in a specific way to manipulate the congregation emotionally.
When I was questioning my faith, I went to a weekend Christian retreat. It was, for the most part, a pretty fun weekend. Then, during one of the nightly sermons, they did all of this. Dim the lights. Acoustic guitar music playing. And I saw people falling to their knees. Or outright crying. It hit me like a truck that I felt nothing! I was wondering for quite some time if something was wrong with me. I later realized that it wasn't that something was wrong with me necessarily, I was just too skeptical to buy into the emotional manipulation at that moment. I very much suspect that I'm susceptible to emotional manipulation in the future. But, that's a separate discussion.
I am somebody who tends to get fairly easily immersed in the content I consume. I get pretty easily obsessed with TV shows, movies, and video games. On the TV front, my current obsessions are Wheel of Time (Loial is the fucking best, this is not up for debate) and Witcher. Those series are both so good!
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, I teared up when Aunt May died and I didn't even like that version of the character too much. But, Peter's emotions felt real that I couldn't help but tear up when he did.
On the video game front, this is something I experienced as a child and it still has an emotional impact on me 20 years later.

I don't get an opportunity to say this much since it's previously not been relevant to any points I've made, but I'm a huge fan of Kingdom Hearts. And I have to say that Sora's sacrifice means so much more to me than the "sacrifice" of Jesus does. Now, there's some slight manufactured emotion at play. Namely the piano chords playing a reprise of Hikari (the opening song from that game) but, I still get chills every time this moment happens. And this isn't even my favorite game in this particular franchise. The second one is. Don't even fucking get me started on Kingdom Hearts 2 and the goddamn feels I get throughout that game. I fall to pieces the moment Roxas says "looks like my vacat
... keep reading on reddit β‘I(F22) was talking to my friend about what was the dumbest dress code rule we have herd of. I completely understand alot of the basic rules like having a dress/ skirt being the proper length, not showing any any cleavage, ect. I understand that we can't just go to church and dress like we are going to a party or nightclub.
But not being able to wear any open toed shoes (i.e most heels , wedges , sandals , ) sounds pretty ridiculous. I'm just going to be honest , it sounds like a bunch of men made and agreed to this rule for women in my opinion
I would like to ask all of the Christian ladies of this sub what is the point of this rule ? Do you agree or disagree with it ?
