Is the surety bond purchased for me by my employer still valid if I perform notary acts outside of my job?

I want to solemnize a marriage for a friend, outside of my work. I work for a credit union who sponsored my notary certification and purchased my surety bond. (State of FL)

Lost Cashier Check, need Surety Bond?

Hi guys, I had ordered a cashier check from Bank of America for $1475. I sent it out on 11/12 and it had got lost in the mail. When I went to my local BoA today, the bank teller had informed me that I would need a surety bond in order to take any other actions on what to do with the existing cashier check. Has anyone been in this situation with BoA? If so, what did you guys do? Where would I get a surety bond from?

Wells Fargo unexpectedly shut down my accounts, and now I can't get my money without paying for an expensive surety bond. How do I pursue this?

I was a WF customer for over 10 years, and I've never owed money, fees, anything (I have a great credit score, the whole deal). A month ago they unexpectedly and without warning shut down my accounts. I went round and round with a zillion people on the phone, none of whom knew anything. I found out they mailed me cashiers checks with the final balances, but they sent them to my old address so I've never seen them.

I met with my local branch's manager, and he spoke to them on the phone (found out it was shut down as "a business decision", which apparently is more common than you'd think), and they told him I could take the money out a week later and without any surety bond for having to stop payment on the original cashiers checks. He asked about the surety bond specifically since they're so expensive. I went back a week later, and the same department he had spoken to now said I did need an expensive surety bond to get my money. I want to get this figured out without paying it first, so I still haven't gotten my money.

I've been assigned multiple "Case Specialists" who are all but impossible to reach and are not actively communicative, so I never know what's happening to my "case", which the local branch manager got rolling and escalated for me. So most of my money is in limbo, and I am not getting communication on how to get it without the surety bond (again, they specifically told the branch manager it wasn't necessary).

Is there a way to pursue this legally? What type of lawyer would I even need?

Location is Virginia, but that shouldn't matter.

Surety bonds in Banks

Hello. I am looking forward to join a bank. But I have to sign a surety bond that won't allow me to quit before 4 years. It's a job with good salary. But I don't like the idea of surety bond. What if I don't I like the working there or better opportunity comes up. What if I don't like to transfered out of my city. I think it's quite like slavery.Don't you think? I know jobs are not easy to find in our country. Why isn't there any labour law that prevents it and how to tackle this problem of I want to join and if someone works in a bank please suggest me how the transfer process works? What if I don't want to move out of my city

Has anyone bought a neglected CB750 without a title and used a surety bond? Thinking of buying a β€˜74 that needs restoration for $100, but I’d need a bonded title for three years and I don’t have a good sense of the cost of that and a restore vs. saving up for one in good condition. Thanks!

Question about surety bonds in Kentucky

Yesterday during my friend’s bond hearing, the judge granted him a surety bond and me as the guarantor. so far I am not able to find very much information other than the absolute basic information about this particular kind of bond. Kentucky doesn’t have bondsmen and most of what I am reading online is mentioning paying a percentage but the judge did not specify that.

I went to the circuit court as soon as it opened at 8:30am to pay his bond filing fee and after sitting for almost an hour waiting, I was told that no bond amount was set so they have to wait to hear back from pretrial. Having a similar experience last night, I wasn’t expecting a quick resolution. An hour later, I was told that there’s no response from the pre-trial division so we now have to wait for the judge to email the clerk back to get clarification about his bond.

I was told to come back and as I’m waiting, I messaged my friend’s attorney who claims I won’t have to make any type of cash payment today which leaves me confused as to what I am really waiting for at this point.

In your relevant experience, how long does this usually take? Also what exactly am I waiting for?

Thanks in advance.

Landlord is now asking for a surety bond of $250. It was not in the lease and my roommate and I would prefer to pay security deposit.

Basically title. They're demanding we pay a surety bond and the lease says "$0.00" on the "security deposit" form, but then has the option checked where they agree to return the security deposit by mail at the end of the lease.

Nothing in the lease mentions "surety," "bond," or "$250" or anything similar to those terms (monthly rent is like $1350). The surety bond was mentioned by email after we had signed the lease.

They said their company policy is not to accept security deposits. Now, granted, I'm in Texas and I believe state law says that there is no maximum security deposit they can chargeβ€”so they COULD just agree and say "$crazyamount"β€”but is there any recourse/fighting grounds for demanding they let us pay the security deposit, instead of the surety bond, given that nothing in the lease we signed mentions the surety bond?

Worst comes to worst we'll probably just pay it because it's not going to be worth trying to find a new place to live on short notice. But yeah, any advice?

