A list of puns related to "Norden Bombsight"
Hi all,
I just got my recruit to the medieval age and received the Norden Bombsight. I was wondering if I should keep it and develop it or sell for supplies.
Stats:
APC deploys Marines on death, base 1
Coalition troop damage, base 8%
Defender spawn time, base -8%
Invading Fighter Damage, base -8%
Machine Gun Infantry Damage, base +8%
I don't use APCs or Machine Guns, but I don't have any war legendaries so this wouldn't be taking up a slot that would be used for anything else. My war museum is geared offensive atm (-AEDTHP), and this one seems more defensive. idk tell me what you think.
The first time I heard about the Norden bombsight was in the book Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's an amazing story about the life of Louis Zamperini an Olympic runner who served at a bombardier in the pacific during WWII. I recommend the audio book narrated by Edward Herrmann. From what I could tell from the book the bomb sight actually took over the controls of the plane during the bombing run, so the pilot and crew would need to wait until the run was complete before taking control of the plane again. All that aside, I can't say enough about this story, Louis Zamperini lived a truly amazing life and gave so much to his country. I had never heard of him or his story before this book but now I am very grateful for him and everything he did. I hope others are as inspired by this book as I was.
Matt/Destin, NDQ is a great podcast, I've enjoyed many of the stories and conversations. Thank you for your hard work.
A quick search on Google quickly yields pages of results dedicated to the top secret Norden Bombsight with it's marketed ability to "drop bombs in the pickle barrel" but how did other nation's bombsights compare?
I know the Germans had this one called the Lotfe and this is the one I'd primarily like to know about. Of course any info on British or Japanese equivalents would be just as awesome.
Thanks
Title, I've searched for it, and cant really find anything talking about the mass of the Norden bomsight, only its precision. Does anyone know this? Thank you.
Due to the Duquesne Spy Ring, the Germans had the plans before the War and the device was much less accurate in combat than anticipated. So why all the secrecy?

#Chapter 73 - Operation Crossroads - Baker
29th September 1946
"...are you kidding me?" Iowa says in disbelief as she looks through a few documents
"I'm afraid not ma'am" a science member team sighs
Following the detonation of the first warhead assigned for the Operation during the Able test the researchers had their hands full, collecting and analysing data recorded by the cameras, all the various sensors and simply examining the target fleet, which is suprisingly mostly intact despite the size and strenght of the explosion
Of course the radiation left by the bomb is a problem, but that's why special groups were dispatched in order to decontaminate the ships to allow the researchers to record the damage done without too much trouble
"That's... Disappointing honestly. Such blast, and all that's sunk are transports?" Iowa puts the notes down
"Two destroyers as well. But yes, the bomb managed to sink two assault transports right away with next three sinking within a few hours, same with the two destroyers I mentioned. The rest of the fleet recived light to moderate damage" the scientist nods
"That begs the question: how? Are nuclear bombs just "all bark no bite" type?" Iowa sighs and sits down
"My my, what seems to be the problem?" Yamato smiles lightly as she enters the room "Hello Iowa, hello sir"
"Oh, hi Yamato. Eh, come take a look at this yourself" Iowa sighs and shows the kitsune a free seat
Yamato nods and takes a seat, then taking a quick look through the papers Iowa hands her
"Interesting... But what seems to be the problem?"
"Well, considering how powerful the explosion was I expected more damage than just a few mere transports sunk!" Iowa says with a disappointed tone
"Hm... And in my case the results are just as I imagined" Yamato smiles
"And how is that?" Iowa says with a suprised look
"You see, in almost all cases warships, especially heavily armored ones sink due to damage to the hull resulting in heavy flooding. So it's understandable that damage caused above the waterline managed to sink only poorly armored ships" Yamato explains
"Guess that makes sense... But even so, Nevada's ship was the main target and the damage it took is underwhelmingly insignificant" Iowa shrugs
"That's true... I wonder why's that" Yamato nods in agreement
As the two leaders share their thoughts another duo is speaking outside of the base. Nevada is sitting at the top of a small watchtowe together with Musashi, both girls watching the anchored

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
