I've heard of combining tumeric with black pepper, for example.
I find the idea of cooking with ingredients that complement each other nutritionally really interesting, and I was wondering if anybody here knew more about it.
Last night I was cleaning my vaporizer, and felt like using it afterwards, but wasn't in the mood for weed or salvia divinorum (what I mainly use it for). I than remembered that I intended to try to vape some other herbs at some point. So I looked around the house to see what I could find. I found a bag with dried thyme, Salvia Elegans (I'm well aware that this species doesn't contain Salvinorin A) and Satureja Montana, from our own herb garden. I knew that thyme is sometimes vaped, so I thought, why not?
I wasn't expecting anything beyond flavour, but it worked surprisingly well! The vapor was a bit sharp (probably one of the herbs, and maybe I slightly overheated), but the after taste was pretty good. Before vaping the herbs I felt a bit melancholic/sad, tired, and somewhat stressed. Vaping the herbs had a subtle, but definite calming and uplifting effect. I didn't get high, but I surely felt a bit better. I went to bed half an hour later and slept great!
Looking at the properties of these herbs, my experience seems to make sense. All in all an interesting experiment, definitely worth it. Will probably do this again sometime in the future, maybe also try some other herbs.
Note: I normally always research everything I use in great detail before trying it, but in this case I knew these herbs were intended to make into a tea anyway and would more than likely not produce any strong effects when vaped (and were non-toxic).
So I’m getting ready in the next day or so to do an herb harvest. Looking at trimming back my Dill, Thai basil, and mint (my Genoese basil is really taking its sweet time, as I think I over pruned at one point a couple weeks back…. ). Im going to have a decent amount. That said I was wondering if anyone had used their trimmings in a dehydrator (I just bought one but I’ve never used one before) and maybe trying to propagate additional plants. I just am not sure if there are any best practices if I do. I’m really new to this whole gardening thing.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
