A list of puns related to "Novation"
Hi! I've been looking for a small groovebox for the last couple of months, and I have found two that seem to fit my purpose. I need a groovebox to create a drum and bass pattern and then to sequence my Korg Prologue via MIDI.
For that the Circuit Track seems perfect, but I don't really like the sound of the synth engine and the lack of multitrack output via USB.
For these reasons, I turned to the MC-101. But I couldn't find any info regarding the sequencing of external gears, and the MIDI polyphony, so I was wondering if anyone had already tried it.
And if maybe I overlooked a groovebox that can sequence MIDI polyphonically (at least 6 notes), feel free to mention it.
The two midi keyboards seem quite similar, however there is a huge price difference, would anyone care to elaborate on what exactly is the difference that warrants this?
I've been looking at getting a midi master keyboard, and have looked at the 49 or even 61SL, (Another question, does anyone know which keyboard stands these fit? Since it's too big for my desk)
Sonicware. Phew.
I bought the LIVEN: 8bit warps over a year ago, as there was basically nothing like it out there. It's incredibly fun, and pretty powerful. Sometimes it can take a while to program, but that can be a good thing. Just tweaking things and making something interesting.
Limited by the fact it's only one sound per pattern (monotimbral)... it's not really a limitation. You can do a lot with just that one sound, with the parameter locks, as demonstrated by many of the patterns in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=188uasv1pEs
Four synth engines including 2-operator FM synth, 6-note polyphonic, 128 steps / 8 pages, a 4-track audio looper (what?) even though you can't save loops to memory (that would be amazing if you could), arpeggiator, chromatic keyboard layout (F to G), some nice global FX (reverb, delay and more), 128 presets, 128 waveforms, 128 patterns with pattern-chaining... swing....
I haven't spent a lot of time with it... but then again I tend to make a lot of my stuff inside the box, with Reaper and/or Ableton. But god DAMN, this thing is awesome.
Today, I just got my LIVEN: XFM, which is the second thing Sonicware put out... it's a 4-track FM synth / sequencer. Ridiculously powerful and amazing-sounding. Step sequencer is half the steps of the 8bit warps at 64 steps, but of course, that's great, still. 128 patterns, pattern-chaining, and it also has step randomization, or per-step probability.... among other things. Each of the 6-note polyphonic FM tracks can be on its MIDI channel, so essentially you have a nice 4-part multitimbral FM sound module, even if you take the sequencer out of the equation.
No touch-sensitivity on the keys for any of these, but it doesn't matter. They respond great, and every button and knob feels good, despite the plastic housing.
The 16 factory patterns (no talking):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdmzSYZOpk0
(side note): When I compare this to something like Elektron's Digitone... I think you'd have to be crazy to drop $830 when you can spend only $200 for something just as good, if not better).
Lastly, the newest one is LIVEN: Bass&Beats. Only saw a few videos on it, but I'm equally impressed with all of these including the new one. It has less functions from what I can see at a glance, but... it's basically a 16-part analog drum machine, and that's not including the synth ba

Anything about your experience using the Launchpad or a similar groovebox in Logic is much appreciated. Ultimately the goal is try to find the right tool for the job.
Thanks in advance for any help!
(Hi! Iβm a newbie to music production so be a bit patient with me). I was doing research on midi controllers to see what would be best for my needs. And I came across the novation circuit tracks. It seems perfect for someone like me as I donβt know how to play keys and Id love to play with something that isnβt DAW centered. However I had a few questions on it if anyone is willing to help out.
-Is the Circuit Tracks good for someone with no digital music experience
-Could I use it with other DAWS that arenβt Ableton. If so what DAWS do you suggest? (Looking to not spend too much money lol)
-If I do purchase it, any suggestions on how to record music I make with it onto my pc?
Thanks for your help!
Hi!
Despite the fact that I use analog synthesizers, I'm also a big fan of Arturia's AnalogLab.
The thing is that I am deciding between these two midi controllers, the keylab is integrated with the analoglab, but the novation seems to have a better keybed/keyfeel which is very important to me.
My question is, which one would you choose and if someone uses novation with analoglab and if you can manage the vst controls well. I'm also interested in how is the integration in Logic. Thanks a lot
I have an opportunity to pick this up for super cheap and was wondering if it would be worth it. I'm interested in making Darkwave music and from some youtube demos this thing has some cool presets that would fit. For those that do have this synth, would it be good for gigging as well? Thanks!

