Every underground scene is propped up by a media eco-system. NYC /LA rappers have songs that blow all the time because the rap media is centred in those places, so even though Atlanta/Chicago/Southern music has rivalled them in popularity, the media can prop up the local scene. (Ex. Bobby Shmurda, Young MA, BlueFace etc all had local hits that were pushed into international hits) London has great outlets for exposure and interviews for their artists as well.
It’s pretty amazing how many Toronto artists have a decent following with millions of views with 0 media coverage from anyone mainstream to promote it, it’s also remarkable that their is no viable independent media outlet for Toronto hip-hop even in 2021z
Why do you guys think this is the case? Are we that entrenched in our “screwface mentality” that there isn’t anyone who is willing to attempt this?

What a damn shame. Quebec is over 20% of Canada's population and there's some amazing music coming out of here. I'm not familiar enough with our scene to know, just from scrolling through the artists, if the playlist excludes ALL Quebec artists, or just the ones performing in French. But you can't advertise as representing Canada but then exclude such a huge component of it. Is anyone else kinda peeved about this??
