I'm pretty new to Civ 6 and not sure if there's something I'm not doing right here or if there's a bug.
In the linked screenshot the only unit that is healing is the knight, neither the musketman nor the courser are getting any bonus healing that I can see from Al-Zahrawi. I'd had the musketman attacking Kostromskaya for several turns but no health was restored so I then tried pulling back into my own territory but it's still not healing.
Am I just missing a trick here or has something gone wrong?

To me is equivalent to a great general and makes it really easy to snow ball since I don't have to wait as long to heal up and can effectively heal in enemy territory.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Does it bother anyone else how little science is valued in the modern Islamic world and how far it has fallen since the Islamic golden age?
I was sent to madrassa has a child and studied there for about 5 years. On my off days I was at home reading books on astronomy and other sciences that I loved. It was my favorite pastime. I used to wonder, If religion had answers to the โbig questionsโ surely the Imams and religious teachers were knowledgable on the sciences as well? Since they should compliment each other? but boy was I wrong. They were as scientifically literate as a rock. Iโve come to learn that scientific literacyโ the literal study of the natural world, isnโt a prerequisite to be a religious leader who often talks about the natural world. As Iโve grown older Iโve learned that being scientifically illiterate is extremely common in my community.
Iโve read the statistics somewhere that Spain alone, a relatively small country, produces more science publication than the entire Islamic world by itself. Despite having 1.8 BILLION adherents in the world, Muslims consist of 0.8% of Nobel peace prize winners of science in the world. Thatโs just ridiculous and a testament to where Muslims are today in the intellectual sphere.
This is a group for progressive islam right? What many seem to not realize is that the root of the underlying issues is that anti intellectualism is high within our community. If itโs addressed and we had more scientifically literate people, extremism, fundamentalism, sexism and most other โismsโ would naturally decrease.
Take a look at Islam during the Golden age. There was a lot of emphasis on acquiring knowledge and education. Philosophy and mathematics were taught alongside religion so people werenโt just taught what to think, but also how to think, a stark difference from how many religious institutes operate today where itโs just a passing on of information without question.

The biggest problem with warrior monks is getting them quickly enough to matter. A second problem is getting them promoted quickly enough to keep them relevant. A third problem is mobility and general boosts to combat strength, so I will also look at Civs which will help. Since the latest updates, the AI will not choose Warrior Monks until the third religion, so it's a bit easier to get to this belief. This guide will look at each issue in order.
I. Getting Warrior Monks quickly enough to matter
Theology unlocks temples, which you need to make warrior monks. Beeline theology, including getting every boost.
- Scout -> Monument -> Builder -> Stonehenge. Buy a slinger when necessary. The monument helps with your first culture tech.
- Get a builder for Craftsmanship (Improve Three Tiles.)
- Get a scout for the boosts to Astrology (Find a Natural Wonder) and Foreign Trade (Find a Second Continent,) not to mention Political Philosophy (Find Three City-States.)
- Use God-King for an early Pantheon, if necessary, which boosts Mysticism (Found a Pantheon) and is necessary to found a religion, anyway. Religious City-State envoys and tribal hut relics can obviate this requirement.
- Rush Stonehenge to boost Drama and Poetry (Build a Wonder) and Theology (Found a Religion). This will not only guarantee an early religion, but it will guarantee additional cultural generation through the World Church belief. Crusade is great with Warrior Monks---but you donโt need to rush for Crusade! AI civs donโt tend to choose Crusade until they start filling out their other beliefs, which you can forestall by building the Mahabodhi Temple.
II. Getting promotions to keep them relevant
- I donโt mind using the City-State picker to guarantee that I have Kabul in the game, which will give extra experience to all attacking units. While Iโm at it, I also make sure I have all the Religious City States in the game, Valletta, plus all the Industrial City States. Scientific City States can be good, largely for declaring war on them and then taking their campuses instead of having to build them! I like having Industrial City States because having even one envoy in them will help your capital build wonders. This brings me to:
