A list of puns related to "Video Switcher"
https://youtu.be/v3Qumc8U6AY?t=60
Title says it's all. Anyone know if it exists? I've got a couple of RCA 4-in 1-out composite/s video switchers that I suppose I could daisy chain, but I'd rather get 1 switcher to handle it all. I only need 1 output.
To start off, I know I'm asking to have my cake and eat it too, completely aware of that.
I finally have my backyard movie night at a good spot and I'm looking to polish it a little bit more. Some background: I bought a used projector from a university surplus auction, I got a new lamp for it and cleaned all the filters. Then I got a Harbor Freight cart and an old PA system from a Guitar Center. All said I'm probably in about $300-$400. The system works, well and there are no complaints from the watchers.
That said, my biggest pain point is switching between my youtube playlist of pre-show and then to VLC for my local video file. Even if I plan ahead there's some transition time while I'm alt-tabbing and then playing the next video, but I usually forget something and have to drag windows around.
What I would love is to set up one HDMI source as a monitor from my laptop for Youtube and another HDMI as a second monitor for the local file. Then I would use a video switcher to fade between the two (and maybe a 3rd with some sort of idle animation?).
But here's the real kicker, I can't justify spending more than about $100 for something only I will notice. I would love something like this, but the price tag is giving me heartburn. My next thought was just to use a little tiny switcher like this and maybe it's worth the $10 to just try it out. Am I just asking for too much?
Edit:
Thank you to everyone for all of your insight, I failed to mention a complicating factor that I'm using a chromebook with very limited local storage. For posterity my plan is:
Download youtube playlist addon for VLC, this will let me create a Youtube playlist right up until the event and not worry about downloading videos. After a lot of trial and error I found this parser that works for me. Follow instructions found here to install. I'm on ChromeOS so I had to create the directory for the extension (make sure you have "Show Hidden Files and Folders" turned on).
Build playlist (Media -> Open Network Stream), paste playlist URL, add local files
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi guys, recently i started to notice that hybrid mode in settings stopped working correctly, I disconnect laptop from power supply and discrete graphic continue to work and draw a lot of energy, I need to go to push button stop all processes and go into no discreet card mod manually.
Have anyone had such a problem?
I come to you in a great need of help. I have 7 consoles and want to hook each of them up to a single s-video port on the back of my CRT while my NES uses my AV port on the front of it. Any suggestions?
Iβm organizing an event and want to do an overhead shot of a cooking demo and project it live onto a big screen weβll have. Iβm thinking I can connect a GoPro to a table clamp mounted tripod and put the GoPro above pointing down.
I just need an HDMI live feed (at 1080p) and want to spend as little as possible and donβt want to research GoPros for the next 2 days. Can someone help me out and make a recommendation?
Every time I'm watching a video on fullscreen and Alt+Tab to another window, a duplicate instance of Opera gets created only in the task switcher list. This obviously affects Alt+Tabbing cos I end up not actually switching to another app and staying on Opera only. When I do stop streaming, certain window artifacts remain that can't be selected or closed, which is very annoying. I've created a ticket in their bug tracking system. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Hi all,
I'm a pro-av engineer and I'm considering doing something a little different but wanted to get feedback here.
A client's current system has a traditional Panasonic video mixer with a few camera and PP inputs. They aren't doing anything crazy. Currently, the output drives only two projectors but it's the same signal. There's also a stage display NDI output currently, and a couple NDI outputs with alpha for pickup by a TriCaster via NDI.
If I were to build a capable system and outfit with input cards as necessary and utilize NDI (which already exists in the system), can I get by without having a video mixer?
With the power of NDI screens, looks, etc... I am imagining that all of this could be driven just right from PP7, with no need for a mixer/router for any display.
Some of the displays currently have NDI decoders (BirdDog) attached to them but we could add some for the projectors.
With PP7 video inputs, can the software do any transitions with them? Or is it limited to just putting a video input layer somewhere?
Thoughts?
