A list of puns related to "Cat righting reflex"
**LINK-----> CLICK HERE <-----LINK ** i couldn't post the link because someone already posted a link to the "cats" page on wikipedia but about something completely different. damn you reddit! and if this is a repost from somewhere, then please curse me the fuck out.
This happened yesterday and I feel absolutely miserable for it.
First off, I have had a cat for 16-17 years. I moved countries a few years back and left the cat with my family to care for. Sadly, his conditions were.... lacking for proper care. Apparently he had broken his knee and it was left to heal on itself. So, when I seized the moment to transport him, I did so. Absolutely thrilled to have brought my cat to my home as, heβs a rag doll cat and horribly attached to me. Was actually rather depressed I had to leave him.
Reasons I had to leave him behind was at the time, I moved to an apartment with a balcony and was terrified of well, obvious reasons and he would have panic attacks in the car. Not easy to transport him for half a days drive.
Anyways, yesterday my 16-17 year old cat now acting like a 4-5 year cat after being fed excellent food, taken on walks to strengthen his back legs from his suspected last break decided to jump on the table.
Hell, I was proud he got up there! He was attempting to jump across to the counter for some delicious fish I had set out for mine and my spouses dinner. I walk over to him, give him a look and proceeded to pick him up to set him down with a βI really wouldnβt do that.β Thinking if he made that jump, bad things would happen.
Well, those proceedings didnβt go as planned, at all. When I picked up my beloved fuzz bucket he took his. now extended arm and buried a claw, full length deep into my bare chest as I didnβt have a shirt on yet in my haste to prevent the cat from making the leap of death.
As reaction to his murder mitten being plunged as deep as it could possibly go into my oh so tender flesh, I popped his claw out and I am assuming in the same motion to get him away from me, tossed him a bit. He unfortunately went sliding across the floor into a crate and you guessed it, broke his knee open from a previously poorly healed break.
My spouse and I rush him to the vet for treatment, my eyes balling because I feel like the worst cat slave in the world to my old friend and overlord as, I broke his knee. It worsens as Iβm informed 2 things.
-We have to amputate the leg, the break is nasty. His bone is likely too soft for pins.
-Itβs a pathological fracture and he may have bone cancer
Well, I felt so much worse. I lit my old friends candle at both ends over a reaction to get his paw daggers out of my chest. Or heβs now stuck hobbling around on three legs after coming so far in just a couple short month
... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβve had my cat since he was 1 month old, he has practically imprinted on me to the point where whenever I sit down he gets in my lap. Me and my partner refer to him as our son, I love him very much.
Lately, at around 1 year of age, heβs been getting increasingly βmeanβ with his playing - biting at hands and wrists, winding up and charging at me, sometimes trying to scratch my face if itβs sticking out of the covers. He will charge at me basically anytime there isnβt a toy in front of him. This happens only at night, during the day heβs for the most part very sweet.
Now, a bigger concern of mine is how Iβve reacted since he started this, which has really taken me by surprise.
Sometimes, when he bites me, I will frantically though forcefully push him off my lap / away from me. In some cases, it feels like Iβm throwing him. This has happened a couple of times, and sometimes he will give me this vengeful look where his mouth hangs open and with angry eyes. Iβve read online this is very very bad and have tried to stop myself when he bites but he can still catch me by surprise.
As Iβve said, heβs basically my son but if my dad did this to me I would never forgive him. Iβve started putting toys in front of him whenever he winds up at me, and rewarding him with snuggles and treats for getting toys instead of biting, but he can go for hours. And sometimes, heβll get into my lap, be fine for a second and then suddenly start biting. Even right now, Iβm trying to distract him with a fishpole toy as I write this but heβs still winding at my hands.
Iβm terrified that my reflex is cat abuse, and Iβm hurting him physically, and conditioning him to be more violent. If Iβve hurt him, I could not forgive myself, but Iβm also going crazy with his constant need for very phyisical playing just to keep him from biting me.
Is there something Iβm not doing right when it comes to retraining him with toys? And have my pushes been interpreted as cruel?
Is it like a dog wagging their tail, or is it just a reflex? He's a super affectionate cat but I'm not sure if tail twitchies are good.
