Hi. I'm currently working at a metal etching/plating factory and have been put in charge of the anual hazard communication. We use potassium ferricyanide (PFC) for etching and the SDS says "contact with acid liberates toxic gas (cyanide)", a hazard worth mentioning. But I also use PFC with added nitric acid to test that passivation processes have been successful (free iron or some other metals produce prussian blue).
So that contact with acid isn't releasing cyanide gas, or the test wouldn't work, right?
What does it take to actually release cyanide gas from PFC?
Does it have to be a specific acid, or hot or something?
No matter what I did something kept preventing me from purchasing it, I guess I'm just going to bed then so night I guess
I just cannot find the answer, can anybody help? I’m not asking for a specific reason but now that I’ve tried to find the answer I have to know.
Getting rid of cyanide
About ten years ago, I was having suicidal thoughts and acquired about 100 grams of potassium cyanide. Obviously I haven’t used it, but I don’t know how to get rid of it. Will my local fire department help me contact the right people to dispose of it? What kinds of trouble will I get into for having such material?
My friend is suicidal and have attempted to take his own life with KCN powder in water .Is kcn still toxic after a week in water?
So I'm just confused I understand that cyanide is an industrial product but it is also known as the suicide pill that's used in alot of spy movies and I'm just a little confused as to why theres sites that sell potassium cyanide ORAL PILLS like if someone buys that stuff theres a 99% chance their trying to kill someone or themselves right? So anyway just wondering are these sites maybe fake or what.

please help quick as i stupidly spilled around 50 grams of my father's co-workers KCN INSIDE ON MY BED SHEET. i know cant sleep on it now so does it have indifinite potency or can i just wait it out? (btw he work at a coal mine)
-side question- is dissolving it in water neutralizes its potency?
