A list of puns related to "Yearlong"
I moved to a new apartment in downtown Toronto last November to take advantage of the Covid price decrease. Rent is ~$2000/month. Now my landlord wants to increase the rent to ~$2500/month for this year because that is current market price.
The apartment is rent controlled so I told him its against the Toronto tenancy guidelines to hike the price $500 with no advance notice. The actual amount it can be increased is 1.2%, and that only after the rent freeze ends in January. And I will require 90 days written notice, as per the guidelines.
I shared my story with friends and they had similar stories of landlords trying to hike rent after βspecial covid discountβ prices. I find the number of landlords who are either unaware or breaking the tenancy guidelines deeply troubling.
Salutations, readers.
At the beginning of the year (01/02/2021) I launched the first session of Miracle's first full-scale beta test. The campaign would be nicknamed Make A Wish, for its focus on the pursuit of a MacGufffin that grants wishes. Just tonight on 12/08/2021 we finished our final session on a good ending. Our heroes had saved the world, got everything they needed, and vowed they'd see each other again.
Please allow me to tell you everything that happened in between.
To begin, Miracle is a science-fantasy that takes place in the pre-utopian world of Volmirus. I stress pre-utopian in that while the world is quite lovely, it is threatened by a cancer from within its bowels that threatens to turn it into a dystopia. As a science fantasy, it contains elements of science-fiction and high fantasy, and as a classless system, there's plenty of room to mix-and-match your abilities and make a fun, unique character.
At this point, I can say the book is finished.
The main quest itself drew heavily upon SquareSoft's PSX classic, Threads of Fate/Dewprism. Just like in the game, our heroes will follow a trail of archeological breadcrumbs on a trip through ancient history on their quest to reach an ancient magical superweapon before the bad guy does. If they win, they win everything - and if they lose, the lose everything.
However, this was also a campaign about heroism and what it means to take on the role. Perhaps unconsciously, I decided that heroes are those who protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Here are the heroes...
We arenβt married. Have been dating about 1.5 years. He encouraged me to apply, and said he would support me if I got the job. As the decision became βrealβ after I got the offer, he said he would support whatever I decided, and didnβt want to influence me one way or another.
It forced us to reckon with how much we mean to each other. He canβt come with me; he has a good permanent job in place. Iβve stayed near him for a couple years with a stagnant career so I could be in the same place. This is a good opportunity that will help my future stability, but itβs so goddamn far away.
Itβs for a full year, and I feel terrible. Am I going to mess up this relationship? Iβm tired of waiting for my career to improve, but is this too risky?
And I ain't mad about it.
Been playing 2k games since 1999 on the sega dreamcast when I just a young buck. This is the game I've dreamed of playing all my life. I payed 120$ (including VC purchases) and I feel like it was money well spent.
Thank you 2k for this masterpiece.
Beyond willpower what specific steps or techniques did you employ?
Position: I was pretty decent, but stopped playing in the middle of season 2. Now I've picked it up again and everyone is a million times better. I'm assuming that's from hundreds of hours of practice. I don't game much so I don't have 30 hours a week to sink into this. Is there any reason for me to keep playing lol
2L here! I may need to do this. Problem is Iβm not entirely sure what market yet.
Hi everyone. I have an opportunity to apply to a yearlong part-time internship at an accelerator doing due diligence and ops. I know the answers to these questions are likely firm-specific, but I have a few questions that I'd like general answers to:
The posting for the internship lists a weekly time commitment of 5-10 hours. How realistic is this? I've seen similar postings advertise a time commitment of 15-20 hours per week, so I was wondering if the 5-10 hour commitment is the absolute bare minimum where the "recommended" time commitment is actually higher.
I am a current graduate student and am looking for an internship in the summer. Does anyone know how year-long internships work when we may have other job responsibilities?
The internship is unpaid (like most VC/accelerator internships I've found). Are unpaid internships recommended in the VC world? I know they're frowned upon in many other fields.
How does the internship end? For undergrad (and some graduate internships) internships, the end goal may be to get a return offer at the company and work there full time after graduation. Are full-time offers ever presented at the conclusion of VC internships? I would assume not, but it seems weird to me that you would otherwise just wrap things up and move on after the end of the internship.
Lastly, if anyone's completed a similar internship I'd love to know your general experience and if you found the time commitment worthwhile.
Thanks!
If you didn't know, Ben (dinosaur, not shark) had a really rough year and took a break from making content. However, he just tweeted that he got a new computer and is going to get back into the swing of making YouTube content starting on Monday. I just wanted to spread the word so people can keep an eye out for his content again.
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 62%. (I'm a bot)
> NEW DELHI - Tens of thousands of jubilant Indian farmers on Saturday cleared protest sites on the capital's outskirts and began returning home, marking an end to their year-long demonstrations against agricultural reforms that were repealed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government in a rare retreat.
> "Farmers have saved the democracy. It was a fight for justice," said farmer Nagendra Singh.
> The farmers did not immediately vacate the protest sites and said they would continue to demonstrate until the government agreed to other demands, including guaranteed prices for key crops and the withdrawal of criminal cases against protesters.
> "Modi apologized to farmers but only after resorting to dictatorship. We were called terrorists. He bowed to protests because of the upcoming elections," said Jaigran, another farmer who uses just one name.
> The protests drew international support and were the biggest challenge Modi's government faced since coming to power in 2014.They were largely peaceful but violence erupted on Jan. 26 when thousands of farmers briefly took over New Delhi's historic Red Fort in a deeply symbolic move.
> Farmers' leaders say more than 500 protesters have died due to suicide, cold weather and COVID-19 since November last year and they insist the government should pay 500,000 rupees in compensation per family.