Surety Bond Question

Hi, first time posting, and I hope some of you might have some insight/experience that you can share regarding surety bonds.

I run a kitchen and bath design company in FL and my current client is remodeling a kitchen due to water damage. Her insurance has already approved the repair but now that we are under contract with the homeowner, their insurance company is requiring a surety bond. I am licensed and insured as required and so are all my sub contractors. Any advice on how possibly request a waiver for this requirement?

What is a Surety Bond?

A surety bond is a three party contract between the principal, surety company, and obligee. Surety bonds ensure the surety will pay the obligee, up to the full amount of the bond, if the principal fails to comply with the provisions set forth in the bond.

There are many different types of surety bonds, over 11,000 to be exact, but nearly all of them fall into the following seven categories:

  • Business License or Permit Bonds – Required by a government agency for a business to obtain or renew a license or permit
  • Bid, Performance or Payment Bonds – For contractors, usually when bidding on a government project and to ensure that the job is completed.
  • Fidelity Bonds – Also known as employee theft, dishonesty, or janitorial bonds, fidelity bonds protect business owners if their employees steal from customers (or the business).
  • ERISA Bonds – Used to protect retirement plan participants, ERISA bonds are needed for all qualified retirement plans (i.e. 401ks, defined benefit plans, pension plans, etc.)
  • Probate or Court Bonds – Required by a court order for probate matters or lawsuits in civil courts
  • Notary Bonds – For individuals who are applying for a notary license.
  • Financial Guarantee Bonds – Guarantees that a business will make payments for bills or other obligations. Two of the most common are (1) utility deposit bonds for utility companies to guarantee on-time payment of utility bills and (2) union wage and welfare bonds to guarantee that contractors will pay union wages and benefits on union jobs

What is a surety bond?? Deceased grandmother leaves one behind.

Hi all! My husband’s grandmother sadly passed away not too long ago. My mother in law found a letter from Howden dated 2017 regarding a surety bond in the amount Β£80000. My mother in law was named as the deputy whereas the grandmother was named as β€˜person’. Is this a debt that needs to be repaid?? My mother in law is very worried so anyone that can shed any light on this would be really helping us out.

Surety Bond for Teaching Sabbatical?

My wife has been granted a sabbatical from teaching (public elementary school). She must secure a surety bond due to the condition that she must teach in the same district for 2 years after the sabbatical.

I've talked to my insurance company about this and they said no problem! But now after a bit of back and forth they are saying we must prove that we have the liquid collateral to cover the bond amount (~$50k). The equity in our home, nor any of my IRA accounts are ineligible for this and at this point I don't know what else to use.

Is there anything I'm missing or should I try another place to get this bond?

9 years after I faked my own death, I got a packet of enrollment forms addressed to my wife, from Lloyd's of Manhattan Mutual Savings & Bond Surety Loans Indemnity Safeguard Assurance, LLC - saying I had another policy taken out on me, with my wife as the beneficiary!

I had faked my own death, fled to Caymans, avoided taxes, you know the drill. Where it gets interesting - apparently my wife had somehow purchased a 129 million short-term life insurance policy from Lloyd's of Manhattan using my pseudo-identity, that says I'm going to go sky diving multiple days in the next month. I checked my rig in the sporting house next to the cessna, and noticed my reserve chute was stuffed with a banana, and the main chute was cut in half. It was all repacked just like I had left it before. Hmmm. After a bit of critical thinking, I realize that she was planning on me dying very soon - for real this time. It's become so much harder to fool them without a real body, like you could back in the early 2000s - general knowledge among us elites - that without a cold hard body, no cold hard cash. Scrape me up off the ground, cash in. Smart.

I came home and found a large envelope in the mail that was apparently enrollment forms, that she obviously intended to intercept before I got home from the golf course. I cut the round short to 9 holes instead of the usual 27, so she was still out for the day at an appointment with the feng shui consultant. If not I would have never found the envelope, and died on tomorrow's first skydive.

Should I be furious, or proud? Right now I'm completely stunned and of course this brings back memories and thoughts of the past. Not sure if I should strangle her, or have the sexes, or try to work with her to come up with a body that isn't mine and somehow cash in. More money, more problems.

Surety bond for probate - how to find a cheap one?

Can you recommend a good way to find a cost-effective surety bond provider for probate that the court requires when there is no will?

I've heard going local is good, but the prices are not transparent and it seems the choice is between sketchy national websites like surebondsdirect.com, national companies from government lists and local insurance agent name locator tools that are overwhelming in volume, and I don't know how to proceed.
