I thought graduating graduate school would feel great...but I've just been tired and down ever since graduation.
Maybe it's exhaustion, maybe it's the feeling of starting from the beginning of something all over again, or maybe it's just plain ol' depression, but it's not a good spot.
I just wanted to see if any recent grads have felt the same.
So I submitted my application on 29th April and I got the temporal work permit 24 hours later, Β my application was approved just yesterday. Β Hang on, yours will come soon.
Just so you know, a friend of mine applied a day after me which is 30th April and he got his on 16th May and we all used the same documents because we went to the same school. Β So am guessing the time of processing depends on the officer working on your file.
Good luck to all those waiting.
Hope this type of post is allowed here, sorry if it isn't.
I'm set to graduate in December with a BSc in Physical Geography and I'm getting anxious about the post grad job hunt. How does my current experience look for finding a job? I'm in Canada and willing to relocate anywhere across the country but I would really, really, prefer to be in a metro city like Vancouver or Calgary, I don't want to move to a rural/remote town unless I'm desperate for a job.
I'm not too picky about what type of environmental job I land since I don't know what it's actually like to work in the industry, all my exposure is from schoolwork. Although I will say I'm leaning towards fields like Forestry, Resource/Sustainability planner, or anything involved with the National Parks.
My current work history is as follows:
Because I never landed an internship, I decided to undertake an Undergraduate Thesis, this is a self directed study that will involve a presentation and maybe even a co-author on a journal publication at the end of the assignment. I told my supervisor about my trouble finding an internship and they took me on as a Research Assistant as well. This is primarily a field role where I help them measure forest plots in the Canadian Rockies, stuff like DBH, ecological sampling, species identification, etc.
Any insight into post grad life will be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Don't never give up x
I recently completed my 5 yrs undergraduate in Architecture with a good internship of 6 months. I am now practicing fine arts with MA in Studio Arts with concentration in sculpture. I have always loved sketching and painting since childhood. Everyone finds my work very creative and aesthetically pleasing. I have also had hands on experiences with building materials during my Architecture course. However, I still need to strengthen my conceptual thinking and deepen my thoughts behind my works to make it all the more exciting. I am trying to figure my own artistic voice which can be my patent and define my work. Hence I will be practicing sculpture in MA in Studio Arts. I want to be a large scale installation artist and work with the architects in the long run.
For the initial years right after post graduation, will I be able to secure a good job in industrial design until i find my mark as an installation artist?
I finished my degree in history last year, but have recently been dabbling into computer science/ mainly web development and data science and am really enjoying it. I am making decent progress solo, but wouldnβt mind doing a program for a year because of the networking and potential coop opportunities that comes with it.
I was wondering if anyone knows of, or experienced any decent post graduate diploma programs within those fields, that are about a year? I saw Humber has a program that bridges to a masters with a university in New Zealand that seems interesting, but yeah Iβm open to all suggestions.
I'm finishing up my degree this summer but I've never been in a relationship or dated the entire time I was in college. I'm quite introverted but I've always had the strong desire to date. However, I understand that the period that I've let past was probably the ideal and "easiest" time to find someone.
I feel a lot of regret and sadness because of that. I've been obsessing about it and I'm even seeing a therapist about it. I've tried dating apps like Tinder and Bumble but haven't had any luck on those. I have a feeling that I may struggle even more and I'm extremely worried that I won't even find someone because I couldn't when it was supposed to be "easy." I'm scared of becoming one of those people who are 30+ and have been single their entire lives.
Hi everyone, is there any support for recent university graduates searching for full-time/part-time employment during these times?
I know about the Canada job bank and so forth, but they have not yielded a callback, and after over 40 resumes sent to various jobs this month, there hasn't been a single call back or interview.
OTHER Than the email telling me that they are receiving a high volume of applications.
I worked over $6000.00 in my 2019 income tax
and over $3000.00 in my 2020 income tax
I recently relocated back to my home province and left my telephone fundraising job as the pay/hour was not enough for utilities, internet, rent and other miscellaneous expenses.
With that being said, I have been searching around for any support that would assist other students and me as we search for employment that could cover expenses and still have not found any.
Has anyone been able to receive further information regarding this?
Thanks for the insight!!
I need recommendations to buy a new SIM in Singapore. I looked through some of the telecom operators website and found that TPG gives 50GB data and 300 local minutes for SG10 per month. I do not talk too mush over phone so I believe it is enough for me and the cheapest. But if you have any recommendations please share. Thank you.
