Estonia 0-4 Republic of Ireland
Hello there,
I am a new member to Worldpowers and I am interested in taking part after hearing a lot about it. This would be my first time taking part in something like this in Reddit, so I decided that the Republic of Estonia would be perfect for me to get accustomed to how this all works and develop a nation in the meanwhile.
My initial plans as Estonia would be to develop it's economy a tad bit more. In 2023 the Estonian economy would be booming if the 5 percent growth per year is followed all the way from 2018 till 2023, which means it has a GDP or around 34,537,263,686 +- some million if the percentage fluctuates. Albeit this is impressive for a small country in the Baltics, it's not sufficiently good enough to be a big player or have huge leeway regarding trade, or anything else in that matter. The military, albeit a small defense force, has major room for improvement and I plan on building it up to be self-sufficient enough that it wouldn't require NATO's whole support in order to defend it's lands from a certain aggressor, along with boosting certain parties and cutting out corruption.
These are my initial plans. I'll make more as I go along but these should be the underlying foundation for what I have in mind for the next 2-6 years.
A lot of the more internal politics jazz will be explained in depth such as parliament seats, ruling party, the opposition and any other important roles after I get the claim. Along with that I will have to make a expenses/income list, send out agreements and attempt to get more external investors. As an Estonian myself, I have got a pretty good idea as to the current climate in Eastern Europe, the only thing I would have to catch up with is the events that have taken place during 2018-2023.
Cheers.
Edit I) The Estonian government is a electory parliament government, as in the citizens vote for the people/parties that they think represent their interests the best. Then the parliament votes for a President, in which after the President nominates a Prime Minister afterwhich is either confirmed or denied by the parliament. The parliament also votes for any other high officials. The President is more of a figure head to the country, with the Prime Minister being the de jure and de facto head of government. The parliament has 101 seats, of which currently 50 are of the coalition, and 51 are of the opposition, with the largest party in the opposition being Eesti Reformierakond (in English the Estonian Reform Party) an
... keep reading on reddit ➡Hello there. I'm working on an essay on the first republic of Estonia (1918-1940) but I'm having trouble finding sources. If anyone could help me out this I would be very grateful.
It doesn't need to be about the first republic itself necesarrily. A general or 20th century history of either Estonia or the Baltic would be great help as well.
Currency of the first kroon used in the Republic of Estonia from 1928-1940. 1 kroon=100 senti. Following the end of WWI, the monetary situation in Estonia was quite a mess with many different currencies circulating at the same time. Included in this hodgepodge was the German ostrubel valued at 2 Estonian marks, Tsarist ruble valued at 1.50 marks, Duma ruble at 1.25 marks, and the Keresky ruble at 1 mark. Following a currency reform, the Estonian mark became the only legal method of payment, but it experienced a high rate of inflation, which prompted the government to issue the new kroon valued at 100 mark and equal to 0.403226 grams of gold (2480 kroon=1 kg of gold). These banknotes are of that series and circulated from 1928-1940. In 1940, the Soviet Union illegally occupied Estonia and demonetized the first kroon, allowing citizens to exchange their money at the rate of 1 kroon=1.25 Soviet rubles, a rate well below the official one.
