We're all big on science, facts, and humanity here, right? We all understand that we respect each other as human beings, correct? That's the main law we all recognize.

But WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH CONSERVATIVES?!? KEE-RIST, you just refuse to acknowledge problems that affect the entire human race?!? Race, abortion, bigotry, gay people, women's rights, black lives, EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM, they just deliberately choose to pick the evil thing.

When I say "evil", I don't even care about some ridiculous, invisible "Man in the Sky". We're human beings, we can judge "evil" on, "what's harmful to our kind, our tribe, our humanity!" This isn't some metaphysical Judgement, it's what human beings judge things on, since we crawled out of caves and started practicing agriculture, for the last 10,000 years of recorded human civilization or so!

I'm not even an atheist, really! I am a pagan, mainly for the humanitarian, anti-authoritarian aspects of it! I routinely date other pagans and Satanists. None of them have a problem with basic science! Plus, bonus points, we actually do have the best, most fun holidays (see also, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, blah blah blah! :D)

I'm a pagan, because I believe that maybe consciousness slips this mortal coil, and continues. I have zero evidence for that idea, but it's what I like to believe. Satanists don't believe that, they are strong atheists!

You know what Satanists actively do with their time on this planet? They put up signs and billboards in opposition to churches. They buy books for school children teaching actual science about biology, chemistry, history, and mathematics, about the most likely explanation of how human life came to be!

I know, I've dated one!

Of course, as rational human beings, we can understand that our fellow human beings get frustrated sometimes! This is fine! It's perfectly understandable. We all need to blow off some steam once in a while! We are human beings, we live in a society with each other in cooperation. Everybody gets mad once in a while, anyone that respects their fellow human animals will respect that, give them some space, and maybe another human being to talk to!

I'm Gideon Marcus, a science fiction writer, publisher, space historian, and time traveler.

This is my second AMA, and I had so much fun last time, I wanted to come back, especially since I have so much more to talk about!

Some things it would be fun to chat about:

1. I write The Kitra Saga, a YA space adventure series for all ages. The second book, Sirena came out just a few months ago, and there will ultimately be around ten (though they stand alone pretty well). Folks have liked the series because, in a sea of dystopias and grimdark, the Kitra books are positive and fun, without being twee. I've basically tried to make intelligent, hardish SF accessible to everyone. Plus, they've got cool illustrations! (the illustrator is on hand for questions, too!)

2. I edit the Rediscovery: Science Fiction by Women series. We're coming out with the next volume, covering 1953-57, next month, and it was tremendous fun getting to read (with my team) several hundred science fiction stories by women. We picked 20 of the best stories, invited a bunch of amazing women creators to introduce them, and we're very proud of it. 3. I am a time traveler. I run Galactic Journey, a time machine to exactly 55 years ago, where we write about the science fact and fiction of the time as if we live, day by day, in 1967. From Heinlein to Henderson, Doctor Who to Doctor McCoy, our coverage is comprehensive!

Our coolest new project is watching the original Star Trek "as it comes out" on the original air dates (minus 55 years). And they've got the original commercial breaks in them! It's been fascinating watching this classic in its original form, and with about a dozen young people who have never seen it before. We've also been reading the period trekzines and fanzines of the time, and that's been a trip.

That's the question. What if I wanted to write a love story, a romance novel, but have it set in space instead of on Earth? Could it still fall under the romance genre?

Something like steins gate, and Dr stone , which have solid technical base with some assumptions.

In 2014 ESA's comet mission Rosetta reached it's final destination: the comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. Later that year, in November, the orbiter deployed it's small lander: Philae.

After several hours of descent the lander touched the surface of 67P... however, all the miscellaneous landing systems on-board Philae did not work as intended. This circumstance + the low gravity of the comet lead to a "re-bounce" of the spacecraft. Philae "hopped around" for a few hours before it eventually landed in some dark cavity.

The next couple of hours Philae obtained as many scientific insights as possible. But no sunlight illuminated the spacecraft, leaving the small probe to die. After some time, Philae sent its final messages.

First of all... yeah, it may sound emotional. But since I worked on a lander instrument for over 2 years and since I was sitting in the lander centre that day... waiting for the data, images, etc. I have a personal story to share here (but that would exceed the scope of this post). Please help me find a new sci-fi romance with mmc in a fleet/coalition/space organization.

I love sci-fi romance with a space opera feel, mostly where the mmc is a member of a space fleet/military structure and the fmc is smart and confident yet humble. Unfortunately, I seem to be running out of options that fit my preferences in this category. I would love some recommendations.

Think Class 5 series by Michelle Diener, Cassandra’s Challenge by MK Eidem (and series), Accidental Goddess by Linnea Sinclair, Polaris Rising by Jessie Mihalik (and series), The Seer by Ariel MacArran, and Star Nomad by Lindsay Buroker (and series). These are some of my favorites that I’ve already read.

Most of these mmc’s tend to be human or nearly similar to human species but I don’t mind alien mmc if it’s done right.

What I don’t like are bdsm sci-fi’s or books with undeveloped characters or plots.