Thinking about the previous episode and I still donβt know what was the point of all the Lewis references. They seemed so unnecessary in the grand scheme of things.
At first I thought that these references were all a part of Henryβs revenge. Instead of retaliating physically against Olivia (which most people suspected), he instead chose to torment her psychologically with memories of the worst time of her life. It would have provided a purpose for the references, an outlet for Olivia to express her emotions, and show how much of a chilling psychopath Henry is.
Instead we have references sprinkled throughout the episode and Olivia barely has a reaction or says anything. Not only is it unbelievable that Olivia would have a non reaction, but that Rollins or Fin never said anything. Itβs like no one made the connection. Olivia didnβt even mention it to her therapist. Elliotβs return seemed more traumatic.
Pro tip for any aspiring writers. If you can take out something that you wrote and it has no affect on the story or characters, then itβs not needed. You can take out all of the Lewis parallels and it would not affect the episode in the slightest. It seemed like the writers put them in there more as Easter eggs, like a βHey remember this psychopath!β Iβm sorry but Oliviaβs trauma being used as Easter eggs donβt sit right with me.
Anyone did the project management post grad certificate at Ryerson? I have a bachelors degree in Human Resources and want to expand on my skills and get into project management eventually. Iβm debating whether to get it at Ryerson or George Brown. George Brown is obviously less costly however Ryerson is a university. I honestly have no idea what the cons/pros are for each option. I also canβt tell which program would be more benefical for me.
I recently finished my undergrad with a Bachelor of Fine Art with a minor in Art History. Job prospects given the time are difficult, and I'm eager to gain experience and do something enriching if I am unable to get a job in my field before I attend graduate school. I was briefly looking into a cultural arts internship in Rome, Italy through the company Intern Abroad HQ. It seemed too good to be true, even though it was expensive it was everything I wanted. 12 weeks, full time internship (unpaid though) in the field of choice, Italian lessons 4 days a week, a host family, two meals a day, and help with transportation. After a little bit of digging though, I found a lot of people had many complaints about the application process, that they took money from them, and that the company was less than helpful when it came to asking questions. Which I've now experienced after emailing asking a few specific questions about the program I wanted, and literally none of them were answered. So, does anyone have any experience interning abroad post-grad, and have any suggestions on how I should go about finding internships? Specifically I would like to be in Italy, working within the field of art either in a museum or studio setting. (If anyone has any info on that too!) :) :) :)

This episode aired tonight in Australia. I enjoyed the first half - Henry is still frightening, although if Iβm honest, he was more scary as a child. I didnβt like the way it ended though - are we supposed to really believe he gave up his gun and sat down for a chat with Rollins? Why would a psychopath give up that easily? It made no sense at all. I was hoping for a showdown between Rollins and Henry, ending with Henry being shot and sent back to the funny farm.
Supposedly fans are saying this is the best episode of the 22nd season, and one of the best episodes of the entire series. I canβt figure out why. It started off suspenseful and exciting and ended like a deflating balloon.
Anyone else agree?
Looking for a Qualified Economics Student/Graduate to answer Intermediate Microeconomic Theory Questions for Money. I Just need help once a week with 3-5 questions. Very basic concepts/ will pay $10 a question. Like post/DM for interest.
Hello, veterans. Iβm a graduate student in a clinical mental health counseling program in Texas. Last year, our program capped off the maximum amount of hours we can take per semester at 9 hours. This turned a two year program into a 3-4 year program with the stroke of a pen for most if not all students.
With this in mind, I was going to graduate by the end of this summer, but I wonβt be able to until August 2022. My GI Bill benefits run out this coming august of 2021. Iβm kind of trying to figure out how Iβm going to financially support myself until Iβm able to graduate, as that will be 1700 dollars less than what I am getting now.
Aside from loans, grants, and scholarships, what are the odds the VA will extend my benefits past their expiration date? Have any of you had any luck in this endeavor, if there is such a route? I make excellent grades (3.9 GPA) and Iβm getting my LPC so I can work with veterans struggling with depression, substance abuse, and PTSD.
Hi there, I'm currently an undergraduate student gearing up to apply to graduate literature programs in the fall. I do not currently have a specification but find myself leaning towards Modernist and Post-Modernist authors. With that being said, does anyone know of any programs (and even more so, faculty) which focus on these areas? I know that it's important that I research programs before applying to ensure that it will be a good fit, but I'm extremely overwhelmed with where to start. I'm based in the US but considering programs in the UK as well. I'm also looking for highly-ranked or "prestigious" programs. I sincerely appreciate your time and your help.
