Currently watching Parasyte. Great show, but I wish Izumi would shut the fuck up and listen to Migi more often. Migi has quickly become one of my all-time favorite anime characters.
I am tired of protagonists who go on about how they refuse to take a life because it's wrong and bad blah blah, and then the person they spare causes problems for them later on. This has pissed me off since I first started watching TV shows at all.
This is why Death Note was so refreshing for me. The moment someone posed a threat to Light, he would immediately begin plotting how to dispose of them.
That's the kind of show I'd like to watch. No whining, no sappy sentimentality, no self-destructive moralizing. Just the unflinching use of whatever strategy happens to be appropriate.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!

So this is something that has been on the back of my mind ever since this went viral in twitter (cw: violent stuff, no blood but it’s frustrating to watch) and the way people in the thread responded with “oh this is normal for an all boys school” “ah of course mrsm” and many more and it got me thinking… wow. This is their first reaction to someone getting bullied?
Both my siblings are currently studying in different same-sex boarding schools and those graduated from these kind of schools (boarding), i’m sure we know how important seniority is and sometimes these seniors abuse their power for the wrong reasons and whenever my siblings told me about their experience it’s always felt like they were getting bullied. My sister was miserable the first few weeks she came there because of what they made her do and the way they treated them like slaves. It got me thinking how normalised bullying is in under the guise of “respecting your senior”. Reporting to teachers makes matter worse because 1)the seniors won’t stop harrassing you afterwards or 2)you’ll be alienated by your batchmates because one person reports: the whole batch receives that treatment or 3) the teachers are simple powerless/don’t care.
I’m sure this isn’t just limited to boarding school as I’ve seen some bullying back when i was still in a daily school. I was lucky the next boarding school i moved in was when i was in form 4 and my batchmates (girls at least) were super chill and never seemed to abuse their seniority.
This also got me thinking that ghe people who were so obsessed with seniority bac then were probably the same person who would throw a karen if they weren’t addressed as “professor” or “doctor” in their workplace (out of mistake)
Redditors of malaysia, have you had these experiences before? What do you think about bullying issues in schools? Do you think the seniority complex in boarding schools will ever fade or change for the better??
Edit: i feel like this discussion shouldn’t just be limited to school bullying but also workplace and so on. Please feel free to share what do you think about malaysian bullying in general.
