A list of puns related to "Precondition"
Iβm sitting at home charging my car on L1, at about 15% SoC. In a couple hours, Iβve gotta run into town and am going to use the DCFC. Itβs only a couple miles away, and itβs super cold outside. Is there a way I can precondition the car to charge at max speed, or am I doomed to low speeds because the drive isnβt nearly long enough to warm it up?
My car is a 2021 Tesla Model3 Long Range with the latest updates (V11).
Lately I ve been setting my charge limit to 80%.
When the car reaches 80%, I have the impression that if I precondition, it will use the car's battery instead of the plug.
The reason I m saying that is that I often precondition and see that my SoC is 79% or 78% when I get in the car.
So my theory is that once you reach you charge limit, the car disconnects from the plug internally. That is not a good behavior.
Can someone confirm/disprove?
edit: the answer seems to be that the car will use the oulet even if it reached the charge limit but my outlet can only provide 3kW, and preconditionning can use more than that (6kW) so that s why I see my battery drained.
Please consider this: tonight I'll be visiting a friend. It's about an hour's drive, the outside temperature is about 3 degrees Celsius. I expect to be there for about 4 hours. There's no way I can plug in. Would it still be beneficial to precondition the battery for my return trip?
Edit: I'm assuming preconditioning the battery uses electricity, so I have less range. On the other hand, driving off with a cold battery is also bad for range. What would be the best option?
I use the scheduled precondition in the mornings but sometimes itβs the middle of the day and itβs freezing out and I know Iβm leaving in say five minutes so I want to precondition the battery in addition to turning on my climate. Does turning on the climate do both? Or do I have to go into schedule and set the time for five minutes from now?
I have been trying to get the climate precondition to work in my new to me 17 plate D5 V90, but everytime I try it either from the remote app or inside the car itself I get 'precondition failed' or 'precondition temporarily unavailable' with no other info. The remote start from the app works fine and the diagnostics are not showing any problems. The manual and stuff I can find online dont really give much info, has anyone got any thoughts on what to try?
I am compelled by arguments suggesting coming deflation. I am also seeing inflation with my eyes. I am looking for a richer understanding of the topic. I don't have any economics knowledge beyond what I hear on the radio or read on popular websites.
For example, I have a lamp I want to dim to 50% at sunrise - but only if the lamp is already on.
Therefore:
IF [Lamp Is On] and [Time is Sunset] then [Set dimmer to 50%]
How could I go about achieving this? Is this what the precondition setting is for? I am struggling to find any information about this online
Hi all,
I am an MA student of philosophy at KU Leuven, Belgium (formerly in London). In the last couple of years I have found more and more that individuals, especially highly educated ones, seem to conflate the seriousness of the topic with treating the topic seriously. However, it is my understanding that thoughts and especially deep thinking requires 'a spirit of playfulness' especially at certain intervals.
That is why I have written this brief article on this issue which can be treated as a preface towards a (future) more systematic account: https://defatihkilic.medium.com/why-playfulness-is-a-precondition-for-serious-thinking-33ac94066f57
Thank you all for your time!
Hello, is this possible? I get free charging at work but would not mind paying the extra hydro cost to precondition my car before departure. I think a warm battery is not only healthier, but will help it last longer/degrade less.
I don't have a regular schedule. Is there a simple way to just "Precondition Now" as a one-off thing? All I can find is to set a daily departure time. Then I have to remember to turn it off.
I have been charging my car with the granny charger for 4 years now..
has anyone even checked the usage to find out what Amps i would need to AND precondition AND don't lose any charge on the battery.
Does the Niro with the winter package have a way to precondition the batter to warm it prior to driving. If so, is that through scheduled departure and does the vehicle need to be plugged in and charging? Thanks!

I've driven my parents 2020 Y and precondition is a high-pitched electric whine that I've gotten used to, and no sound inside when supecharging aside from the battery pop every now and then. In my new 2022 Y there is a distinctly different airflow sound that happens DURING supercharging that is not present in the older Y.
Does anyone know if this is normal and/or if something changed that causes the significant difference in precondition + supercharging sounds between a 2020 Y and 2022 Y? Thanks!
