A list of puns related to "Thank U, Next"
Hi everyone! I've closed the final round for the survivor and the results are in! Thank you to the 122 participants who sent in their responses for this round as well as everyone who participated in the previous rounds and didn't let this whole thing flop.
Firstly, our tie-breaker for the semi-final round. The song that finishes this survivor in 4th place, with 64 of the 122 votes (52.5%) is >!ghostin!<! This means that, with 58 of the 122 votes (47.5%), our bronze medalist goes to >!bad idea!<!
Now onto the main result that we're all waiting for. Our runner-up, which received 72 of the 122 votes (59%) is... >!needy!<!!!
(fun fact, this song actually had 4/10 rounds where it received the least number of votes, which is the most for any song in this survivor)
This means that the winner of the thank u, next survivor, with 50 of the 122 votes (41%) is...
>!in my head!<!!!
This is honestly such an unexpected, but welcome win. Pure lyrical genius, I am so glad this song is getting the attention it very much deserves. To be honest, I never had any idea on which song was gonna win as the results for each round flip-flopped so much. It really shows how consistent and excellent of an album thank u, next is.
Miss Songeniality: >!fake smile!<, with 29/121 votes (24%).
I completely agree, this song is excellent and deserved to make top 5. I'll never get over y'all picking mid-tier tracks over it.
Miss Overstayed Her Welcome: >!needy!<, with 37/120 votes (30.8%).
Not much to say here, other than I strongly agree. It's good, but top two? Half the album is easily better
Miss Fan-Favourite: >!ghostin!<, with 26/113 votes (23%).
Completely expected, considering it's consistently topped various popheads rates and other games ranking TUN. At the beginning, I really thought this song was gonna win the survivor but y'all know with me sometimes being a >!ghostin!< anti, I'm so glad it did not.
Miss Personal-Favourite: >!in my head!<, with 21/118 votes (17.8%).
Not really surprised that our survivor winner is also many peopleβs personal favourite. Personally Iβd have this song in my top 4, below bloodline, bad idea and imagine.
Finally, I asked you where you would rank thank u, next in Ariana's album discography. Personally, I have it 2nd only to Dangerous Woman. It appears that most of you also have taste, as 50/119 of you said it was her best album and a furt

We had 112 responses across both subreddits (r/popheadssurvivor and r/ariheads) for Round 6. The song being eliminated today, with 20.5% of the total votes, is >!thank u, next!<. Finally, the beast has been slain!
The next round, and the results for this round, will be posted two days from now.
>But Bloodline is a VIBE :( I cannot hear it without hitting replay at least once. even the opening, with Nonna talking about how she can't find a satisfying hearing aid...it's just a great song.
exactly! spitting facts left and right here
>Bloodline is such a bop, I don't understand the hate for it
this sub hates fun enjoyable bops and it's appalling
>I will not tolerate this TUN slander I'm seeing. It's one of the best songs she's ever written and it deserved a Grammy.
π me when i'm the leader of TUN slander gang
>Thank you, next (to TUN). Iβve given up on my mission to kill ghostin since this sub refuses to let it die. Anyways I hope we get rid of TUN because letβs face it even Put Your Hearts Up was a more exciting single π
this is a very very spicy take bestie. agreed with the ghostin part but PYHU seriously?
>Can we kill bad idea please π itβs bottom 2
i know you actually meant top 2
>Wow the amounts of taste are so low, Fake Smile and Bloodline are out but Imagine and In My Head are in
imagine and in my head are equally as excellent as the first two songs you mentioned, this sub is just pure tastelessness

Hello, everyone.
Welcome to the third annual /r/Popheads Album of the Year writeup series, covering some of the most memorable pop releases of 2019 in the words of our own users.
Now, I was not expecting to be here! We had a scheduled author for this writeup, but since they appear to have gone AWOL, I had to very quickly put together a replacement. Yes, we have backups, but I do not expect anyone to have something finished this early and it feels unfair to not cover an album as big as thank u, next. Thankfully, I reached out and found some very amazing users who supplied writeups of each song on the album, and put together we have a pretty solid post if I do say so myself. I hope you all enjoy our emergency writeup of Ariana Grande's hugely successful thank u, next.
Background
I think most of us know who Ariana Grande is, but I'll give a quick recap just incase. She's been in some degree of spotlight for basically her entire life, from making the news for getting hit by hockey pucks at age 5 to appearing on Broadway at age 15. She became a Nickelodeon star a year later, being a regular on two Weird Foot Fetish Guy Who Shall Not Be Named productions, Victorious and Sam & Cat. However, music was Ariana's true passion from a young age, and she began to release her own music as her Nickelodeon career winded down.
Apart from the later-disowned "Put Your Hearts Up", Ariana's career has stuck a pretty even balance of pop and R&B influence, starting with her 2013 debut album Yours Truly. "The Way", a cute, intimate collab with her later boyfriend Mac Miller, became Ariana's first top 10 single, and her star would only continue to rise from there. 2014's My Everything would spawn four top ten singles, and things seemed to be going very well until... well... the donut thing. Being caught on camera saying "I hate America" and licking donuts she didn't buy became a pretty big scandal for a while, one that it took Ariana a while to kick. She would also basically call a mulligan on an entire era, scrapping intended lead single "Focus" and changing the album title from Moonlight to Dangerous Woman. This would be a welcome change, as the album was successful and would include one of her defining songs, the incredible "Into You".
Things get way messier from there, unfortunately. Just after a tour sto

I really don't understand this. The lyrics are so personal, how do these sessions even work? Taylor Swift wrote an entire album by herself, so it's confusing how Ariana always has a bunch of co-writers even for the shortest and seemingly most personal songs.
Just like hiphopheads I am interested to get everybody's first impressions 24 hours later (since the release thread is a tsunami) to what will be one of the biggest pop releases of the year.
Overall I think the album is easily her most cohesive, her first album that is distinctly "Ariana Grande" and found a sound / lane that is all her own. It is a very strong first listen album overall with a lot of tracks with replay-ability.
High Points: NASA, bloodline, bad idea, ghostin & fake smile
Low Points: make up & 7 rings
Easily makes my favorite albums of 2019 list, along with NASA & bad idea making my favorite songs of 2019 list.
Apart from obviously sad songs such as "ghostin'" on this album, does anybody else feel such a deep sadness emitting from Ariana on every single song? Even on songs that are deemed as the more upbeat and energetic like "bloodline" and "bad idea", the subject matter within it is still quite negative and generally quite depressing. Sure bloodline could be taken as just a fun song about not wanting to be connected to somebody emotionally and just wanting a one off, one night-standish situation but within the context of the album there is a very heavy undertone that Ariana is just too emotionally exhausted to connect with somebody on a personal level, which gives the song a layer of sadness to it on top of the care-free vibes it gives off. This is even more present on bad idea, where Ariana acknowledges herself that she is certainly not in the right mindset to be making good decisions and is fully aware that she is making the wrong choices but does it anyway. No matter what song I listen to on the album I always get filled with an intense empathy towards Ariana, as you can tell on every single song that she is extremely emotionally unwell and struggling to cope with how her life is playing out. :(
