A list of puns related to "Retail Chains"
Do you feel the narrative changing?
MSM is pushing the narrative that retail investors are disappointed with the "lack of news and transparency" from the company. This cannot be further from the truth. As a retail investor in GameStop, my ONLY expectation is that my favorite (video) game store continues to grow to meet the increasing market demands for video game products and that they delight customers along the way. I do not care about an NFT marketplace.
The GameStop inventory continues to grow. See their new and improved website for proof. The customer service team has been delighting customers. See any social media platform for proof. Therefore, I am a happy investor! Everything is in place for successful growth, it is a matter of time before the market catches up.
I invested in this company for two primary reasons.
[1] Ryan Cohen is a visionary entrepreneur and businessman. He has a proven track record of making the customer experience enjoyable and providing a wide variety of products at the best prices.
[2] Shorts still haven't covered.
Don't get me wrong, the NFT marketplace will be great. But it could fall flat on its face and I would still be satisfied as an investor. Think about Chewy again. Cohen started a company providing quality products in a NICHE industry. You want pet food at great prices from nice people --> go to Chewy! That's it. No frills. No NFT marketplace. It is just a good business. If that is all GameStop did, I would be beyond thrilled!
That's why there are no announcements by the way. What do they have to say? They are a video game store that sells video games and a bunch of other stuff! The company is learning to delight customers with unbeatable prices and thoughtful customer service. Nothing else matters!
LOTS of other companies have "side projects" in next generation industries. Many of them never even see the light of day! Those companies are NOT dependent upon the new product for future success of the company. Take Facebook for instance. They are creating metaverse Ray Ban glasses. I have not heard any announcement about this. You know why? It's Facebook! They make money whether or not they sell any glasses or any more FB Portals. In the same way, GameStop is still the premier video game retailer at the end of the day and that's all that matters.
By the way, I've noticed Ryan Cohen's simple business philosophy (finding a niche market, providing all products in market at the

I remember buying them at an after Christmas sale and thinking I was so fancy to have special boxes for holiday things. For some reason that sent me down a memory trail of all the retail chains that have disappeared: Bradlees, Two Guys, EJ Korvettes, Channel/Rickel...
I'm old, but does anyone else remember these places?
(I didn't want to put the company name in the title, but it's a Target)
The job pays $15/hour, which is decent for my area, and it's a genuinely nice place to work with respectful management. But this thing they do with the scheduling kind of drives me bonkers.
To give an overview of how breaks work at my job:
If you work at least 6 hours, you get a 30 minute UNPAID break.
You get additional PAID 15 minute breaks depending on a shift's length.
Fewer than 4 hours: No break
More than 4 hours but fewer than 6: One 15m
More than 6 hours but fewer than 8: Two 15m's
10 (I think) hours or more: Three 15m's (working this long isn't really the norm here, unless it's requested)
To their credit, they are very insistent on us taking our breaks, and like reminding us to take them. But then they throw those extra 30 minutes into our total shift time if it's more than 6 hours. If it was paid, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but it isn't.
One of the purposes of a 30 or more minute break is to, well, break up the time of your shift so you don't have to work that full period (8 hours, for example). Adding an extra 30 minutes to make up for that break means you would have to work that full 8 hours, disregarding the 15 minute breaks. It doesn't sit right with me at all, because it's still time I'm spending at work.
To make it worse, that extra 30 minutes they schedule you for doesn't count towards the 15 minute break requirements. So if you're scheduled to be there for 6 1/2 hours, they only consider you as "working" for 6, so you don't get the two 15m's. Just one 15m and the 30m.
I mean, it makes sense when you look at the requirements, but it just feels dirty to me. No other place I've worked at does this. What do you all think?

A month or so ago a CVS retail pharmacist died on the job waiting for 2 hours on her backup/replacement. Since this incident, pharmacists and technicians/interns have taken up the sub r/PizzaIsNotWorking. I am calling upon our AntiWork brothers and sisters to help spread the word of the planned walkout on Monday, December 20th. Too long has the demand of vaccines, prescriptions, and other services outweighed the necessary help not being supplied to us, thank you all in advance.
Also, they are planning to implement LN in the near future and right now already are giving 20% discounts if you buy using Bitcoin.

