A list of puns related to "Upsell"
I went to the dentist for the first time in some time a few months ago and I was taken aback by all the procedures and options they try to force on you. They are very quick to book you in, let you make hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of decisions on the spot, etc. They sent constant texts to me too, saying it's time for my next appointment and whatnot, like I just saw you a month ago... It makes me think that if it wasn't for-profit and instead covered by the government it wouldn't be this way...
I'll keep the question quick:
I've been investing into the same RRSP/RESPs with TD Bank for years. Each one has a couple of TD Mutual funds that are in the "balanced growth" category. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Now for ages I've been getting and ignoring emails after every purchase about "please come meet our advisors to reasses your comfort levels with risk, etc". I had to do this once years ago so they would have a profile of my investing tolerance and goals.
Well now they have BLOCKED my contributions until I meet with an advisor. I called to setup an appointment and it really sounds like they want to see me on more financial services. I already have Life Insurance through TD.
So - is this just a common way to sell me on more services or is there actually some benefit to me? I don't want to walk into the branch with a chip on my shoulder, but being blocked from purchasing more of the same mutual funds I've been buying for years rubbed me the wrong way.
Ps. Thanks for all the awesome advice in this sub!
We are taking my 11 week puppy to Banefield (found inside Petsmarts) for his vaccines but plan to find a local vet for him soon. Yesterday my partner and I took him to get his 3rd round of vaccines.
It was completely chaotic situation as Iβm sure they were understaffed and there were tons of dogs and people in the banefield vet area. My puppy was obviously super excited and trying to say hi to everyone. After the vaccinations were done, The vet brought out our pup and pulled us aside to chat. So this didnβt take place in an exam room, it was just out in the open with everyone else waiting for their appointment.
She Started asking all the obvious questions about his diet and water intake, exercise and energy levels and any concerns we may have. I gave her a brief overview that everything was going great.
She started to play with her hair, make chit-chat and telling us stories of other dogs. Meanwhile between holding my puppy, then putting him down because he was getting antsy, heβs tangling himself in my legs, trying to go sniff all the dogs and people, my BF has his hands full with other food and supplies. Iβm starting to lose my patience with her. I said βwell I think weβre all good and the pup is getting a little burnt out so if you donβt have anything else weβre good to goβ and she goes βyeah well I would really think about putting him in our dog training classes here, I can already tell heβs going to be a stubborn dogβ. I brushed it off but she said it again a minute later.
I snapped back, βheβs an 11 week old puppy, and weβre on track with our training. He does fine with us at home, but thanksβ. Then she goes on to insinuate once again, she thinks he will be a stubborn dog. Trying to keep my composure, βagainβ¦.heβs a puppy, are we done here? β then it took us another 20 minutes to pay and get the hell out of there.
I get that corporations like Petsmart sometimes make their employees upsell products or classes/trainings but I thought it was way out of line to tell me that my puppy was going to be a difficult/stubborn dog. You canβt tell at 11 weeks anyway. A lot can happen in 6 months. She said he didnβt let her get in to see his mouth without being fussy-like bro, you should know better than anyone that puppies wanna play and chew everything. And youβre sticking your fingers in his mouth. Other than his biting, heβs generally a smart and well behaved puppy.
Also I have nothing against training classes and will probably get him enrolled, not
... keep reading on reddit β‘Iβm looking for a new dentist in Fairfax County, preferably around Reston, Chantilly, or Centreville. Like the title states, Iβm tired of being sold services and products. Iβm a simple guy looking to get my teeth cleaned regularly. That is all.
Im new to the area and need help finding a dentist that isnt upselling services just to make more money. Some dentist will find cavities where none exist just so they can charge more for the fillings. Some will grind teeth to nubs so they can upsell for a crown. Im looking to avoid this. Im not afraid of Dentist, but I need to find one in RVA that puts patients over profits.
so, i got an email a few weeks back that said i could upgrade to first class for 76 bucks. i posted yesterday how it was gonna be well over a grand to do so after calling support since it wouldnt go through.
today i noticed the same feature said 49 instead of 76 so i'll try again... and still, it just doesn't work. is this feature supposed to not work or something? why even offer it in your app or website if you can't redeem it?
I'm looking to sell about 10 different Excel docs. For each Excel doc, I'd also like to offer an upsell. Customers can buy multiple Excel docs, so I'd like them to be offered a UNIQUE upsell for each one as they add it to their cart, and probably one last popup before they confirm the order asking if they'd like the upsell.
So for example, a customer would click "Add to Cart" on Excel doc #1, and upsell #1 would be offered for it. Then they'll click "Add to Cart" for say, Excel doc #4, and upsell #4 would be offered for it. Etc etc.
