TLDR: Set myself some goals for freestyle swimming and seems like my flutter kick is my weak side. In contrast I am relatively much efficient at kicks where I draw my legs and push the water like egg beater/breaststroke and trudgen. I am seeking advice and tips. I am writing this one to seek help and advice on my kicking since I observe dramatic difference with effectiveness of my kicking. I have known this difference since I was a kid but thanks to fitness tracker technology and availability of online information, I would like to beat my curiosity and learn more. This is also kind of continuation of my reply to /u/jjdog123 ‘s comment. I have grown up by Mediterranean and also trained in a swimming club during elementary school years (now mid-30s). I am not a bad swimmer overall but always lacked endurance (mostly due to lack of disciplines training but also probably due to my poor flutter kick) and kept me demotivated to improve my stroke for more pursuing more competitive swimming. I have known that I never got desired levels of propulsion from my flutter kick. Today I made several kickboard tests at 25 yards and my best time was 41 secs. When I do the same tests with egg beater kick or breast stroke kick, I could complete ~25-30 secs. To me the difference is dramatic. Seeing online videos and watching others kick, I know my flutter kick is bad and inefficient. It also kills my endurance in freestyle swimming (but I still use it because this is how all swimmers are trained). I can freestyle sprint same 25 yards at 19 secs. I tried same with egg beater kick and I could get 18 sec. The difference is not big (probably because propulsion is not continuous and not coordinated with arms) but still better than my flutter kick version.
To elaborate more and provide data points:
- I can lift myself up to waistline with egg beater kick in vertical position – I know it is good for water polo.
- My hamstrings and posterior muscles are relatively much stronger as compared to my size and strength of other muscle groups. In contrast my HIP strength and mobility is not as good.
I want to work on improving my flutter kick so I can reach my freestyle goals (initial check point is 200 yards under 3 mins

Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