He constantly works off the clock to avoid overtime, and has suggested us to, because the company "gets on his ass" about it. I think it's bs and he could probably win a lawsuit if he was punished for overtime if he just stopped caring?
We've been a skeleton crew majority of the time I've ever been here (2yr). Overtime is expected.
I could be wrong but eh. Wondering what ya'll think.

Sorry if this is long, TL;DR is at the bottom.
Iβve been a lurker for a while but I think I finally have something to post about.
Some background info: I am 18, was working to pay for my college since Iβd like to be independent. I worked at a popular retail chain that rhymes Fal-Shart.
So a couple of weeks back, I was sick with COVID, as was my family, and we had to quarantine for like 2 weeks or something. I was working before that fine, and I reported in the app that I was sick with COVID and I was told not to come in. It was all fine during quarantine, I reported that I was sick, called in, and got a case number to save for later incase I needed it. (Iβve still got my number and Doctorβs notice).
After my quarantine was over, I tried to log in the app to check my schedule, but it wasnβt letting me log in. I thought it was a technical error, so I called tech support to get help, but they were useless. They said that this is something that Iβd have to take up with my βHuman Resource Leadβ (In quotes because they are called something else but they basically do the same thing).
Now, it turns out that I donβt have his number, and in fact, I have no one elseβs number since I had been a new hire. So, I did what any sane person would do, I called the store, and asked to b me directed to the HR Lead. They told me he wasnβt there and I should call at another time. Alright sounds good, and I waited till tomorrow.
Tomorrow comes, and itβs the weekend, I call, and no Iβm leaving answers like the first 3 calls, but eventually I get an answer and it turns out he doesnβt work during the weekends. Fantastic! I asked if anyone else could solve this issue for me, but once again I would have to talk to the HR Lead, and I wasnβt able to acquire his number.
So I wait until Monday. I call the store between classes, and I get no answers. Same thing happens till the weekend where they finally answer, but once again itβs useless because heβs not there. Ffsβ¦
So I ask when he works and I rush after school to the store to get help, and guess what? HEβS THERE!
So I tell him my issue with my account and how to tried to call to get it fixed and he says that he can help me. Great! I give him my username and he gives me a temporary password, I try to log in, but it doesnβt work.
Turns out he doesnβt know what the issue was, so he told me to give him some time to try to fix it and to come back later. Great!
So I wait until next week (because I donβt have any time after c
... keep reading on reddit β‘If there are any chain store managers who manage multiple stores, how do you monitor the daily activities/walk-ins in each store? A company I am interviewing for uses CCTVs for understanding the customer demographics, dwell time and daily activities. Is this data and approach really useful in managing chain stores?
This post is mostly about a (mostly) Southern-based retail chain, but I have absolutely no doubt that other places are pulling this shit.
Current employees are being worked to the fucking bone. Many people donβt want to stay longer than a few weeks. Managementβs desperate for workers, so now job postings advertising $20+ are popping up here and there.
All the while their long-time employees are making a whopping $10. Anyone making more than that had to practically beg for it. And itβs usually not more than 1-2 dollars more per hour that theyβre making.
How anyone can view this as less than absolutely obscene is just beyond me.
Edit:
Just a quick edit to say that I myself do not work at this location. Iβm posting on behalf of a close family member who does not use Reddit, with their permission. I really appreciate the advice this has gotten already, and Iβll be sure to share it with them!
(For background I am still considered a minor in the United States) Hey Reddit today I really fucked up. So I was walking through this chain retail store and I saw some of those marvel minifigure packages. I am a total Lego geek and love anything collectible. In the past Iβve bought some of them, but stopped due to the price exceeding 5 dollars. As I was walking by, I noticed there was no one around and no cameras in that part of the store so I slipped a couple into my pocket. I walked out of the store with no problem at all and wasnβt caught by anyone. Insert montage of me hitting up three of these generic chain retail stores and then sitting in my room realizing I ended up with 30 of these packages in total. As of now they are half opened sitting in a plastic bag in the corner of my room. I felt so guilty and really donβt want to fuck up my life over some pieces of plastic. Thanks for listening Reddit.
