A list of puns related to "Winter Wren"
[WTB] Feathered Friends Winter Wren Sleeping Bag - Long
There's this little wren that has visited our bird feeder since the beginning of summer. All I know is that he has some sort of handicap that makes it difficult for him to fly, and whenever he lands he always lands on his side/back and struggles to flip himself up. He pretty much stays in our yard the entire day (sitting on the ground, the bird feeder, the bird bath, etc).
We had a really bad rain storm a few nights ago, and the poor thing couldn't even fly up into a tree to stay dry. He huddled at the bottom of the tree until finally taking shelter under the neighbor's car.
Is there any sort of shelter I could offer him for the winter? I thought of putting up a bird house, but I don't know if other birds would claim it instead. I don't want the poor little guy to freeze!
Any advice, bird experts?
Update - 09/28/2021:
So... there's been no sign of the wren since I first made this post. I'm hoping that means he managed to find a place to hunker down for the coming cold season. I'm planning to set up a roosting box in one of our trees, in case the wren does show up again, or if any other birds need shelter for the winter. I'm also keeping in mind the plan to contact a wildlife rehabber, but I'm holding off on that until I see if the disabled bird shows up again. Thanks to everyone for the helpful suggestions!
Went out for my last birding hike(In Southern Ontario) and saw a couple lifers! I almost didnt go down the trail that led me to the Winter Wrens, and almost walked by them after hearing the chattering, but then I heard the song, Wow!
So I stayed for another 20 minutes trying to capture a photo. This guy stood still finally and let me get a few shots!
I also saw a Northern Shrike! To be fair, I saw him yesterday but couldnβt get a shot, today was a little better, but based on location, I feel like its the same guy.
Oh and after the Winter Wrens, I came across what appeared to be 2 groups of Cedar Waxwings, maybe 12 total but they were hard to spot!

Saw this in downtown Chicago, might be a wren? A house wren? A winter wren? Sorry for the low res images!