Am I being banned or something? I was in a long comment argument chain all day I wonder if they're banning me or something?
Itβs very annoying. Why did Reddit change the format of viewing videos.
Does anyone know of a good ~11", preferably sloped, project enclosure? I'm looking for something to be the basis of a completely custom MIDI OBS Studio control surface, since I can't find exactly what I want in a reasonable price range.
I've found an old Archer box on eBay that's my current best candidate, but it's metal and might be a bit difficult to work with and is a little deeper front to back than I was planning on. Open to any suggestions!
Basically, I was thinking about centrally locating video / computing power, then running HDMI to various displays. ps5, PC, rpi, etc... rack-mounted, then able to be switched on in any and every room.

I guess my biggest concern will be: can I get 4K UHD 60Hz over a 25ft cable?
We are about to take our services live stream to the next level. Iβve been using a single PTZOptics camera and a generic HDMI to USB capture device plugged into a Mac mini for our live stream. Our leadership has requested we expand to 2 or 3 video sources. I tried to run multiple sources into the Mac Mini and display them on the same scene in OBS, but the Mac struggled to keep up. Iβve been considering an ATEM Mini Pro to switch between the video sources. But I want to keep an open mind and explore other options, including replacing the Mac mini with a PC a handle all the video sources in OBS directly.
Any and all suggestions and recommendations are appreciate.
Hello! I have a PVM, an Extron Crosspoint, an N64 and I want to use S-video with them but the Extron switcher kinda throws a wrench in my setup and frankly I'm a bit confused by the whole thing...
Here's what I've got planned so far. Would this setup work?
N64 β S-Video Cable β Female S-Video to Male BNC breakout cable β Extron In
Extron Out β Female S-Video to Male BNC breakout cable β 6ft Male to Male S-Video cable β PVM
My options are pretty limited for a Female S-Video to Male BNC breakout cable. The only one I could find is this one
Am I in the right direction to get this thing working or is there a simpler method for doing this?
Thank you for reading!
I've asked this community before about NVX programming recommendations and the response was very helpful. So much that our company was hired to do a bigger NVX videowall with 16 displays. This time the client wants different videowall combinations where sometimes it will only be a selection of 4 or 6 decoders/displays to be used as the wall.
So I'm taking the "Screen # Source Selection" signals and working my logic to route the appropriate input the user selected. Now when it comes to the feedback for the Switcher object is where things get confusing... Out of the small visually framed selection of videowall displays in the touch panel, I want to feed that input for all of them but I can't seem to come up with a good solution for a symbol that would work as an "Analog OR".Let me explain further, let's say out of the 16 displays, one of the video configurations will be a 2x2 videowall in one corner and all the other displays to work individually (own content/stream, no videowall); when the user drags one of the inputs to either 1 of those 4 squares representing the small VW, that input will be fed to all 4 decoders but I also want to provide visual representation for the "Video Switcher" analog inputs "Screen # Source Selection" of the last input dragged to any of those 4 displays in the object. That way the user knows that same input/source was sent to the full 2x2 VW.
I know I could feed them directly from an ABUF but I'm lost with the LIFO (last in first out) logic to represent this. I must specify that this object has the "Local Drop Mode" option disabled in VTPro.
Any suggestions?
My church wants to reduce our system's video latency, the delay is close to a full second. I'm guessing that the video switcher is likely the culprit, since the rest of our gear is fairly modern (the MCS-8M is about 10 years old).
We use Lumens VC-A50P PTZ cameras and send the signal to the Sony MCS-8M switcher via SDI. The output is an LCD video wall, but I don't recall which brand.
I'm a complete novice, so could anyone confirm whether the Sony MCS-8M is the main source of delay? Also, if we should we buy a new video switcher, what would be good alternatives? From my own research, I was considering the ATEM TV Studio Pro HD.
I checked the video switcher's manual (first or third PDF, page 43), but I couldn't find any information on the product's latency.
Her is the one I will use