I'm recording midi from a BS2 to an MPC 1000. I have some step inserted CC and program change messages to get everything setup, including turning the arp on. I then have the recording of the notes to trigger the arp (using the latest firmware). When I stop the track though often the BS2 keeps playing, and will only stop of I flick off the arp on the actual keyboard. This is obviously annoying so I'm wondering why it might be doing this?

Hello again! Reposting my LaunchKey Mini Mk 3 at reduced price. Keys will be destickered and cleaned, unless otherwise requested. Comes with original box and cable. Might also have the original paperwork. I'm not 100% I'd like to sell, so based one what they're going for, ideally I would like to get $85.
Prices include USPS Priority shipping from Socal, to within the US and territories. Invoice will be via PayPal G&S.
Mostly looking to sell, but interested in a Volca Beats, SQ-1, Akai MPK Mini Play and POs (mostly Tonic and K.O!) as well.
Patch cables cost me $12 a pack, 12 total, asking $20 shipped for the lot.
Thanks for looking!
I'm after a dedicated hardware Controller for Softsynths. Ideally I would love to have one controller that I can use to save custom midi mappings to for multiple different Softsynths
For example I want to be able to open up Tal u no lx in Ableton and have that mapped to the controller, then add OB-XD on another track and be able to switch to controlling that with the same controller...without it still affecting the Tal u no. I would want to be able to open up my Softsynths and have them automatically mapped to the controller.
From what I've read it sounds like this might be possible with the Launchpad Control XL by saving templates? Does anyone have any experience with it or any other suggestions? There must be a way to do this?
I'd also like to have a seperate midi keyboard so I could play the Softsynths with that while using the seperate controller for the knob fiddling. Is that possible?

Hi everyone hope youβre doing well and staying safe :-) I really like my novation launchpad mini, iβm totally blind and I find the group of small press buttons to be really helpful. However I know this controller isnβt the most durable in the world, so is there another option that would give me a bunch of small press buttons like the novation launchpad mini but that is more durable? Thanks very much for your help everyone :-)
Hello!
I am a hobby musician and composer, been composing on my portable studio. I use Logicpro along with MPK Mini Mk II. After 10.5 upgrade I am keen on using Live Loops as part of my workflow and planning to step up to performing mode because of which I want to have a suitable midi controller. And first thing came to my mind is Novation Launchpad series..
Considering my budget requirment I am now confused between launchpad X and Launchpad Mini...
With already existing Akai Mpk Mini, would you suggest Launchpad Xis better Or if Launchpad Mini should be sufficient enough. If I prefer Launchpad X i will have to stretch my budget only if I am getting something extra which I am unable to find it on MPK Mini..
I am comfortable playing instruments and drums with MPK Mini while I want to use Launchpad for clip and performance control..
Look forward to your valuable suggestions..
Peace!!
I'm going to get the novation launchkey mini or the Novation launchpad mini. However, I'm having a hard time deciding on this because I'm going to start for the first time and I want to learn ableton, but I have no experience in this field. I want to keep this a part of my life like a hobby, which one would you recommend for the first new start?
We recorded the synths and most parts of the song straight to my friend's 8 track reel-to-reel. Heavily inspired by stuff like TOBACCO. We really love the way synths sound with heavy tape-crunch. Thought to build a song entirely around that + clanky drums + whispery vocals. If y'all have any thoughts please lemme know. Looking to become more of an expert in synth-usage in an indie rock context. :)
