I have a Valve Index and I just moved into a space the has a ceiling fan and is much larger. I have looked around at ceiling mounts, but I can't find anything that could avoid the fan and not be ugly.
I am trying to find something to mount to my wall that can reel in the excess cable after playing, similar to an extension cord reel. I can't find anything that would allow the cable to remain plugged in while reeling in. Does anyone know of a good solution for non-ceiling cable management? Or, is there a way to disconnect the cable from the Index easily for easier cleanup?
Has anyone made their own reel for teach pendant cables? Would love to buy the real ones for my college lab, but it's just not in the budget. Or at least not at the top of the priority list. Either way, I'd love to see what some of you have come up with for DIY solutions.
There seems to be a huge disparity in price between the reels for extension cords at the local hardware store and those designed for AV cables sold online. I’m trying to build up equipment for multicam livestreams from a high school football stadium and that requires several hundred feet of cables. I just want to make sure if I grab a couple of reels from Home Depot that they aren’t going to damage my expensive SDI/XLR cables. Does anyone have any recommendations for some inexpensive alternatives if those won’t work?
I keep this 25ft cat6 cable in my backpack for work. Any time I have to use it makes me angry because it's such a pain to wind back up nicely. This print will add years to my life.

Not sure where else to look or how to call it, if it even exists:
Ideally I’d be able to spool 5 meters / 15 feet of network cable inside it, and would be able to wall mount it so it would be easy to pull the cable out and retract itself back in like a tape measure.
Google and amazon only show me reels for power cord extensions that are way too big/expensive (15meters / 50 feet for 50 euros) for what I’d need, or way too small ones for USB cables and the like.
Bonus points if available inside EU.

So as you know, We’ve has some time on our hands and got around to building a goat barn for some sweet little Nigerian Dwarf goats and I’m looking for a couple good sized empty cable reels for the goats to lay on-anyone know where I can snag a couple? So I'm 40% through building a long distance miner carrier/super freighter, was thinking of how I'd get cargo planet side if need be and thought with the hinge blocks is it possible to make a flexible tube of them on a rotating drum long enough to reach a planet base from orbit like an inverted space elevator seeing as we don't need to worry about plate spin, would need to put a drone on the end of this tube to get it to the destination, what do you guys think? Plus does anyone know how long it would need to be,?
