A list of puns related to "Congo Basin"
Greetings friends,
We would like to raise the question of whether or not slavery has any place in our shared society in the Congo River basin. Our recent expansions there have uncovered wide trading in the lives of humans, with conditions that would make one fan one's face with one's hand in shock.
We object to the very practice of slavery, and whilst in the old days we would be too small to do anything about it, with vast tracts of lands between us being disorganised and disaggregated, now is different. Africa it seems, has once again begun to be carved up, and Lwanda objects to slavers having claim over others.
Will you join us in condemning the practice of the buying and selling of slaves on the Congo River System, so that the people of this region can have a chance either to join our nations by community, or else remain independent, free from slavery in both cases?
On this, and any other matters you may wish to raise, we would be glad to hear your thoughts.
i have noted logging, illegal wildlife and agriculture but i feel like logging and agriculture both fall under deforestation so i need a problem that doesnβt fall in the same category. iβve done some research but there isnβt much other than alien/imported species but its not like the solution to that is to go around capturing alien species( correct me if im wrong). needs to be something i can go indepth into as well and provide examples and stuff.
I am currently reading βKing Leopoldβs Ghostβ which outlines the colonization of The Congo Basin. One of the chapters states: βitβs fan shaped web of tributaries constitute more than seven thousand miles of interconnecting waterways, a built-in transportation grid rivaled by few places on earth.β
What caused this abundance of rivers? Weβre they man-made, or were they a product of a geological event? Why are there so many rivers in the Congo?
Cryptids are animals and sometimes other living things that are said to exist through hearsay, folklore and/or historical records, but which lack conclusive evidence to be considered as existing by the scientific community.
Cryptids vary in liklihood and believability, from spacefaring alien species, to sea-serpents and thunderbirds, to lost hominid relatives, to unusual types of everyday wildlife. A goldmine for these mystery beasts (alongside other conflict-causing minerals) can be found in the Congo Basin of Central Africa.

One major aspect of the Congo basin, the Congo river and the deep Congo jungles to cryptid hunters is that they are so utterly unexplored. The Democratic republic of the Congo, which overlaps significantly with the Congo Basin, is 2.345 million kmΒ², an area larger than all of France, Germany and Spain altogether. There are tracts of jungle larger than entire countries with little to no penetration by anyone aside from local pygmy tribes, rainforest jungle swamps with treewalls as dense as fences and the forest floor over 1 meter underwater. It is notoriously difficult to penetrate for human beings by nature, and it doesn't help that the DRC is up there with Syria and Afghanistan as one of the most conflict-heavy and dangerous locations on planet earth. Many cryptids have been mentioned by explorers, ex-Belgian colonial administration and local Congolese tribes alike since the basin came into recorded history, and a few of these Cryptid animals have actually been discovered. For example, the Okapi, one of the few cryptids which turned out to be real animals, is native to the Congo.
Many believe that megafauna cryptids are simply too large to credibly have evaded modern science into 21st century, but this does not necessarily hold true for the Congo. The Congo river is extremely deep and it's encompassing basin is vast and widely unexplored (as mentioned before), but of even greater note is that it is highly dense in biological nutrients and resources. The Congolese river alone has been discovered to be essentially a supermachine for rapid speciation, the surrounding Northwestern Lowland forests are around the size of Great Britain and have had practically zero exploration nor settlement and their sis