I was originally on Gumroad, but they don't offer upsells. Can I do this in Shopify? And if so, how?
Thanks!
Hello!
I had an amazing experience meeting with a psychic in person for the first time today. He knew so many details about my life before I told him and he offered some really helpful advice based on what he knew and questions I had for him.
About 40 minutes into the reading, he said that he felt I really needed to see him on a weekly basis to have my chakras cleansed and he would send energy to me during the week, and give me meditations to practice between our weekly one-hour cleansing sessions. He thought it was very important for me to do these cleansing sessions over the next couple of months because of all the toxic energy Iβve had around me from my emotionally abusive husband.
It would be 8 one-hour cleansing sessions over the next 2 months for $2000. This is a lot of money for me, but I really would like to live my best life and be healed of my husbands toxic energy. Is this worth it? Is he overcharging me? Iβm planning to move out in 2 months, wouldnβt it be better to wait to do this cleansing until Iβm out of here, away from the daily toxic poison in this house?
Thanks so much for any advice you have, I appreciate it.
I was fiddling with my keyboard and using Gamakay software to change the lighting when kaspersky popped up on the corner saying it was trying to access my webcam. My webcam's normally covered when I'm not using it so it's not an immediate worry but when I clicked 'How it works', it just gave me 3 slides of "things can be bad", "but we're here so it's good", and "so upgrade now!"
So yeah, is my keyboard software trying to view my webcam or is kaspersky trying to upsell me their paid product?

Hey all, Iβve found that one thing business owners desperately need (but absolutely despise) is business process optimization.
They donβt know what employees are doing, or they know something needs improvementβ¦ but donβt have the bandwidth to do it.
Iβve built a team who is extremely proficient in:
Iβm a fractional COO, and after working with many clients, Iβve found this is one of the most important pieces for making a business run tight (reliant on processes and not people).
Itβs also the part I enjoy the most.
My question β would anyone see value in having a team behind you who can fulfill this piece, perhaps as an upsell, and make money on us as a partner?
Really appreciate your feedback :)
In High School I worked at Gamestop in nowheresville Tennessee. Back then they had a discount card that saved 15% on used items, and gave trade in value as well. We were supposed to sell these things in 5% of our sales, but we crushed it at 15-25% a month, and our store always got accolades for it.
But one day we get told that a secret shopper came by, and we were selling the combo wrong. We highlighted the discount card heavily, as it basically paid for itself after 1-3 visits, and the magazine was the cherry on top. But corporate wanted us to sell it as a magazine subscription, that also came with a discount card.
So about 2 weeks in and my upsell numbers are at around 10%, I decide to get malicious. The instructions given were that we have to sell the subscription first. So from then on, I blitzed through the magazine part and focused heavily on the discount card. It went something like "SoTheresThisMagazineSubscriptionYouCanGet, and it comes with this discount card yada yada yada..." My manager saw what I was doing but he didn't care for corporate policy, he was cool with it since he could say "we are saying "magazine" first".
When did this start? Last night we were approached in line about upgrading to an executive membership, multiple times. We said no thanks to one associate before we reached the cashier. As soon as we hand over our member card to be scanned, cashier yells βUpsell on 10β and then 3 more different employees rush over and urge us to upgrade to an executive membership. Just another annoying change that cheapens the Costco brand in my opinion.
Edit: I guess Iβm glad it isnβt just my warehouse pushing the membership upgrades. And to clarify, my card was not scanned before being approached in line and asked to see my card. And again, the cashier shouted out about the upsell before scanning my card, so it definitely wasnβt the register/system flagging me as a good candidate. They were seeking out white cards. Thanks all for sharing your frustrations & experiences.
Hi guys,
New at dropshipping. I wanted to ask experienced guys about how to upsell in dropshipping? The upselling item isnt necessarily with the same supplier. It will come in seperate package and have separate tracking and delivery times.
How to cope with this?
Thanks.
Let me explain. My countertop/cabinets provider are charging me $6.5k for the cabinetry (only) in assembled form. So I created an account on their cabinet provider website (Magnolia) and it all actually comes down to $2.75k in cabinetry materials. I even added more cabinets to include my 3 bathrooms to this quote. That's a hefty difference.
I get it they're going to be picking up the cabinets (though not assembling since Magnolia does that for $500). I get it gonna charge me more for their services, for it but is this difference in amount standard?
For context - they initially quoted me $13k for full cabinet, countertops, demo and installation. So I demoed myself, and plan to install myself, which materials only still comes down to $8.5k. That still seems too high for me.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to pop in and let you guys know that HypeCart now can add automated upsells based on Shopifys Recommendation API's.
Got a lot of DMs about this before so just wanted to check in and let everyone know.
A bit more about HypeCart below.
