In "Ignition", John Clark cites that James Dewar falsely stated liquid fluorine to have a density of 1.108, when the real value is 1.5. Is there more information on this error?

Does anyone know where the number originally was published by Dewar? Or anywhere in the literature where people used that number and had bad results? The book says it went 60 years unquestioned - how did that end? Who corrected the value? What caused them to correct it? What methods would have been used at the time to find the density, and why would Dewar get it wrong and someone else get it right?

[theory] Sir James has dementia!

[snatched that one from tumblr, thereโ€™s a larger belinker audience on here]
Okay, hear me out on this one. I think we can all agree Sir James was... weird in the finale. I think we can partly attribute that to Jamie being pissed as a duck and Rocky's... at times inconsistent characterization of people. But even so, Sir James was acting... weirdly. So, as I said in the title: I think Sir James is suffering from dementia. Let's look at the evidence:

  • Sir James has retired from Steele's, supposedly embarking on a journey across the world for some sketchy reason, which would make it difficult to reach him.
  • Despite supposedly leaving, Sir James was back in his office, acting very confused when asked why he isn't traveling the globe before finally blaming it on back pain.
  • Steele's basically has everything you need to live in an office - beds, food preparation devices, even hidden rooms, etc.
  • Sir James got distracted twice in that short conversation, once right in the beginning ("what? Yes, yes. No. Yes, well. No yes" or something like that) and then getting distracted by a toastie maker.
  • He was also acting irritable and rude, a known symptom of dementia.
  • He didn't seem to know what was going on in general: he did not acknowledge any of Belinda's victories and seemed oblivious to the mayhem going down in the canteen and Belinda's outfit.

So, here's my theory: Sir James had been diagnosed with dementia at some point in the past. Wanting to be remembered as the man that he was, he kept his condition secret and requested that, when it worsened, he be replaced by Tony in Steele's Pots & Pans, and to be cared for in SP&P HQ, away from onlookers, with only a select few knowing the truth, such as Tony, with whom he seemed to be close(close enough, in fact, to be acting as his best man at The Wedding). I know, staying in your company's HQ is a weird choice, but this is Belinda Blinked and there's been stranger goings-on, so bear with me!
So this dreaded moment finally came at the start of Belinda Blinked 6;
The stress of Belinda being kidnapped caused Sir James' dementia to worsen and he was forced to step down, using the alibi of finding his wife's murderer to explain his disappearance from public life, and Tony took over his position. Sir James had been secretly living in Steele's HQ for the past week, sleeping on the sofa bed in Tony's office, making food with the toastie maker etc., cared for by Tony. That would also explain w

Happy 25th anniversary to one of the most memorable quotes in the entire saga!

Please note that the day and time was calculated by a fan on a Tumblr post, but it pretty much checks out. Feel free to give credit if anyone can find the post.

We can celebrate it by mentioning our favorite Harry moment/quote. Let's see what we got!
