A list of puns related to "Noisemaking"
My baby is about 19 weeks and has started "talking" in high-pitched noises. They're not squeals and they're not screams, but they come from the back of the throat and are consistent and drawn-out.
I can't tell if they're joyful noises or noises of pain. If anything they seem to be general, or her finding her voice, because she is making this noise across different moods.
Anyone else's baby get really high-pitched, almost piercing? It's cute but also a little alarming!
Its getting pretty old in my opinion.
I live in NYC, and so have been sheltering in place for two months. My upstairs neighbors have two children. For the past two months, they've been stomping, jumping, and bowling (we think, we can hear the ball rolling down the hall and pins falling) for many hours a day. Normally, I would not dream of complaining about any of it βΒ this is New York, and some amount of noise is to be expected.
Over the last two weeks, it's become significantly worse. Last week, their banging knocked a picture frame off our wall and broke it (we texted the super to see if construction was happening upstairs, that's how bad it was). The banging happens on and off all day for hours on end.
I have no problem with any amount of noise between the hours of 8am and 10pm βΒ they're children, they need to play, and right now they're confined to their apartment just like I am. But last night, the banging started up again at 10:15 and increased to 11:15. Under normal circumstances I would have gone upstairs and slipped the parents a note or tried to ask them in person to tone it down, but it's a pandemic and I'm not leaving my house for non-essential reasons, nor am I going to other floors of my building at all, as this could contribute to the spread of infection. So I knocked once on the ceiling to let them know their noise had become a bit much. The parents responded by stomping aggressively, and then both coming downstairs (we did not open the door, because pandemic) to tell us we had scared their children, who were crying (interesting parenting move to leave your supposedly crying children alone to both come down and scold your downstairs neighbors?), and that if we did it again they would call the cops.
I recognize this must be a very difficult experience for parents and children alike, but parents still need to keep their kids in line, and their response seems a bit unhinged? I grew up in NYC, and my parents were pretty quick to tell me I needed to keep the jumping to a minimum, make sure I did it on carpet, etc. I'm not worried about their threat to call the police, as it is not any more illegal to bang on your ceiling than it is to bang on your floor. Obviously our non-verbal communication was not the most neighborly way to communicate, but our options are pretty restricted at the moment, and given that this was our first time doing anything in response to their incessant noise in the two months they've been making it (again, I am totally cool with any and all noise during t
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi! I'm honestly not sure if this fits here, this is not about a movie or a book or anything of the sort, but there's this strange toy/noisemaking contraption that I've always found fascinating when I've heard it, but never known anything about. The one time I saw it, I remember it having the general shape of a piece of Trident gum, rectangular and a bit convex on both flat parts. Probably with a hole in the middle. It can make quite a variety of sounds, I think you're supposed to put it between your lips. It generally has a high and shrill tone, kind of like the sound air makes coming out of a balloon very, very slowly. It can be modulated by changing the shape of one's mouth, and I believe it's pitch can be changed too. I've commonly heard people using it to make extremely convincing squeaky toy imitations, cat sounds, baby crying noises, Guinea pig calls, and other weird sounds. I honestly don't know how to describe this thing further. Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about! Thank you!
I thought I would share my rig with you all. I am also apparently a total Fender diehard when it comes to guitars. Here's the full family album.
Guitars: 2012 Fender American Special Stratocaster (unmodified) 2015 Fender Japanese Telecaster '62 Reissue TL62B (Fender Twisted Tele pups, 4-way switching mod that sounds 'uge, and sanded down neck for a satin feel)
Amps: Fender Blues Junior III, 15w valve amp with spring 'verb (never used), gets the job done. Mooer Little Monster 5w AC-15 clone with Jet City Amplification ISO Cab with Eminence 12" Speaker, for when I need to get loud but do it quietly. Currently not with the rest of the gear, but here is a pic of my first time setting it up Cort 10w solid state practice amp for practicing. It's got a headphone jack, and while the tone is rubbish I don't annoy anyone other than myself.
Pedals: Honestly don't know what this particular board sounds like right now, I just finished it and it's too late in the night to test it...
Signal chain: VP Jr > Hotone Soul Press (wah setting only) > Hotone Tuner w + 12 Clean Boost (never used these days, prefer just to engage wah at full-tilt for solos and lead stuff), Ibanez TS9 with funny face to improve tone > Crowther Hotcake (always on, just gives a really nice warmth) > haha, missing cable > Boss SL-20 originally bought for bass but just chucking it on here to see what happens, it makes beepy noises... > DD-20 standing in for a DD-7... I prefer the DD-7 for gigging because it's no-nonsense and I can get a really good sound quickly, but the preset feature on the DD-20 is useful so it's more or less set to standard delay with differing timings... controlled with FS-5U on the right > Strymon Bluesky because 'verbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb trails into pristine cloudy distance.