Right now we cover upsells in these three stages of a customers journey on your store (and we're working on more!) 1, In the cart before an order is placed. 2, After the purchase before the order is confirmed. 3, On the thank you page once the order is confirmed.
A customers checkout experience starts with adding an item to their cart. Our Cart Drawer will display the items in a minimal and thoughtful way combined with any upsells, cross sells or progress bars you've created. You can customise these offers however you want with a lot of triggers! And after the sale is done, you can keep selling with HypeCart! You can also add free gifts automatically to the customers cart based on threshold of your choice.
The Post Purchase Upsell feature in HypeCart works with just one click and is proven to convert really well! It adds an extra page between the checkout and the thank you page where you can offer a product to your customer. This add-on product will be added to the same order with only one click, and is very seamless for the customer. It's truly a win win!
The thank you page is one of the most underrated spaces for promotions. Once a customer reaches the thank you page it means they've decided to make a purchase and trust your brand - there really is no better place to show some great upsells and cross sells. The thank you page will turn into an order confirmation page that Shopify emails to customers by default for example with shipping updates. Your widgets will still be there every time your customer visits the page. You can customize your own thank you page with HypeCart's drag and drop builder, it's both easy and effective!
With a fixed pricing structure HypeCart delivers a great ROI to merchants and we're constantly seeing ROI's of thousands of percent. Yes, those are real numbers!
If you need any help at all with setup or have more questions, let us know at hello@hypecart.co or say hello through the app.
Oh, we also offer a 7 day free trial for all plans!
You can find the app here: App Store Try it for yourself here: Demo Store

Their upselling strategy is relentless and annoying. Honestly, it make me want to leave. Anything I can do to stop a sales person from calling me every fucking week?
Hey all! I'm trying to help my girlfriend, and establish if the services rendered were reasonable, or an unnecessary upsell.
She took her 2019 Hyundai Tucson SE AWD, ~53,500 miles, in for an oil change and state inspection. The car was purchased Hyundai Certified Used a year a go. and we've put about 5,000 miles on it.
The dealership asked her if she wanted the "Silver Service", which she assumed was the manufacturer's recommended scheduled maintenance. However it looks like it's the dealership's own unrelated service package.
A few things stand out to me:
It's so tough to know if the work is necessary, we could use a second opinion!
Below is the invoice from the dealership
My wife just had a bunionectomy, and the surgeon is pushing for her to follow up with a few weeks of MLS Laser therapy, paid out-of-pocket, through his practice. I've attempted to research it, but most of the articles I've found are marketing materials from offices offering the same service, and unsurprisingly, none cite actual medical studies. Same goes for the informational flier in the office.
I'm highly skeptical of it as it seems like a high-tech new age snake oil from what I can find. If it does actually help, as proven by clinical studies, I am more than happy to support the decision to move forward with the treatment. Any scholarly articles or advice would be greatly appreciated!
For a long time I am a still reader of this sub, I started dropshipping about two years ago and it always bothered me that people saw that the products are coming from China. That often resulted in disputes and chargebacks, even before the products arrived. To solve this issue I created my own tracking solution that uses the API feeds of the shipping carriers, but filters out the locations and countries.
This way the buyers still gets accurate information about the delivery status, but they won't start to become paranoid because you are shipping from another country. It reduced my disputes and chargebacks by about 80%, since I am also providing my support email next to the parcel tracking they can easily reach out to me if they have any concerns.
Even if you work with local sellers my tool offers you a HUGE advantage. It displays related products on the order tracking page to upsell customers when they visit it, to check their delivery status. Since many people are impatient and check the tracking pages very often, you get a lot of free traffic you can use to try to convert them again. Of course you can also implement your facbook pixel, or any other retargeting pixel on the page. And the best thing is, you can select your custom branding and style for the tracking page, to make it a part of your shop. You need to remember, you paid a lot in PPC ads to convert them the first time, so not using any chance you get to convert them another time for free is simply wasted money.
Here you can test it 1 week free: Parcelfeed.com
Good afternoon everyone!
I wanted to make a guide on what I have used to help me close more upselling addons to most of my jobs. It seems simple but I find that the correct set up and execution makes a difference in the end with the closing rates of customer taking the bump of extra projects. Now obviously I'm far from perfect and this is just what has worked for me.
I made a quick 4min vid that explains it better but I will also try to sum it up below what I went over. Feel free to ask any questions I am always here to help.
3 key things that I think make or break an upsell.
Do on the jobsite
Build valve & confidence in yourself during walk around with product knowledge
Give package deal for getting it done that day
Many might overlook the power of an upsell but an extra $200 a job over the month can add up to thousands extra. Hope this helped and look forward to hearing your techniques as well.
