A list of puns related to "Pilus"
Or if the centurion would be an exceptional individual (smart, skilled, brave etc) enough could he be married or adopted into a patrician family before his 25 year contract would run out? And would he still have to serve the reminder of his contract or would he be released from the contract due to the change in status and possibly join a legion as a tribune or legate?
I'm asking about centurions, because they seem to be the rank that would interact on a more regular basis with people from the equestrian class or a patrician class. Could something like the above happen before the person in question would reach the centurion rank?
I'm listening to the Dark Operator series and this group has been mentioned a few times. Toward the end of Exigency the narrator mentions a scarlet tag and a silver tag on different parts of folks' uniforms. Do we know if the society is still active during the latest books in the timeline? And have we seen any other members perhaps?
Marcus Lanius, the Primus Pilus of Legio II Augusta was among the first of the Roman soldiers who invaded Braittania, leading the first Cohort of his legion against the Gauls. Tasked personally by his Legatus to purge a circle of Shamen deep within the dark woods of Albion. Little did Marcus know that on his brutal conquest, he was being being led into a trap, as his entire Cohort was cursed by the shamen whom they hunted. The dark trees twisted and molded around the troopβs path, seemingly leading them down a shadowy path with no end. Slowly, the strength of the Cohortβs march waned as the troopsβ despair took over their hearts, and their bodies transformed into ghastly trees not unlike those that surround them. After months of wandering the path, the cohort was down to one, Marcus.
Though, he was not without mark, as his undying loyalty to his Emperor has slowed his transformation, yet it had not fully stopped it, as the left half of his body has mutated into gnarled of dark oaken bark, melding with his worn-down armor, binding his great red shield to his left arm, and consuming part of his face in the wood taking his left eye leaving only a wooden socket in its place. His legion battle standard had long since been broken during the months of marching, and now he wears the tattered red banner that still bears the symbol of his legion as a cape to remind himself of his duties, and his home.
However, due to his perseverance, his sheer will to survive had broken the spell upon him, and he emerged from the wood, yet in a strange land that was not the same Albion that he invaded. This land was full of creatures and monsters that even old sages could not recount.
Yet he was no mere man any longer, rather it seemed he was just as much of a monster as those around him now. Despite having the heart of a man, he could not stomach food as he used to, taking in only water and sunlight, as his tree half seemed to finally dominate his bodyβs nutrient functions. Yet with gladius in hand and the will of his great emperor in his heart, he will carve his way back to Rome, or die trying.

I don't know any Latin, and whilst interested in the language, I am not currently learning. However, I came across the term Primus Pilus while watching something about the Roman Empire, so it looked it up, one of the first things I saw was a wikipedia article, and I know these things can be unreliable but I noticed something that had me totally confused.
Here is what it had to say about the name.
"The origin of the name is very ancient: it used to be the commander of the first maniple of third line (triarii) of early republican Roman armies.[2] A common, but wrong translation of "primus pilus" is "first spear",[3] however a much more accurate translation would be "first pillar" since the word "pilus", sometimes confused with "pilum" or javelin, is a specific term to indicate the weapon of the triarii (a spear, not a javelin)."
Heres the link if you wanna check yourself - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primus_pilus
So what I got from that is, a common translation for it is "First Spear". However, that is wrong and "First Column" is a better translation. Why? Because the word Pilus translates as Spear, not Pilum which is Javelin. So the word for Spear doesn't translate as spear? Now am I loosing my mind or is that paragraph logically incorrect? Now I looked up the term for pillar and it came up as columnea, I don't know latin so I do not know how correct that is so. Again is the article just incorrect or am I loosing it?
Specifically during the Principate, early 2nd Century CE. Do we have any sources that shed light on their day-to-day role and responsibility in the legion during peacetime and on campaign? I imagine that most of the logistical and organizational work would be the responsibility of the camp prefect, but it seems intuitive that the Primus Pilus would be someone he'd have to work closely with, or at least delegate to.
Can someone tell me the broad use of Primus Pilus? A 2 cost Homodeus Champion, 6 health, ability is: if you have 3 or more Homodeus Champions in play, exhaust to draw 2 cards. I've never been a fan of this card, as it seems too specific in use to combo with anything else. If my opponent draws it, I don't bother killing it unless they get other Homodeus Champions, and i almost never buy it myself. Maybe if I already have a Numeri Drones in play so that it comes out automatically, but otherwise it's useless to me. Thoughts?