Does anyone have any update re EAMC Internship? It's just a month before the scheduled start of internship, but there aren't any update from EAMC. There wasn't any announcement in the EAMC Interns Telegram group too.
Do they send instructions thru e-mail to the accepted interns or the interns should send them an e-mail instead?
Thank you.
I've been in the UK since September 2020 on a Tier 4 visa for an MA and am hoping to apply for the new graduate route work visa that becomes available in July.
I'm from the US and have a trip booked to go home for a month to see family β I would leave June 21st, which I've just realized is also the deadline to be in the UK in order to be eligible for the grad visa!
Given I entered the UK back in September and have lived here since, that should in theory satisfy the requirement to apply, right? I have really been looking forward to going home but also don't want to risk it...
Any advice would be really appreciated!
How often do students go for a masters or MBA to ivy or any other top school from bits?
I'm a commerce student majoring in finance, probably going to grad with a WAM in the H2B range. I'm intending to pursue post-graduate programs in areas such as Statistics, Econometrics, Data science/Analytics, Financial mathematics/Financial engineering.
Academic performances aside, my main concern is that I might not have enough 'relevant subjects'. As you can tell, the programs I'm interested in are very math-focused (I'm looking to switch fields), and I'm afraid they won't even consider me even for an interview. The only math related modules I've taken are Linear Algebra and 3 econometrics subjects (2 of which are level 3).
My study plan is maxed out already (realised where my interest lies too late), so I'm intending to perhaps go for some online courses on Coursera to get a certificate on areas like calculus.
I have 3 pretty good internship experiences with me, well-known U.S bank, Big 4, and a reputable ecommerce/internet company. Not sure if that will make any difference.
I don't know, what do you guys reckon are some good ways to boost my chance of admission? Maybe perhaps I'm overthinking and I do stand a decent chance where I am now or should I just forget about my post grad plans since I'm already so late into my course to make meaningful adjustment in my course of study?
Thanks all.
It would be super appreciated if so
As an IMG who lives in Texas, nobody will return my emails or calls ! How can I get experience if nobody will give me any ? I do not have any US-MD friends so maybe I am doing something wrong ? Any advice on what is the right way to approach programs? Is it wrong to contact pathologists directly ? Thank you for any help regarding this topic, I feel completely lost !
So I just checked and I officially passed all my classes but donβt we need to do an exit survey or something? Or do we just do nothing? Like is it that easy to where we literally have to do nothing? Iβm so lost if anyone has an info that would be great
The Jesuit priest who presided over an inaugural Mass for President Joe Biden has resigned his position as president of Santa Clara University in Northern California, college officials said, after an investigation found he engaged in inappropriate, alcohol-fueled conversations with graduate students.
The Rev. Kevin OβBrien, at the direction of Jesuit officials, has begun a therapeutic outpatient program to address personal issues, including alcohol and stress counseling.
Sobratoβs statement said the investigation found that OβBrien βengaged in behaviors, consisting primarily of conversations, during a series of informal dinners with Jesuit graduate students that were inconsistent with established Jesuit protocols and boundaries.β
Finished my Master's of Kinesiology in May 2021 so I've been "adulting" for a year now, during COVID, went super hard on the job search, have published research, and would love to offer any advice and provide value however I can. What's on your mind and what are you struggling with?
I am trying to build a nation wide mentorship program to help ffy interested in medicine receive the tools they need to obtain a post-graduate education. If you are, or know a foster youth slightly interested in medicine or going to medical school, please message me.
A little bit about myself:
I want to do a masters in a top university in Canada, possibly in the analytics field, and want to build the perfect profile for it in regards to work ex, academic and non academic achievements.
Any suggestions on how I can cover up my academic fuck ups and build a better application?
Asking for someone else that's on a tight timeline before their study permit expires, from anyone who got a work visa through this program, what documentation did you need from the University? They have a Confirmation of Eligibility to Graduate and Proof of Degree Awarded, and their website makes it sound like the latter is required but it is uncertain. If this documentation is required, what might the timeline be for obtaining this? Can the proof of degree awarded be obtained shortly after submitting your thesis to Mspace and sending the signed defense form to the FGS in a thesis degree?
My daughter is 9 months old, and the item I would pick is the changing table. It's always been faster and safer to just slip a waterproof pad under her wherever she is lying and whip the diaper off. Later, we basically stopped bothering with the waterproof pad unless we were changing a poopy diaper.