I should have been practicing instead of making this post, haha.
Step right up! Come see the circus today!
My son is 8 and he continually makes noise, whistling, humming, breathing loud. Mostly music/songs.
It's annoying as hell and he's getting in trouble in dance. Music is playing and he is singing/humming a different song.
He doesn't seem to notice, and his pitch is perfect. If you ask he says the rhythm is inside him. If you tell him to stop, he stops for 30 seconds and as soon as he loses attention he starts again.
Any tips on how to help him? I'd like for him to be able to stop for 30 minutes. Also he's high functioning so I can explain to him if anyone can come up with ideas.
I can only describe its call as something between digitally enhanced sandpaper scratching back and forth very quickly, rusty nails inside a tin can being shaken, and someone saying "eh-eh-eh-eh-eh" in a guttural manner.
The crows kept cawing at it and its friend/mate/enemy kept yelling back. For a good 45 minutes. I looked out the window but it seemed to be up on the roof and I couldn't see it.
What is this goddamn bird and what does it fear?
Edit: I have a new mortal enemy: The Magpie.
Hi vintageaudio listeners! If there's anything that y'all can tell me about this console record player/radio I'd love to know! Context, model, year, anything would be helpful!
Just got it off a neighbor. It works! Everything is a little touchy (sound cuts intermittently when you touch knobs, but in general, firing it up and playing the radio has been no trouble.) Turntable turns! Looks like auto-cueing will only work for 45s and even then I don't think I have the right pieces. I'd simply like to buy a cartridge/needle that won't ruin records and don't know where to start/how to identify this. Also, someone has added a mono RCA input and appears to have done some rewiring but the drivers, amp, etc. all look original. Old, warm sound, comforting if not particularly precise.
Album here, happy to post more specific pics if that helps anyone.
I remembered a similar small toy when I was a kid that made noise when you flipped it over, but it didn't have a Hindu god on it.
The movie prop may be the toy itself with a Hindu god slapped on and the sound editors raising the pitch an octave or two.
Or it could be some real-deal Hindu object I'm ignorantly unaware of.
Thanks in advance!
Looking for a nice vinyl copy of this, It doesnβt matter if itβs the original or the reissue. Willing to spend around $35 for one.
This post needs 30 words for some reason even though the title is self explanatory but iβm just padding it a bit here at the end
Been thinking about this all day I think it's at a football game?

Got both of these over the last few months. Had some extra cash from selling some gear that made each purchase not feel quite so insane. Hereβs my quick thoughts on each...
Tonal Recall - Iβve had delays, but I realize now the delay sound I was looking for was undoubtedly an analog delay. This sounds awesome, really cannot say anything negative about it at all. Nice slapback, good long washy repeats too, best of everything. Itβs like itβs the sound that has been in my head when I think about delay, but never could really replicate it... the price is a little crazy, I really donβt know if a carbon copy etc.. would sound that much different, but I will say I do use the midi to sync tempo in DAW, and thatβs super cool to get repeats syncβd with drum machine etc... Iβve had a few chase bliss pedals and this one really stands out, but is funny because in my mind presets were the big thing for me, and I use them the least with the TR...
Blooper - So much fun. Again, sync midi clock with logic and make bloops in sync, itβs really a lot of fun. I think you could probably do most of what this pedal does in a DAW but to have it with knobs and buttons makes it a better experience in my opinion. Never really played with dittos or anything before this, donβt have anything to compare to, but I think of this more as a creation tool than a traditional looper. I think it may be too much for live looping but that is not a thing I do, and find for me itβs more of a studio/mess around at home kind of thing...I think I am still 1 firmware behind, so I donβt even have the newest features, but that is an added benefit of gear like this and speaks volumes to CB as a company. They take input from users and implement in future releases, pretty cool. Check out the blooper subreddit too if you want more blooper content.
Clearing out all of my pedals as I'm fully in the box now.
This is an all out awesome Cab sim from DSM Noisemaker. All analog signal path and tons of options to get the tone you want. I ran a Pettyjohn Pettydrive into it and it sounded great and recorded perfectly as well!
Asking $150 OBO Shipped to CONUS.

It was working fine when I left for work last night, now that I am home this morning it no longer responds to any of my requests.
Usually I would say βhey google, play rain/thunderstorm/river/forest or white noise soundsβ and it would play them for about 8 hours. Now all I can get is a crappy selection of Spotify playlists that changes βsongβ every couple of minutes.
